The aim of this manual is to provide some useful hints and working ideas for people in the building trade who have to choose and dimension the ideal fixing system of marble slabs for ventilated cladding. The main uses, technical data, installation methods and, above all, the instructions to achieve a “safe and reliable” fixing job are described for the Fischer F10 system. It is virtually impossible to provide one simple procedure applicable to all cases since there are so many different masonry structures and a multitude of different situations; we shall make reference to certain conditions described on the following pages. For all the other conditions of use our experts will be at your complete disposal to provide answers to your questions. (Fischer Patent) The new F10 fixing system is suitable for all types of stone panels (such as marble, granite and composite panels currently used in modern architecture) for ventilated cladding. The new fixing bracket, of revolutionary conception and design, provides a solution for a vast variety of situations relative to load, distance adjustments and installation times. 1) • aggiustamenti di quota sui tre assi X, Y, Z. Advantages Compared to standard brackets, the F10 system offers the following significant advantages: • The use of anchors with a small diameter (hole diameter is smaller); this is thanks to the geometry of the bracket itself so the load that bears on the anchor can be reduced. This is particularly beneficial when the anchorage substrate is not concrete and, consequently, when it cannot bear high loads; • shorter installation times because the only tightening required is that of the anchor; • it is possible to fix perforated (using a dowel) or milled (using the slot adapter) panels; (item 1) • adjustment along the three axes X, Y, Z. –6– F10 Istruzioni di montaggio F10 Istruzioni di montaggio F10 Mounting Instructions Ancorante TAM ad espansione forzata, con controllo di coppia TAM forced expansion anchor with torque control Z Vite di registro fuori piombo con indicatore colorato di max sporgenza Out-of plumb adjustment screw with dowel. It is possible to adjust along the three axes X, Z and Y with the F10 anchoring system. As a result it is possible to compensate for or reduce the unavoidable geometrical defects of the surface to be clad. Out-of-plumb vertical alignment (X): By turning the adjustment screw the distance between panel and wall can be varied, as shown in the diagramme. The adjustment screw has a maximum projection limit indicated by a red coloured band around the thread. Value X in the diagrame corresponds to a 30 mm thick panel. Vertical adjustment (Z): A vertical adjustment of +/- 6 mm is possible with the Archimedean spiral type toothed a djustment washer which stops slipping towards the bottom of the bracket. Horizontal adjustment (Y): This adjustment is carried out when panel or cladding perforating errors have to be corrected. L‘aggancio alla lastra è di tipo meccanico e permette: - l‘aggancio della lastra dal basso - l‘aggancio della lastra lateralmente Stone panels (such as marble, granite, composite materials) used for ventilated claddings can be anchored with the Fischer F10 system. This is achieved by perforating the panel in two different points or by milling a slot seat. With this installation technique each bracket is supporting 50% of the vertical Fv load transmitted by the upper panel, while holding the underlying panel in the vertical position. Restraint of the panel is mechanical and permits: - load bearing restraint - lateral restraint Fv – 10 – F10 Istruzioni di montaggio F10 Mounting Instructions 3.1.1 Anchoring panels aligned one above the other 3.1.1.1 Joining the panel. The panels must be accurately perforated to guarantee cladding flatness (distance T). The small elastic nylon tube holds the connecting join firmly between panels while simultaneously acting as an elastic support for the panel on the adjustment screw surface (see detail). 3.1.1.1 Aggancio della lastra. The slot adapter is used in this case (see F10 bracket description). Joining by means of milling can be used together with joining by means of perforation. In the case of lateral restraint it is assumed that the entire vertical load (Fv) is bearing on just one bracket. With such an assumption, the Fv load is double with respect to the previous case, consequently the bottom brackets are considered as load bearing brackets whilst the top ones are considered as restraining brackets. Remove both the dowels and dowel tube from holes B of the bottom panel I. Make holes C and D with a 7 mm diameter at a depth of 35 mm in the new panel N, observing the position of the centre line. Do not put the dowel tube in these holes. 