Roots: IV century b.C. (influences from the
Greeks, Etruscans, Roamans, Jews, Arabs
and Byzantines ).
1492: America was discovered and new
ingredients were introcuced.
Italian cuisine is known for its regional
diversity, abundance in taste and
seasonings.

The main feature of Italian cuisine is its
extreme simplicity.
Dishes and recipes are often created
by grandmothers were more than a
chef, so many recipes are suited to
home cooking.
Cheese, wine and coffee have
become an important part of Italian
cuisine.

A TIPICAL ITALIAN LUNCH
Especially in the South of
Italy, italian people love
have big lunch with all the
family or with friends.
Italians typically eat at
rectangular tables and fathers
or grandparents sit at the head
table.
MISTAKES THAT FOREIGNERS
MAKE ABOUT ITALIAN FOOD
1 CAPPUCCINO
Never drink a cappuccino
with meals. Coffee and
cappuccino are a real pride
for Italy. The first is to be
consumed after meals, the
second for breakfast,
accompanied by something
sweet.
2 RICE AND PASTA
The risotto and pasta were not
invented to accompany other
dishes as if they were bread (except
the ossobuco alla milanese, served
with saffron risotto).
3 OIL IN BOILING WATER
Do not add the oil in the dough. Any
dressing should be added after cooking.
4 SPAGHETTI WITH KETCHUP
One of the worst vices of foreigners is to
dress her plate of pasta with ketchup. "A
true culinary sin," has defined the
Acadamia Barilla.
5 RED AND WHITE CHECKED TABLECLOTHS
Abroad, it is difficult to find an Italian
restaurant that does not serve the dishes of
red and white checkered tablecloths. In
Italy, you do not. Nowhere.
