In 1948 in Ripalta a natural gas
deposit was discovered. This is
how Enrico Mattei began his
career. He is one of the most
important men in Italy after the
Second World War and this
documentary shows his life from
1945 to his death in 1962 when
he was assassinated. Through his
personal story the film goes back
to the most important historical
events in Italy.
What does Predappio mean for
Italians today? Why the Duce’s
town is still the destination of
nostalgic tours and rituals that
may be unimaginable
somewhere else?
The films tries to explore the very
first Fascist town that Mussolini
commissioned in 1925.
Today, Predappio is a mixture of
Fascist-like architectural styles, a
quite village near Forlì that
welcomes tourists wishing to visit
the Duce’s native town and his
grave…
Only 60 miles divide the coasts of
Italy to those of Albania, but in
spite of this, most Italians started
to hear about this country only
after 1991 when the TV news
showed the first boats crowded
with immigrants landing along the
coasts of Puglia. However, what
did Albania and Albanians look like
before those images? The
Stalinism dominated the country
for more than 40 years and seeing
that it was one of the most
oppressive form of government, it
cut out Albania from the history of
the rest of the world and especially
from that world characterizing it
when its historical events were
strictly related to the Italian
political events for a decade.
8 September 1943: the radio
transmitted the news of the
armistice with the allied forces. Two
days later Rome was occupied by
Nazi troops. This was the beginning
of 9 months’ terror for the Italian
Capital, with roundups, persecution
of the Jewish community, and
hunting of Partisans. Gestapo
headquarters were set up in Via
Tasso where suspects were
imprisoned and tortured. The attack
in Via Rasella was followed by the
horrendous Fosse Ardeatine
massacre. The city was starving, on
the bare point of survival but, then,
in June the end of sufferance: the
allied forces arrived, bringing with
them a renewed joy of life.

It’s a long journey in the cultural
background enriching the
precious lifestyle in Rome from
the Golden period of Neorealism
that largely influenced Literature
and Cinema during the years of
the so-called Dolce Vita, between
the Fifties and Sixties, up to the
1968, the year of global protest
against society.
It’s a 20 year historical and
cultural description told through
film and photos of extraordinary
protagonists such as Gadda,
Zavattini, Moravia, Fellini,
Guttuso and Pasolini (just to
mention a few of them).
Italy's colonial wars to rise to the
status of an international
superpower eventually drove it to
its fatal alliance with Nazi
Germany. The veterans of this
war have moving stories about
the contrasting emotions that
were the characteristic of this
conflict.
This film tells the story of the
excavations at Herculaneum,
following Amedeo Maiuri, the
archaeologist who in little more
than 30 years brought to light the
Roman city, which had been
destroyed along with Pompeii by
the eruption of Mount Vesuvius
in AD 79. Today two-thirds of the
ancient city still lie under the
modern city of Ercolano. The
diaries of Maiuri, together with
interviews and unseen footage,
lead to in the discovery of the
archaeological site.
During the development of the
great Mediterranean civilizations,
man started to have a deep and
complex relationship with water.
Ancient civilizations considered
thermal waters as something
supernatural for their mysterious
origins. The link between man
and water developed by
the passing of time, to such an
extent that it reached its highest
expression of civilization and
wealth in Rome’s magnificent
thermal buildings. The impressive
and ingenious Roman thermes
are the result of a millenary
experience.

There is a general uprising. The
people can no longer endure the
Russian regime, and the former
Habsburg capital, once an
appealing and charming city, is
now a vast battlefield. Clashes
break out everywhere; workers
and students, men and women
take up arms against the Soviet
tanks. Casualties will total almost
thirty thousand in two weeks.
Desperate appeals come through
on the radio, but the tragedy
takes place amidst the world’s
indifference, and the Hungarian
people will be left to face their
destiny alone. This is the first
event of the 20th century to be
followed almost live by millions
of people on television.
Exactly fifty years after the
disaster, the time has come to
reveal the mystery behind one of
the greatest marine disasters ever
and to redistribute blame and
praise more justly, with an
absorbing documentary using
incredible archive and original
footage, some seen for the very
first time. After fifty years, the
various pieces of the puzzle can
be fit together to reveal the
definitive truth behind the tragic
fate of the Andrea Doria, an
uncomfortable and in some ways
shocking truth.
The film opens on the chaotic
days of 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th
September 1943. In a series of
meetings at the Italian Admiralty
in Rome, Admiral Bergamini was
first ordered to sail his fleet
against the Allies, poised to land
at Salerno, then to sink it off La
Spezia to stop it from falling into
German hands and finally, when
the armistice signed 6 days
before was made public, to
surrender it to the Allies in Malta.
An important production which
analyzes the history of Fascism
year after year through the
original and highly valued images
coming from the Istituto Luce
historical archives.

