La ricerca del collettivo si concentra sulla formulazione di un metodo di analisi e rappresentazione della realtà in stretto e simbiotico legame con i concetti di ‘relazione di limite’ e ‘tempo rinviato’. Le proprietà intrinseche dei materiali e le leggi fisiche a cui sono sottoposti, le relazioni tra le nuove tecnologie con la quotidianità contemporanea, il progetto, sono i principali strumenti adoperati per costruire nuovi impianti cognitivi e nuovi dispositivi fascinativi di perdita dei sistemi di riferimento c o n v e n z i o n a l i . L’ a t t i v i t à d e l c o l l e t t i v o s i è r i v o l t a i n o l t r e a f o r n i r e attraverso un confronto con il mondo accademico, un contributo nella discussione contemporanea sul paesaggio e sullo spazio pubblico, ponendo il linguaggio dell’arte come possibile mediazione nella canonica dicotomia tra l’impostazione scientifico-oggettiva e quella estetico-percettiva dello spazio. Ideologie? Uno sciopero di lavoratori? Un’accattivante strategia di marketing? Un allenamento sportivo? E se fosse solo un respiro? L’ i d e a d i r e s p i r a r e a t t r a v e r s o u n m e g a f o n o n e l l o s p a z i o p u b b l i c o u n i s c e d u e modi di essere presenti nel contesto pubblico: il modo in cui viviamo, ogni giorno, silenziosamente ed intimamente; e il modo in cui dichiariamo la nostra esistenza, il modo in cui possiamo rivendicare e intendiamo spiegare al paesaggio sociale in cui viviamo, la profonda prossimità di esseri umani con il resto della gente che vive e condivide ogni giorno gli stessi spazi. Respirare nello spazio pubblico, farlo attraverso un megafono per creare un’attenzione ed un’immagine allo stesso tempo, è un dialogo circa il punto di partenza dal quale dovremmo ripartire per ricostruire significati e prospettive per una muova, e forse più profonda, identità pubblica e qualità di vita. In questo senso Respirare è come un messaggio rivoluzionario. I palazzi abbandonati nel loro essere simboli di un’assenza e della scomparsa di una vita che li ha creati e giustificati, dichiarano senza lasciare molti dubbi la temporaneità delle azioni dell’uomo, anche delle più grandi, anche di quelle che si solidificano nei monumenti. Questa dichiarazione ha un valore intenso perché tocca la dimensione più intima dell’uomo e trasforma i sontuosi palazzi di Palermo in dispositivi che continuamente ci ricordano la sensazione di instabilità in cui viviamo e una certa impotenza nel non essere in grado di riempire o arginare qualcosa che ci sfugge e sfuggendo ci nega. La volontà che ha costruito i Palazzi palermitani per celebrare uomini e società passate e che si mostra così drammatica nel loro abbandono, sembra fare lo stesso dei quadrati nel mare che boe rosse disegnano per gli stabilimenti balneari. Entrambi tentano di arginare una materia in continuo cambiamento, senza nessuna speranza di andare oltre la forma e il segno. Così dentro questa metafora quotidiana, l’instabilità e le contraddizioni dei Palazzi rilevano un’assenza ed un’inesorabile trasformazione: i palazzi come un quadrato nel mare e l’uomo come una boa che segna un punto inevitabilmente instabile. Tr a q u e s t e s e n z a d u b b i o l a f o r m a u r b a n a : e s i t o d i u n l e n t o e c o n t i n u o stratificarsi della storia socio-culturale dell’uomo e del suo disporsi nello spazio. Forma in movimento fatta di parti, piccole azioni dei singoli e grandi scelte collettive, compromessi con la morfologia del luogo e con il senso delle relazioni che vivono al suo interno. Gli insediamenti informali estremizzano questa bellezza legata ai processi di trasformazione urbana. In modo particolare la forma e il valore dei loro spazi pubblici sono l’affermazione della necessità esistenziale di una comunità di creare una gerarchia urbana e un equilibrio nel rapporto tra società e spazio, anche in condizioni di grande difficoltà. Osservata con questa sensibilità, l’articolazione di pieni e vuoti nello spazio pubblico di una favela ci aiuta a capire le regole profonde delle relazioni tra vivere sociale e lo spazio urbano. Oggi, queste forme e questi spazi possono essere la metafora di una nuova visione politica dell’uso e del progetto della città, una nuova forma di bellezza. Abbiamo chiesto ai cinquanta studenti del corso di farsi carico ognuno del ridisegno vettoriale di una parte delle favelas più grandi del mondo: Rocinha a Rio de Janeiro. In questo modo abbiamo voluto innescare un processo di “formalizzazione” di un insediamento informale, nel quale il metodo stesso di disegno ripete il legame tra particolare e forma complessiva di una città, rende forma il processo e viceversa processo la creazione della forma, richiamando così il senso della