2 - Once panel S is properly positioned, place the dowels inside the extended holes A until they disappear, keeping them in position under the adjustment screw with the aid of a small metal strip or something similar (Fig. 2). 3 - Put the dowels back inside holes B of panel I. Position panel N restraining it with the dowels and hang it vertically (Fig. 3). 4 - Remove the metal strip holding the dowels inside holes A so they fall into holes C (Fig. 4). Now put glue or silicone inside holes B and C. ® – 19 – F10 Istruzioni di montaggio F10 Mounting Instructions 4. Collegamenti 4. One of the most difficult aspects of cladding with stone materials is the correct connection between panel and bracket. There are several different ways a panel can be fixed such as: 1 - using a dowel, in the case of panels with holes in its edges. A C B D Side view of connection. The “elastic tube” and “slot insert” accessories are made in PA6 material with high mechanical strength and chemical resistance characteristics. Drilling - Holes are drilled perpendicular to the substrate, maintaining the diameter and depth given in Table 1 according to anchor size. - Remove dust from the hole after drilling. Posa e serraggio. Assembly and tightening The anchor should be inserted by hand. If it needs help with a hammer, hammer lightly directly on the anchor after having removed either the screw or threaded rod. The anchor should be pushed right down inside the hole until its end is flush with the outer surface. Tighten the anchor to the torque recommended in Table 1, according to the size of the anchor and accessory type used. The injected FIP C700 Plus resin bonded anchor consists of a synthetic resin (a dual component no styrene resinous mortar) that can be used in many different fixing systems among which rods, threaded elements, tubular sections, etc. It is ideal for application on solid brick, hollow brick, natural stone, old masonry structures and so on. If the substrate is solid just fill the hole with resin and insert the fixing element. In hollow materials use the FISCHER FIP anchor which permits centering of the rod and suitable dosage of the resin. Activation of the resin occurs automatically as it is expelled from the special mixing spout. General. FIP type anchors can be used to anchor bearing structures subject to mainly static loads in both civil and industrial constructions. If they are to be used in conditions of extremely high or low temperatures or installed in concrete subject to traction (such as bent structures) or in any other conditions not mentioned in this technical data sheet, the designer shall take them into due consideration. Supporti. Substrates. The data given in these technical specifications refer to fixing systems on masonry consisting of hollow or solid elements, natural (stone) or artificial (bricks) elements. Durability. The rod, nut and washer are made in stainless steel. The resin of the FIP C700 Plus anchor is highly resistant to the most common chemical compounds (except very strong alkalis and some organic compounds) and is extremely tolerant to the corrosion of atmospheric agents. If the anchor is to be used in aggressive environments the designer will have to test its protection level. Protezione antincendio. Fire protection. These anchors are unsuitable for fixing construction elements that have to comply with specific fire prevention rules. Posa in opera. Installation procedure. Removing or substituting any part of the system is strictly forbidden. The FIP system is supplied complete with every part needed for each application, therefore no additional operation is required. – 28 – Foratura. Drilling. - Holes are drilled perpendicular to the substrate, maintaining the diameter and depth given in Table 3 according to anchor size. - Remove dust from the hole after drilling in the case of solid masonry. Posa e serraggio. Assembly and tightening. To ensure the fixing is applied correctly proceed as follows: - Remove the cap from the cartridge and screw the mixing spout on; - Remove the bottom cover and insert the cartridge into the injection gun; - Squeeze some resin out until the mixture becomes an even grey in colour; - Apply. On solid masonry: Inject a quantity of resin ranging from 1/3 to 1/2 the hole’s volume. Push the fixing element in until it reaches the bottom of the hole. On hollow masonry: Insert the FIP anchor and inject the resin until it starts to ooze out of the hole. Now push the fixing element in until it reaches the bottom of the anchor. Resin setting times depend on the temperature. Table 1 gives minimum times between installation and when the load can be applied to the anchor. To tighten use a torque wrench at the torque indicated in the table which shall be in accordance with anchor size and with the quality of steel used for the rod.