In the early 1920's, Italy's newly
established Fascist regime hopes
to transform the Mediterranean
Sea into its Mare Nostrum. Young
archaeologist Luigi Maria Ugolini,
sent to Albania to oversee the
Italian Archaeological Mission,
unwittingly finds himself
involved in the treacherous
"Balkans Game". For some,
Ugolini, who brought to light
Butrinto, the "Pompeii of
Albania", stands as one of the
fathers of modern archaeology,
while others consider him merely
a pawn of Mussolini.
They were all roughly eighteen
years old, living in the Monferrato
zone, in Piedmont, when they
chose sides on 8 September
1943. The conversations, the
dialogues between the past and
present, and among the four girls
whose lives intertwined or
brushed by each other during the
Resistance period, bring to life a
form of memory that is not an
immobile presentation of the
facts, but an intimate, vibrant,
vivid look at the very fabric of
history through the vehicle of the
emotions.
This film isn't about the history of
Italian industry, its economic
progress, its delays or its missed
opportunities. It's about the
reality behind it. It's a story of
faces, workers' faces, a portrait of
the people who have populated
and still populate Italian factories.
It's a tribute to their work, their
gestures, their professionalism.
It's a mosaic of voices and
dialects that ranges from
Southern to Northern Italy, from
large factories to small ones, and
it tries to create an image of Italy.

This docu-drama focuses on the
last few months of Sicilian Mafia
boss Bernardo Provenzano. 43
years as a fugitive from justice.
Taped conversations of Mafiosi
talking from their hideouts,
eyewitness accounts of the police
investigators, plus drama
reconstructions provide a
description of day-to-day Mafia
life. For the very first time,
Provenzano's "mailmen" are
shown exchanging "pizzini", the
handwritten messages used by
the head of Cosa Nostra to give
orders.
The latest fifty years of Italian

their own diaries.

underwater archaeologists from
the Italian Ministry of Cultural
Assets in an operation that is
unique of its kind. For the first
time methods and equipment
characteristic of archaeological
excavations are used in a

more than one hundred metres.
It is what remains of the first

Mussolini’s speeches recorded in
audio and video are about fifty,
then considered the most
important. The speeches have
been completely restored, since
the first, which goes back to
September 6, 1931, until the
last dramatic appeal in the Lyric
Theatre in Milan, on December
16, 1944.
The idea of celebrating all the
soldiers that died during the First
World War through the tribute to
one single soldier whose body
was not identified, began to
spread during the Summer of
1921. After 3 month search, a
governmental commission was
charged of selecting the rests of
11 unidentified soldiers in the
cemeteries situated in some
Northern Italian regions, and the
mother of a missing soldier was
called up to decide what was the
body that should have been
buried in Rome at the famous
tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The missing soldier’s coffin
travelled all over Italy on a train
and thousands of people greeted
it with cheers and flags
spontaneously from the
North to Rome.
"Simply Beautiful" is a film
created from stock footage:
archive images, clips, photos,
songs and female voices that
trace, through "her" eyes, the
historical events that have
marked Twentieth-century Italy.
A century of images in which especially in this second part
(from the Sixties to today) women are very often the
protagonists: from the first
"single mothers" who pridded
themselves on their unmarried
status, to the teenagers in
miniskirts and the feminists who
took to the streets to protest in
the Seventies.