città come opera d’arte collettiva. Creando un ossimoro tra materiali e forme, lo specchio annulla la leggibilità convenzionale ciclica della meridiana orizzontale e trasforma quel tipo di lettura (che ne giustifica la posizione orizzontale) in strumento di rilevazione continua dello scorrere degli attimi e della loro inafferrabile non replicabilità. A questo principio, nel gioco degli opposti, il basamento di specchio associa un ulteriore contrapposizione che giustifica la dimensione scultorea del lavoro. Specchiando la terra, grazie alla sua leggera inclinazione, il basamento aggiunge allo specchio rivolto al cielo una condizione immanente dello scorrere del tempo. L’ o p e r a s i b a s a s u l l a p i a n t u m a z i o n e i n t e n s i v a d i u n f i o r e , i l M y o s o t i s o N o n ti scordar di me, come innesco di un processo simbolico d’espansione della pianta legato alle regole biologiche e alla stessa osservazione dell’opera d’arte. Av v i c i n a n d o s i a l q u a d r a t o d i M y o s o t i s l ’ o s s e r v a t o r e f a v o r i s c e p o t e n z i a l m e n t e la diffusione della pianta (e quindi la sua sopravvivenza), verso gli altri tre riquadri del giardino e verso l’esterno del complesso museale. In tal modo una regola semplice alla base dell’evoluzione della natura, diventa metafora del rapporto tra creazione, fruizione e diffusione dell’opera d’arte coinvolgendo attivamente lo spettatore nella sua definizione formale e di significato. A Palermo un giardino di matrice francescana è stato scelto come il luogo adatto dove trattare questi temi, poiché testimonianza del patrimonio storico di legami politico-sociali tra l’ordine francescano e la città. La vita del Myosotis, fiore della memoria, e la partecipazione del pubblico nella determinazione dell’opera dichiarano la possibilità di un approccio dinamico al patrimonio culturale, punto di riferimento dal quale partire per dare nuove forme in trasformazione al mondo che viviamo. Il movimento del giardino e la sua lenta contaminazione vengono rilevati costantemente dall’opera video-live posta al pian terreno del museo mettendo a confronto due diversi modi di rappresentare il paesaggio: la visione contemporanea che lo concepisce nella sua trasformazione e quella del passato dove una bellezza riquadrata nei dipinti ce ne propone una lettura simbolica. L’ o p e r a c h e e n t r a a f a r p a r t e d e l l a c o l l e z i o n e p e r m a n e n t e d e l l a g a l l e r i a d’arte moderna, sfrutta un sistema di video sorveglianza per creare un livevideo del chiostro ripreso dai quattro angoli. Il lavoro si colloca tra le opere sul paesaggio di Francesco Lojacono e quelle di carattere politico sull’esperienza del risorgimento in Sicilia. La collocazione interna riprende così il senso etico-sociale e politico che il paesaggio, e il giardino come sua sintesi, assumono per la nostra cultura. Dal suo punto più panoramico, posto in corrispondenza della sede del Comune quasi come uno stemma, si vedono campi a ulivo, il greto del fiume, la lunga linea di un ponte, i monti e i paesi vicini e tra questi prospettive profondissime. Ta n t a r i c c h e z z a è i m m e r s a n e l l a p r o b l e m a t i c i t à d e l m e r i d i o n e d ’ I t a l i a , dove per molto tempo, questi campi sono stati esclusivamente il luogo di lavoro e di fatica dei paesi che li sovrastavano, ma dove soprattutto un terribile terremoto e l’avidità dell’uomo hanno creato una sofferenza nell’intimo rapporto tra gli abitanti e questi luoghi. Oggi, non c’è ancora nella popolazione locale quel riconoscimento culturale che fa del Paese un Paesaggio e del Paesaggio una risorsa. Non c’è in altre parole una relazione diversa rispetto al periodo agricolo che consenta di guardare con serenità al panorama e goderne in tutta la sua forza. Forse perché quelle immagini sono anche momenti di dolore, una ferita aperta, e guardarla rinnova un sentimento pungente che rende ancora più profondo il valore di questo paesaggio. Nel piazzale del belvedere, come accade in molti comuni a tradizione agricola in Italia, le panchine pubbliche sono rivolte verso la strada e danno le spalle al panorama. Si realizza in questo modo una spontanea negazione del paesaggio, a tratti sbalorditiva, che trova nella storia di questi luoghi una sua legittima giustificazione. Il nostro intervento consiste nel ruotare e dipingere di bianco una di queste panchine. Con questo un semplice gesto vogliamo parlare di tutte quelle cose che abbiamo sotto gli occhi, delle bellezze che fanno parte della nostra esistenza e che accade di dimenticare nella quotidianità. Ma vogliamo anche riflettere su tutte le parti della nostra vita, belle e dolorose, che non abbiamo affatto