ingresso.
HDMI, audio e RS-232. Su cavo CAT è stato impiegato
l’extender DTP HDMI 301 conforme HDCP. Altri pannelli
Configurator Professional.
On 29th November last we visited the Milan leg at the
Novotel Milan Linate Airport: a room fitted out with the
product innovations connected and operating in systems
which simulate some of the most interesting applications;

a room beside it was dedicated to training which, in the case of Milan, explained Rainer Stiehl
Vice President of Marketing, EMEA of Extron, was home to two workshops dedicated to
configuration software and XTP systems. The importance of the roadshows, explained Stiehl,
lies in the possibility to receive feedback directly from the installers, regarding their needs, the
requests of possible new products and any difficulty that can be encountered in installing the
appliances. In actual fact the Milanese appointment was flocked by professionals intent on
getting a greater insight into technical issues with Extron personnel on hand in the exhibition
room and during the workshops, which saw the enthusiastic participation of many.
INNOVATIONS FOR 2012
Account Manager for Italy Walter Brambilla (see www.connessioni.biz video section)
illustrates the innovations for the new year. The most important innovation is the XTP
Crosspoint switching distribution system for digital (and analog) AV, to which was dedicated
one of the demonstration “stations” with the appliances connected: it is based on a modular
configurable matrix, so it can be expanded to 16x16 or 32x32 and can be integrated with
input or output cards to transmit over long distances, when necessary (with specific receivers
and XTP transmitters). Local connectivity and extended transmission for HD video, audio,
RS-232, Ethernet and power supply up to 100m occur by CAT 5 cable; the system is HDCP
compliant and integrates the Extron SpeedSwitch technology for ultra-fast and reliable digital
switching; finally, 24/7 monitoring and the possibility to replace the modular cards on the spot
make the XTP CrossPoint suitable for the most critical applications. The configuration occurs
via software, while the control via touch screen, like the 10” TLP 1000MV model (used for
demonstration simulation) with PoE and integrated MTP twisted pair for S-Video input or
composite video and audio on CAT5. For the TouchLink models the application for iPad is also
available to allow mobility control, replicating the buttons of the TouchLink touch panel.

The scaler with seamless switching and HDCP DVS 605 was also the object of a
demonstration panel, which saw it connected to a display and to five input devices, by way
of example: a Blu-ray, two laptops (one via DisplayPort for HDMI, the other VGA) and a PC
(HDMI), an amplifier for the speakers and a camera document (S-Video). The equipment
includes three HDMI inlets, two high resolution universal analog videos and simultaneous
HDMI and analog outputs, compatibility with a wide variety of video formats, de-interlacing
1,080i, DeepColor, seamless switching and options to control Ethernet, RS-232, USB and
closure contacts. The models available include the 3G/HD-SD output with genlock. The scaler
also offers functions of windowing which can be configured and recalled via a control system.
Connected and ready for the demonstration was also the H.264 encoder for live media
streaming SME 100 to transmit DVI, RGB, HDTV signals and to a standard definition on IP
networks, with the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC standards of codification. It consists of a three-inlet
switcher with buffered audio and loop through, EDID Minder to manage EDID among the
devices connected, upscaling and downscaling, automatic detection of entry format.
Another demonstration panel was dedicated to Extron technologies to transmit digital video
signals on copper, twisted pair and optic fiber: a cable for each kind was connected to a
transmitter (connected to a source) and HDMI receiver, and then to a display to verify the final
result. The HDMI Foxbox extenders for HDMI, audio and RS-232 were used for the optic
fiber. The HDCP compliant DTP HDMI 301 extender was used over the CAT5 cable.
Finally, other panels were dedicated to systems in optic fiber HDCP compliant for HDMI,
audio and control and to the configuration software for the AV Global Configurator
Professional control systems.