The seizure of Rome and its
annexation to the Kingdom of
Italy in 1870 was considered an
act of ignominy by the Church.
It was a wound that looked like it
would never heal: the world had
offended the Pope and the Pope
had retired himself from the
world. Pius XI broke this
traditional seclusion when on 6th
February 1922 he stood before
the crowd on the great balcony
in St. Peter’s Square and gave the
Urbi et Orbi blessing. Thus began
a new era for the Catholic Church.
This documentary is the story of
the long tradition of athletics and
many other sports that were
practised in the city of Turin since
March 17th 1844, when the Royal
Society of Gymnastics was
established. The documentary
clearly describes how modern
Italian sports owe their origins to
that embryonic institution
centred in the city of Turin. From
the first cycling race (1876), to the
first Formula 1 race (1946) and
the first Italian Football
Championship (1898), Turin has
moulded, through pioneering
spirit and innovation, the whole
of Italian sport.
Munich 1972, the Olympic
Games. Under an atmosphere of
global reconciliation, terrorist
assassins infiltrate the Olympic
Village, killing 11 athletes of the
Israeli Olympic team. Israeli secret
agents compile a complex
mission of retribution. When the
terrorists target the Israeli
Olympic squad, and cause their
death in the course of the
negotiation, PM Golda Meir
orders retribution. This is the
story of Israel's revenge.
On July 7th, 1981, on a late
afternoon, a squadron of F-16
fighter jets takes off from its base
somewhere in Israel's Negev
Desert. 90 minutes later and 1000
kilometres away, the nearly
operational Iraqi nuclear reactor
in Osirak is destroyed.
1972. With their nuclear program
up and running, the Iraqi
government signs a secret
agreement with the French and
Italian governments for the
supply of parts and materials
required for the construction of
two experimental reactors.

The documentary deals with
events and contradictions which
signed a specific period of time
but involved the whole world. A
«new Illuminism» in its cultural
and philosophical roots, an
attempt to destroy political
settings and institutions, a revolt
of the «New Left» and some other
things together.
Intellectuals, artists, sociologists
and theologians too, they all
discussed about this
phenomenon and this discussion
still continues nowadays.
In the 20th century the relations
between Italy and the Islamic
world have always been very
close, even through the political
changes which, beginning from
the Libyan War in 1911, followed
one another. The Fascism policy,
decidedly pro-Arab and antiBritish, ended up in the close ties
that united the Republican
governments with the most
important Arab States; the
activity carried on by Mattei, in
contrast with the policy of the
major oil companies of that time,
and the other main events which
signed the relationship between
Italy and Islam.
When Hitler came in Italy for his
first time in may 1938 there was a
week of great celebrations, the
greater ones Italians have never
seen. This event was impressed in
our collective memory. Then,
public opinion realised that the
relationship between Mussolini
and the Führer was firmed. In
that time their two dictatorships
came up. The history was
reconstructed by a long and
careful research in the Historical
Archive of the Istituto Luce,
revealing its most awkward
aspect and backstage.

A charming story that goes from
the very sad and faded images of
the last Romanov through the
rise to power of the Bolsheviks,
the Revolutionaries of the early
hours, the civil war, the peasants
insurrections as reaction to their
state of serfdom, huge
development plans, deportations
and the 1939’s purges. Then it
comes the moment of the
dreadful campaign against
Hitler, which makes Russians
winners thanks to their heroism,
sacrifices and incredible
organization.
For almost one hundred years,
from the flight of Mario
Calderara, the first Italian pilot, to
the extraordinary Eurofighter, the
European plane of the third
millennium, men and machines
have made «Italian wings»
famous all over the world. This is
the engrossing telling of a story
that starts one misty morning in
1909 on the outskirts of Rome,
on the field of Centocelle, and
unwinds through the entire
twentieth century amidst
enterprises, failures, records and
wars.
The Arch of Constantine is one of
the fundamental monuments of
the Roman world. The film
provides a detailed analysis of the
history of this monument and its
role in the city’s life. It goes on
describing the long and delicate
work carried out by a team of
experts to restore the structures
and their precious bas-reliefs.
For most of us, Malaysia is a
fantastical land of pirates, tiger
hunts and precious pearls. A
world leader in the export of
semiconductors and electronic
components: that is one way to
describe today’s Malaysia, thanks
to the dramatic changes brought
about by leader Mahatir
Mohammad, who has
transformed a primarily
agricultural nation into an
economic power.