dimenticato, ma che è difficile guardare con serenità. Il nostro lavoro invita a trovare un luogo di riflessione intima dove il riconoscimento personale e collettivo convergono nel riconoscimento del paesaggio che contribuiamo a creare ogni giorno. Il filmato viene catturato da una web-cam installata sulla nave per poi essere condiviso su internet. La nostra operazione é di decontestualizzare il filmato dal luogo (virtuale) per il quale nasce e renderlo il racconto di un viaggio. In questo modo il racconto diventa a sua volta una metafora sul modo di percepire e conoscere il mondo nel nostro tempo. Navigare é una parola, ma é anche un’idea antica, originaria, che l’avvento di internet ha permesso di declinare in maniera contemporanea e che per questo oggi é ancora in grado di evocare i percorsi verso la conoscenza. Nel racconto del viaggio si esplicita la “mediatezza” della contemporaneità, dove la verità e le convinzioni rimangono in bilico tra i filtri culturali e le potenzialità tecnologiche a nostra disposizione. Essi rappresentano le immagini in diretta delle sei webcam che la Città d e l Va t i c a n o h a d e c i s o d i c o n d i v i d e r e s u l s u o s i t o u f f i c i a l e . La tecnica usata è quella del foro stenopeico che consente alla luce di questi paesaggi, filtrata da quella del web, di imprimersi senza mediazioni sulla carta fotografica. Pensiamo all’atto di volontà che porta a condividere un paesaggio sulla rete come ad un gesto di auto-rappresentazione che manifesta, attraverso il paesaggio, una delle identità contemporanee. L’ i n t e r v e n t o v u o l e f a r v e d e r e , r i f i g u r a r e , a f f e r m a r e l ’ a u t o r i a l i t à d i u n paesaggio non solo come priorità dell’arte (necessaria), ma anche come principio di riconoscimento collettivo della comunità che lo percepisce e decide di comunicarlo. Come sostiene Alain Rogér il paesaggio non esiste. O almeno non esiste fino a quando qualcuno non lo esplicita definendolo, riquadrandolo, rendendolo manifesto in un’unione dialettica di significante e significato. Fino a prima di quel momento esistono solo paesi. E’ con un processo di riconoscimento culturale, l’Artialisation, che l’artista lo “inventa” caricando quell’unione dinamica di spazio e attività dell’uomo di un valore quasi sempre profondamente esistenziale. Ogni epoca ha creato i suoi paesaggi riversando le proprie idee nel rapporto in continua trasformazione con i luoghi. Luce, forme e colori diventano strumenti sintattici che articolano sempre nuovi significati. La nostra epoca non si sottrae a questa continuità. Il racconto del paesaggio in questa prospettiva è un atto di volontà, della volontà di creare delle descrizioni di ciò che siamo qui ed ora attraverso lo spazio che viviamo mostrando agli altri quello che si vede dalla nostra finestra. Oggi, come pensa Luisa Bonesio, il riconoscimento di un paesaggio ha un valore profondamente sociale ed è ancora la volontà di territorializzare, ovvero di segnare con gesti culturali l’appartenenza ad un preciso luogo, che l’uomo esprime nella determinazione di un paesaggio. Come per lo Stimmung dei paesaggisti romantici, oggi esiste ancora una sintonia armonica con lo spazio che abitiamo sempre più carica di valori s o c i a l i c h e n o n p o s s o n o p r e s c i n d e r e d a l c o n c e t t o d i c o m u n i t à . L’ e s i s t e n z a di una comunità globale che raccoglie e condivide webcam da tutto il mondo e crea la potenzialità di riquadrarne frammenti rendendoli significativi è un fenomeno contemporaneo che impone di ripensare ai linguaggi che abbiamo usato fino ad adesso per creare o rendere visibili i paesaggi. Ripensamento che nasce sia perché l’atto decisionale di mostrare ciò che vediamo dalla nostra finestra svela la volontà di comunicare la propria esistenza, sia perché questa comunicazione si avvale di paradigmi dello spazio che fino all’avvento del web non erano possibili. Possiamo potenzialmente dire a chiunque quale sia il nostro paesaggio, possiamo farlo anche se chi ci sta ascoltando non vi si trova di fronte e infine lo facciamo mostrandone il movimento e quell’ininterrotto percorso di trasformazione endemico a cui ci stanno abituando le idee sul paesaggio contemporaneo. La nostra scelta è di riquadrare quest’immagine del mondo per rappresentare un valore esistenziale in cui pensiamo di essere pienamente coinvolti. La luce è quindi quella dello schermo, l’immagine quella di chi ha deciso di comunicarla, il paesaggio che rendiamo palese è globale. Il nostro atto di volontà consiste nel raccogliere questi frammenti per renderli paesaggio contemporaneo. Abbiamo deciso di raccoglierli senza mediazioni, lentamente con delle pose stenopeiche, i