Così, Nello Grossule ricorda quando nel 1937 aiutando suo padre a riparare le scarpe apprendeva le tecniche di calzolaio ed iniziava a dilettarsi nella costruzione
dei suoi primi scarponi da montagna.
Scarponi che Nello costruiva per sé e per gli abitanti
del paese e che, grazie alla cura ed alla passione che
gli dedicava, erano molto apprezzati. Furono proprio
questi apprezzamenti a convincerlo sempre di più
che il segreto era proprio quello di avere una qualità
sempre migliore. Nei primi anni ‘50, decide di fare
qualche macchinario, assume alcuni collaboratori e dà
così inizio al suo piccolo laboratorio artigiano. Nello,
con la crescente esperienza, elabora tecniche di lavorazione innovative e si dedica alla ricerca di materiali
sempre migliori, a partire dai pellami che ancora oggi
seleziona personalmente. Con il passare degli anni, i
suoi prodotti si fanno conoscere in tutta l’Italia per il
loro gran comfort e per la loro resistenza e mentre il
suo laboratorio assume nuovi operai specializzati, egli
decide di dare vita al marchio Gronell.
Attualmente l’attività è portata avanti da Fabio e
Mario Grossule che, con la stessa passione del padre,
hanno saputo coniugare l’esperienza pratica con
la ricerca mantenendo saldo il nome del marchio.
Oggi come ieri il nome Gronell è simbolo indelebile
ISO 9002 ottenuta nel dicembre 1999. Gronell,
occupa oggi un posto decisamente importante a
livello nazionale ed internazionale nella produzione
di calzature tecniche da montagna. Un’arte antica
sapientemente tramandata sino alla attuale convivenza
a scelte stilistiche altrettanto innovative e a materiali
cultura di un tempo rimane inalterato; la ricerca tecnica
è in continua crescita.

boy I began the craft that had been my father’s,
learning the artisan rules and the secrets of the
materials. It was my passion to create and the

Nello Grossule remembers with these words. In 1937,
he began learning the age-old trade of the shoemaker
at the beginning for himself, but eventually for many of
the inhabitants of the village, he furthered this passion.
The appreciation for the care and enthusiasm for the
products he created convinced him that quality was
the key to his success. In the early 1950s he poured his
life’s earnings into the investment of equipment and a
few select craftsmen and began manufacturing in his

craftsmen and created his trademark Gronell. At the
present time the trade is carried out by Nello’s sons
Fabio and Mario Grossule, in these years they have
been able to match practice experience with scientiGronell
December 1999. Gronell today holds an essential place,
nationally and internationally, in the manufacture of
technical mountaineering shoes.This ancient craft has
been handed down wisely to synchronize with highly
modern technology, supported by innovative styles and