Summer of 1944. As the armies of
Nazi Germany are facing
inevitable defeat with the Allied
landings in Normandy and the
relentless advance of the Red
Army on the Eastern Front, one
man alone, Winston Churchill, is
obsessed with what now appears
to be a secondary theatre in the
war, Italy. To the British Prime
Minister, the control of the
Mediterranean and the Balcans is
of utmost importance if the
balance of power is to remain
favourable to the western powers
after the fall of Adolf Hitler: the
sphere of communist influence
needs to be kept as far as
possible from the heart of
Europe.
November 1942, Southern Russia.
Along an incredibly vast frontline
German and Italian soldiers stand
together. They are young men in
their twenties, born under
Fascism and Nazism, dragged by
Hitler and Mussolini into the most
senseless and mad operation of
the entire war: the invasion of the
Soviet Union. At the root of the
tragic defeat in Russia, Hitler's
megalomaniac plan of taking
control of the oil fields in the
Caucasus and the debacle of the
German 6th army in Stalingrad.
Monte Cassino. In 1944 one of
the most epic and tragic battles
was taking place at the foot of
the centuries-old Benedictine
abbey. In order to dominate the
series of hills dominating the only
road to Rome, the Allies launched
four massive, yet senseless,
frontal attacks sending men from
countless nations to their deaths.
Defending the heights of Cassino,
crack troops of the German
Wehrmacht: the paratroopers.
Sixty years later, seven of these
have agreed to return with us on
this Battlefield Tour and to tell us
their frightful stories.
January 1944. British and
American troops land in Anzio, a
small seaside resort only sixty
kilometres from Rome. The Allied
objective is to break the
stalemate at Cassino and to
capture the Eternal City. The
Germans, on the other hand,
have mustered all troops
available, from France to the
Balkans, to push the invaders
back into the sea. Four of these
men have returned with us to the
now-peaceful countryside around
Anzio where they left their youth,
their comrades and their most
painful memories.

History, celebrity, culture,
fashion,trends, events, music,
cinema, cuisine, clubs, theaters
and much more: a journey back
across an entire century, from the
dawn of the Twentieth century to
the present.
"Versilia 8 1/2" is not just a tour
through an artistic heritage we all
know so well, with its myriad of
attractions and facilities for the
traveler; it's also a backward
glance at a strip of land, Versilia,
whose transformation mirrored
that of an entire nation, and often
anticipated it. And still does.
Denys Simmons and George
Hervey-Murray tell the story of
how they escaped from a train
transporting them from an Italian
POW camp in Sulmona to
Germany after the Italian
Armistice of September 8th 1943,
when the Italian Armed Forces
disbanded and their former allies,
the Germans, suddenly turned
enemy. Denys and George return
to Meta, the small isolated village
in the mountains where they had
spent about three weeks in 1943,
George for the first time after
sixty years.
A documentary film on
Guglielmo Marconi’s youth and
the major modern applications
originating from his experiments.
Marconi’s early notebooks,
recently discovered, provide a
new interpretation of his
personality, underlining the
international and cosmopolitan
stature, especially in relation to
the most recent discoveries and
technological applications in
different fields of scientific
research.
In July 1, 1933, twenty-five
seaplanes take off from Orbetello
flyingboat station heading for
New York. Main characters of this
event are «the Atlantics», one
hundred eleven exceptional men
under Marshal Italo Balbo’s
command. The film tells minute
by minute all tensions, the
joy and the final triumph that
those men live while they fly over
Europe, North Sea and
Greenland, always in perfect
formation.

The Spanish War, fought from
1936 to 1939, was one of the
bloodiest events of the Twenty
Century. It’s considered today as
the prologue, in the hearth of
Europe, of World War II. In fact,
behind the warring factions, the
Republicans of the legitimate
government and the insurgent
Nationalist, led by General
Francisco Franco, the future
adversaries of the world conflict
take sides: on the one side
Stalin’s URSS and the volunteers
of the International Brigades, on
the other, the Axis Powers,
led by Hitler and Mussolini.
Near Rome there is a little volcanic
lake which takes its name from the
town of Nemi. The charm of this spot
would hardly lead one to think that
the waters of the lake concealed a
great mystery; since time
immemorial, the locals recalled that
the remains of two large vessels lay
hidden at the bottom of the lake. Yet
no historical texts tell of the existence
of ships on the lake in Nemi. Was this
really the historical memory of the
populace, or was it merely a legend?
The ships were found in 1446, but
only in the 1920s, they were finally
recovered, using an extremely
complex process: the lake was
drained! The hulls of two gigantic
vessels emerged: 70 metres in length
and over 25 metres across.
With a great gathering in Piazza
Venezia, on October 2, 1935,
Mussolini announces the start of
the military operations on the
Ethiopian Plateau. At dawn the
next day Italian troops cross the
Mareb River, the boundary
between Eritrea and Ethiopia, and
begin their march on Abyssinian
territory, heading toward the
capital city. Thus begins the War
of Ethiopia, which will end eight
months later, in early May 1936,
with the capture of Addis Abeba
and the proclamation of the
Italian Empire.
In this interview, filmed only two
months before his death, Terzani
describes how he first placed
himself in the hands of western
medicine to treat his cancer. Then
he decides to travel through
different and far away countries
and civilizations, looking for a cure
for his cancer and for insight. This
final journey is described in a
moving and highly respected
book which was published in
Germany in 2005 under the title
"Noch eine Runde auf dem
Karussel" (Another Round on the
Carousel). Terzani was one of the
great figures of European
journalism: he spent almost forty
years in Asia, studied Sinology,
and as a correspondent for
Hamburg's "Der Spiegel", the
Italian "Corriere della Sera", and
"La Repubblica".