fogli sensibili si imbevono della luce del mondo mediata da quella della tecnologia lasciando che lo scorrere di questi luoghi crei una traccia che è forma e movimento. Ricchezza biologica come capacità spontanea della natura di creare bellezza, valore paesaggistico delle rive come principio di interazione tra uomo ed evoluzione biologica che interviene attivamente in questa bellezza. L’ o b i e t t i v o è p e r q u e s t o d i c r e a r e u n o s p a z i o i n c u i i m m e r g e r s i n e l paesaggio per comprenderlo e allo stesso modo entrare a farne parte. Lavorando per sottrazione vengono tracciate nel folto manto vegetale dell’area d’intervento dei percorsi. Forma, dimensioni e struttura di questi percorsi nascono per far osservare e comprendere sia la vegetazione che il rapporto di questo spazio con la città. Il richiamo formale e funzionale è al Giardino dei Semplici come esperienza culturale e storica per l’osservazione e lo studio della n a t u r a , q u e l l o t e o r i c o c o n c e t t u a l e s i l e g a a l l e t e o r i e s u l Te r z o P a e s a g g i o di Clément e alla Convenzione Europea firmata a Firenze nel 2000. Al centro dell’area viene creato uno spazio circolare che richiama una piazza e che si connette visivamente con quella della Biblioteca Nazionale stabilendo un rapporto tra due punti di conservazione ed evoluzione della cultura. Il paesaggio si fa metafora della realtà e l’arte strumento per leggerla e comprenderla. Il ruolo dell’uomo osservando e percorrendo chiarisce (simbolicamente) il valore attivo del suo ruolo nel paesaggio, si svincola da mero osservatore e ne diventa co-autore. Il museo RISO e il suo recente percorso istituzionale sono per la città di Palermo un grande contenitore di significato, simbolo di contraddizioni che investono su diversi piani le complessità urbane e quelle legate al m o n d o d e l l ’ a r t e . Le opere d’arte per lo spazio pubblico sono in grado di dare profondità alle percezioni civiche della società e rafforzare il legame tra la gente e i luoghi. Esse chiariscono quel limite dell’esperienza nella città che si gioca tra l’oggettivo valore spaziale e funzionale degli edifici o delle piazze e l’intimo (anche in senso collettivo) valore simbolico che queste rappresentano. Se l’arte è in grado di amplificare le tensioni simboliche che gli spazi pubblici contengono, allora il messaggio è condiviso, trasversale, diventando proprietà collettiva e valore proprio degli abitanti. Il principio di condivisione appartiene al nostro tempo in modo particolare perché nello spazio virtuale che creano le nuove tecnologie si ampliano gli spazi pubblici e le possibilità d’intervento ed espressione. Forse è il sentimento di condivisione che è spirito del nostro tempo. O forse è solo il costante bisogno di comunicare che ricerca potenzialità per creare nuovi messaggi. Le tecnologie web hanno estremizzato e diversificato esponenzialmente la comunicazione fornendo strumenti che permettono una rappresentazione immediata di noi stessi e del mondo che ci sta attorno. L’ e s i s t e n z a d i u n ’ a p p l i c a z i o n e p e r s m a r t h p h o n e s c h e p e r m e t t e a c i a s c u n o di condividere una web cam e mostrare cosa si vede dalla propria finestra deve avere a che fare con tutto questo. Dalle diverse parti del mondo, gente diversa ha deciso di usare questa potenzialità creando spontaneamente un archivio autoalimentato di immagini del mondo in movimento. Queste web-cam rappresentano generalmente paesaggi, città viste dall’alto, lungomari, aeroporti visti dalle torri di controllo, strade di normali quartieri residenziali americani. Ma in questo carnet eterogeneo di immagini c’è qualcosa di più: una sorta di tentativo di autorappresentazione attraverso il paesaggio quotidiano che diventa sintesi delle identità. Il nostro progetto prevede di collegare dei tablets a questa applicazione e per ognuno scegliere una diversa web-cam in un diverso punto g e o g r a f i c o . Pietro e la città di Roma. Questo punto di tangenza collega due identità culturali ed esistenziali diverse è un luogo di incertezza, uno spazio di transizione. Il varco aperto verso la città dal portico del Bernini è un passaggio simbolico che collega la città di Dio alla città dell’uomo, per noi rispettivamente lo spazio della fede (che aggiunge alla realtà il valore concettuale della religione) e lo spazio della materia (basato sui sensi e la tangibilità oggettiva). La linea è creata con un programma di disegno vettoriale, viene geolocalizzata con gli strumenti disponibili su internet e resa visibile nella piazza sfruttando le potenzialità della Realtà Aumentata (AR). La scelta della misura della linea nasce dalla volontà di posizionare