Il Centro – Co.As.It Resource Centre Newsletter Volume 24, Issue 3 Storielle Umoristiche The following short stories, recommended by Chiara Franzò, a semi-retired teacher, were published nearly 50 years ago but are still a valuable resource. Chiara came across her copy when perusing through resources with the intention of culling. She soon realized that here she had a gem and that this was a book to be kept and shared. From: Divertenti storie italiane by Leonora Fabbri, Nelson Harrap, United Kingdom, 1968 Il barista pignolo Un signore entra in un bar e chiede al barista: ―Vorrei un bicchiere di vino, per favore. ―Bianco o rosso? ―Rosso. ― Dolce o secco? ―Secco. ―Locale o di marca? ―Locale. Il Centro – Co.As.It Resource Centre Newsletter Volume 24, Issue 3 ―E tu come sei nata? Il Centro – Co.As.It Resource Centre Newsletter Volume 24, Issue 3 Cultural Traditions in Italy by Adrianna Morganelli, Crabtree Publishing Company, United States, 2016 Many of a country's traditions and holidays today are based on religious holy days. This book describes national holidays in Italy that mark such events as religious festivals, as well as important historic events such as the country's independence. Other traditional celebrations featured include food festivals and family occasions. English text for junior students. Spazio Italia 1, 2, & 3 (text / exercise book, + DVD ROM), by Mimma Flavia Diaco et al, Loescher Editore, Turin, Italy, 2015 The three levels in this series range from A1 to B1 and provide contemporary material across many contexts for senior and adult students. Material is well supported by authentic videos, audio tracts and online resources. While focused on competency in spoken language, it also develops skills in written productions and comprehension. It is attractively presented and the formatting is most engaging. . More fun Ideas for Advancing Modern Foreign Languages in the Primary Classroom by Sue Cave, Brilliant Publications, UK, 2009 Contains 77 activities to use with pupils who have been studying a new language for a while and are ready to progress beyond learning simple vocabulary and phrases. Includes fun activities to help manipulate and improve decoding skills and discover how the new language functions at a sentence level. Activities are enjoyable and interactive. . Il Ragazzo Invisibile (Gabriele Salvatores, director), L’attesa (Piero Messina, director) and Il Palio (Cosima Spender, director) [DVDs] Examples of new DVD releases being regularly added to the collection. The screening of Italian films in the classroom is an effective way to immerse students in language and foster a deeper understanding of the culture. Pre-viewing by teachers is essential to ensure the content is suitable. Il Centro – Co.As.It Resource Centre Newsletter Volume 24, Issue 3 Giovani Italiani in Australia : Un “viaggio” da temporaneo a permanente By Michele Grigoletti & Silvia Pianelli, Editrice Tau, Umbria, 2016 This resource Giovani Italiani in Australia comprises of an Italian text with an accompanying DVD titled 88 giorni nelle farm Australiane *(Italian with English subtitles). In essence it is a comprehensive report which releases recent information into the new wave of migration from Italy to Australia by the research group Australia Solo Andata (Australia One Way). Written by Michele Grigoletti and Silvia Pianelli it analyses in detail young Italian’s migration in Australia and is the a most valuable analysis as to date there has been little documentation to explain this increasing phenomenon. Here are some key statistics : 22,050 : the number of italian citizens arriving in Australia with Temporary Residence Visas as at 30/6/2015 9,930 : the number of Temporary Residence Visitors between 18 and 30 years (45,0%) 7: Visa types being accessed (Visitor, Student, Working Holiday, Temp skilled,Temp Graduate, Other Temp and Bridging) +5.4% : percentage increase overall from 20,920 in 2014 9, 538 : number of young Italians who have worked 88 days on farms enabling them to extend a Working Holiday Visa by one year Tipologie di visto temporaneo utilizzate da cittadini italiani fisicamente presenti in Australia. Valori percentuali. 30 giugno 2015. Fonte : Migrantes-Australia Solo Andata. Elaborazione su dati Australian Government, Department of Immigration and Border Protection. The data emerging from the report is not only detailed and comprehensive but also personal, deepening an understanding of this migration trend. Following are responses to two key questions directed at younger Italians who were asked : Il Centro – Co.As.It Resource Centre Newsletter Volume 24, Issue 3 Che cosa rappresenta per te l’Italia? (Carmine Varricchio, 29 anni). [...]. L’Italia è gestita male, molto male.” (Eugenio Guidotti, 30 anni). “L’Italia per me è casa. (Maria Messina, 29 anni). (p.291) *Le locations.