It was probably the war we've
seen the most of, filmed from
every angle with exceptional
technique, for that time; yet it
was also, perhaps, the last war to
be so public. The Joint Chiefs of
Staff were slow to understand the
boomerang effect of all those war
scenes, captured on film by
military cameramen, on American
public opinion, first, and then on
the rest of the world. Thirty years
later, a TG1 special retells the tale
of the only war the United States
ever lost, and provides a
clearheaded analysis of that war
while the U.S. is embroiled in
another one in Iraq.
With the armistice on 8
September 1943, sixty years ago,
for Italy came not the end but the
dawn of one of the most
dramatic and difficult times in its
history. The war was still going
on; the king was in flight, the
Italian army disbanded in a
nation cut in two, even
geographically, with the German
occupation and the founding of
the Republic of Salò."That
September in Italy", Roberto
Olla's TG1 special, brings those
terrible days to life, in films of the
war released only now and in
interviews with eyewitnesses.
With the fall of the regime on 25
July 1943, Fascism in Italy came
to an end. Sixty years later, this
TG1 special revisits that chapter
in history with scenes from those
tumultuous days, especially the
epic clash between Arturo
Toscanini and Benito Mussolini. It
was a clash that lasted over
twenty years, and culminated in
the "dirty deed" committed in
Bologna, when the great
conductor was beaten to a pulp
by a Fascist action squad because
he wouldn't perform
"Giovinezza". The TG1 special's
historical reconstruction is made
contemporary by an interview
with Lorin Maazel, heir to
Toscanini in New York and
conductor of Lincoln Center's
Philharmonic Orchestra.
A global view of the criminal
phenomenon known as "Cosa
Nostra". "Godfathers" offers a
panoramic look at the history of
Mafia, starting with the mass
emigration of Italians to the U.S.
at the end of the 19th century,
and leading up to the arrests that
took place in 2000 on the New
York Stock Exchange. The
beginning of the story coincides
with the nascent forms of
cinema. "Godfathers" tells a
captivating story that borders on
classic cinema and is made
possible by the tools of the 20th
century: original recordings of
everyday life.

It tells the great adventure of
women who, during the
Twentieth Century, have
redesigned their image and role
in family and society. It’s a video,
a «spot» covering one hundred
years, whose aim is to join l’air
du temps with the time
changing, which forces us to
change.
The years from 1943 to 1954 are
crucial for European history and
Trieste is an actual hot spot in
international interests and
conflicts. In these years in the city
are working more than fifteen
secret service agencies.
With the help of the historical
facts narrated in this
documentary, it is possible to
understand many of the recent
events and facts that determined
the present geo-politic situation
in the Balcanic area.
The story of marble told in digital
version: its triumphs from the first
to the third century A.D., its long
silence and its rediscovery which
inspired a new era of beauty. A
strictly scientific film, inspired by
the book Marmora Romana by
Raniero Gnoli, which explores the
world of the present and past
«marble empire». Exaltation of
the divine regality of Emperors,
portraits of lovely women,
warriors, slaves, mythical
beings and golden divinities with
precious inlays.
In a coup on March 24, 1976, a
military junta seized power in
Argentina and went on a
campaign to wipe out left wing
terrorism with terror far worse
than the one they were
combating. Between 1976 and
1983 - under military rule thousands of people, most of
them dissidents and innocent
civilians unconnected with
terrorism, were arrested and then
vanished without a trace.