nello spazio un elemento scultoreo che mette insieme la forma e il tempo. Poichè la luce è un elemento fondamentale per la comprensione della scultura e poichè un anno luce definisce la distanza coperta dalla velocità della luce in un anno, il lavoro permette di pensare che la completa visione della scultura sia rimandata nel tempo. Queste condizioni non essendo realizzabili in concreto devono essere mediate necessariamente dalla tecnologia della Realtà Aumentata attraverso la quale allo spazio vengono aggiunte potenzialità proprie dell’ambiente virtuale che rendono possibile in questo caso rappresentare una linea che ha la dimensione del tempo. Si procede perciò ad una sovrapposizione tra due contesti spaziali: quello vettoriale (che assumiamo come teorico) e quello tridimensionale della realtà, mettendo in risalto come l’evoluzione tecnologica possa rendere sensibile un concetto teorico/scientifico integrandolo in una dimensione sensibile. Il lavoro vuole argomentare alcune delle domande che l’evoluzione tecnologica porta all’attenzione dell’uomo contemporaneo. Le dimensioni della realtà e della virtualità vedono ogni giorno ridefinire i limiti che li separano. La netta distinzione tra fisico e virtuale diventa sempre più problematica in ragione di un confronto tra le parti che viene continuamente aggiornato dalle nuove tecnologie. La Realtà Aumentata ha fatto fare a questi cambiamenti un balzo verso un terreno particolarmente accidentato dalle incertezze e dalle ambiguità. Questa tecnologia ha il grande merito di avere rafforzato alcune domande fondamentali sulla identità dello spazio contemporaneo e su tutti i suoi attributi tra i quali il nostro lavoro ha scelto di affrontare quello della scultura. Poichè attraverso la AR lo spazio può essere implementato di contenuti virtuali, resi esperibili nella realtà fisica, con questo lavoro vogliamo anche comunicare il dubbio su quale sia oggi il limite che segna la differenza tra realtà e virtualità. Questo limite coinvolge domande parallele e dicotomie antiche che le nuove accezioni di spazio mettono in discussione. Siamo interessati particolarmente a quei confini sempre in divenire che separano le idee, la loro rappresentazione e la loro realizzazione. Ci chiediamo quali siano i concetti e le condizioni virtuali che possono entrare attivamente a fare parte dello spazio fisico e quali siano invece quelle caratteristiche del mondo digitale e della rete che possono essere solamente sovrapposte senza che i due sistemi (realtà e virtualità) perdano la loro identità “classica”. La scultura è il mezzo che usiamo per riportare queste domande mettendo in discussione che la tridimensionalità dell’oggetto sia l’elemento primario per la definizione scultorea. The purpose of this work is to discuss some of the issues that t e c h n o l o g i c a l e v o l u t i o n b r i n g s t o c o n t e m p o r a r y m a n ’s a t t e n t i o n . T h e l i m i t s t h a t s e p a r a t e t h e d i m e n s i o n s o f re a l i t y a n d v i r t u a l i t y a re r e d e f i n e d c o n t i n u a l l y. T h e c l e a r d i s t i n c t i o n b e t w e e n p h y s i c a l a n d v i r t u a l i s m o re p ro b l e m a t i c a l b e c a u s e o f a c o m p a r i s o n o f t h e t w o s i d e s which is constantly updated by new technologies. Augmented Reality p u s h e d t h e s e c h a n g e s t o w a rd s a t e r r a i n m a d e b u m p y b y u n c e r t a i n t y a n d a m b i g u i t y. T h i s t e c h n o l o g y h a s t h e g re a t m e r i t o f h a v i n g re i n f o rc e d s o m e fundamental questions concerning the identity of contemporary space and all of its attributes, among which our work has chosen to deal w i t h t h e s c u l p t u r a l . S i n c e t h ro u g h A R s p a c e m a y b e i m p l e m e n t e d w i t h v i r t u a l c o n t e n t s , a n d t h u s a b l e t o b e e x p e r i e n c e d i n p h y s i c a l r e a l i t y, w e w i s h t o c o m m u n i c a t e t h ro u g h t h i s w o r k t h e d o u b t o n w h a t t h e l i m i t i s t o d a y b e t w e e n r e a l i t y a n d v i r t u a l i t y. This limit involves parallel issues and ancient dichotomies which the new meanings of space place into question. We a r e p a r t i c u l a r l y i n t e r e s t e d i n t h o s e c o n t i n u a l l y e v o l v i n g l i m i t s w h i c h s e p a r a t e i d e a s , t h e i r r e p r e s e n t a t i o n a n d t h e i r r e a l i z a t i o n . A supporto di questa insufficienza viene spesso la tecnologia e il web in particolare. Ma c’è anche un immaginario collettivo che ci fa pensare alla tecnologia come qualcosa sempre un po’ distante, qualcosa di controllato da macchine di cui ci sfuggono molti perchè. Però la separazione tra quello che vorremmo trasmettere della nostra esperienza e quello che possiamo comunicare con la tecnologia, è sempre difficile da conciliare perchè quelle macchine sono troppo diverse dalle nostre azioni e a volte le azioni sono troppo poco chiare. Forse per questo l’uomo contemporaneo continua a ricercare i passaggi giusti, le congiunzioni tra i due linguaggi che siano coerenti con la s u a v i t a . L’ u o m o c h e s i m u o v e , c h e t o c c a , c h e s c e g l i e , p r e n d e e r i p o r t a altrove vorrebbe avere nelle mani la chiarezza della tecnologia. Noi abbiamo deciso di creare un timbro ad inchiostro che riporta un marker di realtà aumentata al quale è associata l’immagine del cielo di Firenze ripresa in diretta dal nostro studio. Il marker permette di aggiungere al gesto fisico la potenzialità t e c n o l o g i c a . Ti m b r a r e c o m e g e s t o a n t i c o d e l r a p p o r t o d e l l ’ u o m o c o n l a comunicazione (ma anche come gesto di affermazione) diventa in questo modo l’atto di passaggio con cui ci si appropria delle potenzialità tecnologiche per aggiungere contenuti alla realtà. Partendo dall’esperienza del nostro recente lavoro “Circa Uguale” in cui lo stesso marker e lo stesso contenuto erano stampati sulla copertina di una rivista diffondendo il cielo in un’esperienza collettiva, il timbro riporta ad una dimensione più intima la dinamica della realtà aumentata. Poter spargere con un gesto il cielo è la dichiarazione della consapevolezza di un passaggio, accetta l’esistenza di un livello aumentato della realtà dove tutto può essere ripensato come supporto di comunicazione, come superficie di passaggio. I codici sono strumenti per approfondire, per andare oltre la forma alla ricerca di un significato. Li usiamo per comunicare velocemente per dire che lì, celato dietro un segno c’è un messaggio. Sono porte ma anche richiami, rimandi concordati, tesi a far permanere un messaggio. A volte nel tempo diventano tracce di una cultura, veri e propri contenitori che custodiscono il rapporto dell’uomo con l’espressione. I codici sono articolazioni di elementi primari. Sono fatti da unità estremamente semplici che disposte secondo una regola sempre diversa contengono la potenzialità di esprimere tutti i messaggi. Atomi neutri che collegano ad un contenuto attraverso la forma seguendo la stessa regola degli elementi che compongono il mondo. Ogni cultura genera codici e la nostra, quella del mondo digitale, non si sottrae a questa necessità. I QR code (letteralmente codice di risposta rapida) sono diventati nella nostra quotidianità le forme che esprimono il concetto di collegamento. Riportano il collegamento che più caratterizza la nostra contemporaneità ovvero quello tra la realtà e il mondo virtuale. Queste forme complesse eppure estremamente riconoscibili sono diventate un linguaggio funzionale di quel percorso a cui tende la tecnologia aumentando ogni giorno le possibilità di leggere il mondo. Privati di un contenuto specifico, astratti dall’uso funzionale i QR code sono forme di potenzialità. La nobilissima storia di questa pianta è legata alla città in modo unico, dal più recente viale delle Palme ai giardini della Cuba Sottana fino alla collezione mirabile del giardino botanico la palma è ed è stata da sempre parte della quotidianità dei palermitani. Da pochi anni le palme hanno iniziato a subire un’atroce attacco parassitario che ha ridotto questi nobili monumenti al paesaggio urbano di Palermo in strazianti resti vegetali. Le palme, alte e antiche che testimoniavano la nobiltà delle passeggiate ottocentesche e la capacità di Palermo di mantenere un legame sottile e disinvolto con la storia, sono diventate anch’esse dei ruderi. Attorno, a lato e sopra i quali la vita continua a scorrere come accadeva già da tempo per gli edifici. Ma non tutto è andato perduto. Alcuni palermitani si sono opposti a questo processo degenerativo, dai giardini delle loro case o dalle aiuole di fronte ai loro palazzi è partito un processo di rigenerazione: curandole le palme sono rinate. L’ e s i t o f o r m a l e d e l l e c u r e n e c e s s a r i e p e r q u e s t a r i n a s c i t a è m o l t o chiaro: da un fusto alto ed evidentemente stratificato, una nuova e vivissima palma ricresce come sulle spalle di un gigante. Sembra l’immagine della storia. Queste palme, nella loro silenziosa presenza, nel loro voler mantenere viva una continuità del paesaggio, sono un’immagine condivisa di una possibile metafora della rinascenza nella città. Noi vorremmo mettere alla luce il valore simbolico di questo gesto pratico come uno spunto di riflessione che collega i palermitani alla loro città. Il nostro progetto vuole toccare il limite tra