1948. The Russians isolate Berlin
from the rest of the world and
the Western allies are forced to
supply the city with a massive
airlift that goes down in history. A
new conflict, the Cold War, has
begun. In 1961 a wall is built in
Berlin and countless people try to
pass it and escape.
The authors Francesco and
Marcello Villari tell the events
that marked forty-five years of
German and world history.
Mussolini’s elder daughter, Edda,
and the scion of a noble Leghorn
family, Galeazzo Ciano, got
married in Rome on April 24,
1930. Then, it begins a love story
which will get a lot of space in
magazines and newsreels.
Those images tell both their
private lives and the happenings
of the great history. Africa, Spain,
the partnership with Nazi
Germany, until the World War
and the fall of Fascism.
An extraordinary record of the
Great War: thousands of faces,
known and unknown people, the
18-years-old 99 boys at the front
line, their agitation before the
assaults, desperation and fatigue,
the victors’ joy and the prisoners’
dejection.

Enrico Mattei (1906-1962),
founder and first president of the
Italian state energy company ENI,
was celebrated during his lifetime
as "the most powerful Italian
since Augustus." He provided his
resource-poor country with
cheap crude oil and gas through
aggressive negotiating with the
Anglo-American oil cartels, and
therewith laid the groundwork
for the Italian economic
revitalization of the 60s. During
the climax of the Cuban crisis in
October 1962, and as the Cold
War threatened to become the
Third World War, the ENI
company jet crashed near Milan.
The 3 people on board - Enrico
Mattei, the pilot and an American
journalist - died in the crash.
The series retraces the steps of
the Jews history. It is believed
that the Jewish community in
Piedmont was founded following
its banishment from Spain in
1492. Only a small number
managed to hide or emigrate,
and even fewer survived the
horror of the death camps. But
their memories are an important
heritage which must be defended
with the utmost respect.
“When they came back, from the
States, in 1921, everything was
changed: Austria-Hungary didn't
exist anymore, they were citizens
of the United States; their old
native country was now a part of
four new European States, rosen
from the war”
Following the steps of English
writer D. H. Lawrence’s travel in
the year 1927, Lea Massari leads
us to discover the wonderful
history of Etruscan civilization,
beginning from the starting of
the first civil organization
forms, describing their spiritual
and religious life, their artistical
expressions, their private and
political lives, their last
flourishing and their decadence.

A series of five episodes, each
one dedicated to a great
personality of motor racing. The
history of Formula 1 and Ferrari's
rivalry with other great sports
and racing car manufacturers
forms the background of their
stories.
The Italian Social Republic was
created in September 1943, after
the armistice signed with the
Allies and Mussolini’s release,
with the aim of continuing the
policy of Fascism.The
headquarter of the new Republic
was in Salò, along the shores of
Lake Garda, and its political
centre was in Verona, where the
Republican Fascist Party was
restored. With the aim of going
back to its original sense and to
get the approval of people, the
Republic of Salò fell into the
hands of Germans and it
disappeared in April 1945 with
the end of the war in Italy.
“The Last 600 days of Salò” is a
documentary, that recreates the
atmosphere in Italy under
Fascism. It is based on the most
painstaking research in Italian
and foreign archives, and uses
thousands of metres of film shot
by Istituto Luce.

The film documentary “Italy after
the war”, wholly made using
archive material (1945-1948) from
Istituto Luce, recounts the birth
of the First Republic, and the way
in which Italians reacted to the
havoc of the war. A great deal of
the film is taken up with day-today life and the problems of
ordinary people, the hopes and
the plans for the reconstruction
of a nation after so many
massacres and so much
destruction.
China invited Antonioni to film in
the country, to visit and film in
specific areas: Beijing; Linxian
County; Jiangsu; Shanghai;
Suzhou. During his five week stay
Antonioni says that "We have just
wanted to get a picture of China,
we can't offer more". China
Chung Kuo is an important
document about China's social,
cultural and human daily life
history during the 70's.
The Flood of Florence of 1966
seen through the eyes of the
great director Franco Zeffirelli.
"On November 4, 1966, in
Florence the Arno river swollen
with dark, muddy waters, spilled
over sweeping away everything
in its way. When the waters
subsided, only destruction
enveloped the city."
August, 1960. In the middle of
the economic boom the XVII
Olympic Games are opened in
Rome. There are 5000 athletes
competing and the Italian Team
conquers 13 gold medals, 10
silver medals and 13 bronze
medals. Istituto Luce realizes the
official film of the event, with a
magnificent producing effort,
and with this work it achieves
success all over the world and a
nomination to the 1961 Academy
Awards edition.