l’esperienza estetica ed una profonda consapevolezza personale e collettiva: vorremmo far riconoscere nella nuova vita della palma Palermo. Il lavoro consiste nel mostrare l’immagine in diretta di una palma palermitana (palma canariensis) in rinascenza (ovvero in un evidente processo di ricrescita risultato delle cure successive all’attacco p a r a s s i t a r i o ) . L’ i m m a g i n e v e r r à r i p r e s a i n d i r e t t a e r i p o r t a t a t r a m i t e un collegamento internet su di uno schermo, saranno poste in sovraimpressione latitudine, longitudine, ora e data della ripresa. Queste coincidendo con il momento e (pressapoco) con il luogo dell’osservatore, sono un’esplicitazione della relazione spazio/ temporale tra immagine e pubblico. L’ i n s t a l l a z i o n e p r e v e d e i n o l t r e c h e a s s i e m e a l l o s c h e r m o v e n g a n o dichiarati gli altri componenti tecnologici necessari per la realizzazione d e l l ’ o p e r a ( c o m p u t e r, c a v i e d e v e n t u a l i s i s t e m i d i c o n n e s s i o n e i n t e r n e t ) . Istante dopo istante l’immagine propone un processo di rinascita esistente ma non rilevabile. Il media usato, il video streaming, dichiara l’esistenza di questo movimento con l’intenzione di attribuirvi un valore simbolico. L’ a s p e t t o c h e p r o d u r r à l a w e b - c a m a s s i e m e a l l a d i c h i a r a z i o n e d e l mezzo usato per la realizzazione dell’immagine, saranno elementi di una composizione che vuole sottolineare il valore di contemporaneità dell’immagine: contemporanea perchè ripresa nello stesso istante in un altro luogo, contemporanea perchè la sua fruizione estetica la rende icona di un modo di recepire le immagini oggi. La rinascenza di cui si parla è un processo in atto che le nuove tecnologie e le potenzialità del web possono rendere visibile e assoluto. La palma sullo schermo smette di essere una in particolare, ma diventa anche la possibilità di esserle tutte indistintamente. E’ un auspicio verso la città intera. Da queste considerazioni ne esce indebolita la possibilità di trovare un senso al monumento contemporaneo come espressione di valori stabili da tramandare. Rimane però aperta la discussione sull’idea della trasformazione come processo di assestamento che può rappresentare la contemporaneità, rimane l’occasione di fare proprio il dinamismo delle cose come principio in cui riconoscersi. Il Monumento al Futuro è un cumulo di terra di forma conica sul quale viene piantato un albero giovane di Melo selvatico. Il cumulo che fa da basamento, custodisce le radici. Queste cresceranno fino a quando nel tempo non si riconcilieranno con la terra ed entreranno a fare parte integrante del contesto. Con questa intenzione vogliamo sottolineare un processo inverso del radicamento delle idee di un monumento. Non radici estranee, già date che si impiantano artificialmente in un contesto, ma radici che crescono in un luogo preciso, che si leggono in un albero che si sviluppa, e che cercano la loro forma in un percorso di evoluzione. Ma anche radici che solidificano un basamento, che armano la stabilità di un simbolo e che lo affermano perché lo consolidano nel tempo, simboli di un presente che si costruisce organicamente e crea la forma del futuro. Monumento al Futuro si propone inoltre come l’innesco di un processo di crescita dove elementi semplici (un albero con le sue radici e della terra) assumono una valenza simbolica. La forma del basamento nasce dalla volontà che i frutti maturi dell’albero possano rotolare fino al suolo e disporsi caoticamente. Da questi frutti potranno nascere altri alberi la cui disposizione sarà leggibile nel t e m p o . L’ i n t e n z i o n e è d i c r e a r e l e c o n d i z i o n i a f f i n c h é l ’ a l b e r o g e n e r i un bosco di meli la cui disposizione spiega il significato formale del futuro. Il futuro diventa uno strumento di rivalutazione dei processi dinamici, usando elementi naturali vogliamo parlare dell’uomo e della necessità di accogliere le trasformazioni come principio evolutivo. Piero in Campo (SI)_ _ S . P i e ro i n C a m p o ( S i e n a ) d a m _ Il progetto prevede di piantare lungo il perimetro dell’invaso abbandonato di S. Piero in Campo circa 2000 semi di edera Helix a distanza regolare. Poiché l’edera è una pianta infestante e poiché sono note le sue capacità distruttive sulle costruzioni, l’obiettivo del gesto è l’innesco di un processo in cui è accettabile prevedere che in un orizzonte temporale molto lungo, le piante, dopo avere ricoperto la diga, sgretolino il cemento armato cancellando l’infrastruttura. “Se si smette di guardare il paesaggio come l’oggetto di un’attività umana subito si scopre [...] una quantità di spazi indecisi, privi di funzione sui quali è difficile posare un nome. Quest’insieme non appartiene né al territorio dell’ombra né a quello della luce. Si situa ai m a rg i n i . G u a r d a n d o l a Va l d ’ O r c i a d a l o n t a n o s i scopre quanto siano vere le deduzioni del pensatore francese, in quel territorio modellato “dall’organizzazione razionale” dell’uomo ai margini dei campi, “nei recessi dimenticati dalle coltivazioni” lembi di terra abbandonata, “residui”, evolvono indisturbati una vita autonoma. Nello stesso sguardo rientra però un altro tipo di abbandono, quello della diga di San Piero in Campo. Immobile, quest’infrastruttura dimenticata si attesta sul paesaggio come una cicatrice di una violenza passata che ha lasciato il segno. Anch’essa residuo di un’organizzazione razionale dell’uomo, anch’essa abbandonata, assomiglia ai residui lungo i campi ma nella sua inerzia alle trasformazioni della natura ne nega il valore evolutivo. S e i l Te r z o p a e s a g g i o è l ’ i n s i e m e d i q u e i r e s i d u i , f r u t t o d e l l ’ o r g a n i z z a z i o n e razionale dell’uomo, che sono rifugio per la diversità, allora l’insieme dei residui che nega la diversità e l’evoluzione è il suo Negativo. Noi d e f i n i a m o N e g a t i v o d e l Te r z o p a e s a g g i o q u e l l ’ i n s i e m e d i s o m o g e n e o d i residui nati dall’organizzazione culturale e razionale dell’uomo, quei modi abbandonati di pensare il rapporto dell’uomo con lo spazio e il tempo, che si oppongono alle dinamiche di trasformazione del mondo. C o s ì c o m e “ l a s c o p e r t a ” d e l Te r z o p a e s a g g i o s i i n n e s t a a l l ’ i n t e r n o d e l concetto di paesaggio come un approfondimento, allora l’idea del suo Negativo vuole essere un’implementazione che permette di definire quegli episodi di osservazione dello spazio che oggi sono sospesi nella semplice caratterizzazione qualitativa. Definire l’idea di un N e g a t i v o d e l Te r z o p a e s a g g i o è u n a t t o s t r u m e n t a l e . I n d i v i d u a r e l e caratteristiche che accomunano molti episodi prepotenti sul territorio è servito a chiarire di quali temi si poteva parlare attraverso la diga. Nel rapporto di questa con il paesaggio intorno risultava evidente una differenza di confronto con il tempo tra l’opera dell’uomo che agisce con la natura e l’opera dell’uomo che vuole imporsi sulla natura. La natura diventava una metafora del tempo e quella diga abbandonata era il volto del drammatico rapporto che ha l’uomo con la degenerazione e c o n l a s u a m o r t a l i t à . M e n t r e i l p a e s a g g i o d e l l a Va l d ’ O r c i a l e n t a m e n t e si trasforma e si rigenera, l’opera dell’uomo che voleva sfidare le trasformazioni si deteriora e degenera da strumento a rudere. E’ il tempo il tema del lavoro, visto ad una scala più ampia del tempo dell’uomo. Un tempo in cui le singole vite e i singoli gesti devono essere consapevoli della loro relatività. Il tempo può trasformare o d e g e n e r a r e l e c o s e . L’ u o m o h a s e m p r e c o m b a t t u t o c o n t r o q u e s t o a s p e t t o e più lo scontro con il tempo è forte più è drammatico. Quando abbiamo deciso di piantare l’edera sulla diga, abbiamo voluto sovrapporre due c o n c e z i o n i t e m p o r a l i d i v e r s e . Il lavoro vuole aggiungere alla rappresentazione di un autoritratto il carattere della permanenza nel tempo senza variare in alcun modo il soggetto rappresentato. La fotografia infatti è strettamente legata ai supporti che la contengono e che ci permettono di riprodurla. Questo significa che la visualizzazione di un’immagine possiede un limite temporale legato alla relatività fisica o tecnologica del mezzo su cui viene visualizzata e archiviata. Ad oggi un’immagine è precaria perchè non potrà essere riprodotta “per sempre” sia che essa sia analogica che digitale. Quello che non è precario è il codice binario che sta alla base di un file immagine digitale. Prorpio in quanto codice il linguaggio binario è la componente permanente del dato digitale che permette di superare il vincolo del tempo dando la possibilità di ricomporre l’immagine in qualsiasi momento. Il lavoro è composto da segni indecifrabili che si imprimono sulle pagine scandendo ritmi precisi, esprimendo un messaggio incomprensibile; ma nella struttura esiste una regola definita, creata dalla stampante in piena libertà, con un impulso: una regola della macchina. Un’imperfezione nell’infallibile sequenza logica della macchina avvicina il risultato della stampante all’opera d’arte. Come se fosse possibile creare un ideale parallelo tra la scrittura in versi di un uomo e il delirio di una normale stampante a getto d’inchiostro.
