Curriculum Vitae Dr. Margherita Morpurgo Jan 2014 Posizione attuale e ambito di ricerca Ricercatore Universitario confermato (settore CHIM09, Tecnologia Farmaceutica) presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Farmaceutiche, Facoltà di Farmacia, dell’Università degli Studi di Padova. Svolge la sua attività di ricerca presso il laboratorio di tecnologia farmaceutica del Dipartimento di Scienze Farmaceutiche dell’Università di Padova. La sua attivita' di ricerca si svolge nell'ambito del drug delivery e nello sviluppo di metodiche diagnostiche. Nel drug delivery, vengono studiati sistemi micro- e nano-assemblati basati su polimeri di natura organica ed inorganica per la veicolazione di farmaci biotecnologici e di sintesi. tra i polimeri studiati sono inclusi i derivati del poliossietilene (PEG), i silicati di origine sol-gel. Nella diagnostica, vengono studiate strategie per migliorare la performance diagnostica attraverso l’ingegnerizzazione delle superfici e la messa a punto di sistemi nano particellari per l’amplificazione dei segnali in vitro ed in vivo. E’ inoltre responsabile scientifico di progetti di ricerca a valenza locale (responsabile di un progetto di Ateneo 2007, responsabile di unità nel contesto del progetto strategico di Ateneo di Padova 2008 e nazionale (progetti PRIN e Ricerca Sanitaria Nazionale). E’ autrice di piu’ di 50 articoli su riviste scientifiche internazionali, numerosi brevetti nazionali ed internazionali. Dal 2007 e’ socio fondatore dello spin-off accademico ANANAS Nanotech, per il quale opera in qualità di responsabile scientifico, nel rispetto delle regole universitarie relative alle attività per conto degli spin-off accademici. Formazione Universitaria, dottorato di Ricerca, formazione all’estero 1991 Laurea in Chimica e Tecnologia Farmaceutiche il 15 Luglio 1991, con punti 110 su 110 e Lode, presso l'Università degli Studi di Padova. 1995 Dottore di Ricerca in Scienze Farmaceutiche presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Farmaceutiche dell’Università di Padova. Durante il dottorato di ricerca si è occupata della modifica di enzimi e proteine di utilità terapeutica con polimeri biocompatibili, per migliorarne le caratteristiche di farmacocinetica e biodisponibilità. Il titolo della tesi di dottorato, sotto la supervisione del prof. FM Veronese e’: “polimeri per la modifica di proteine ad attivita’ terapeutica: preparazione, caratterizzazione ed applicazioni”. 1995-1997, “Post-doctoral Fellow” presso il Weizmann Institute of Science, a Rehovot, Israele, sotto la supervisione del prof. Meir Wilchek, del Dipartimento di “Membrane and biophysics”. In questo periodo si e' occupata dello sviluppo di derivati dell' avidina come da impiegarsi in diagnostica ed immunosaggi. Il lavoro svolto in questo ambito ha dato luogo alla pubblicazione di due brevetti internazionali. Dal 1 Giugno 1997 al 31 Dicembre 1997 consulente scientifico responsabile del laboratorio di chimica presso la “Integrated Technology Corporation”, a Pantalla di Todi (Perugia), in Dal Settembre 1998 al 15 Gennaio 1999 borsista post-dottorato riservata all'area disciplinare delle "Scienze del Farmaco" presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Farmaceutiche dell'Università degli Studi di Padova. In questo periodo si è occupata della messa a punto di metodiche per la modifica sito 1 specifica di peptidi di utilità terapeutica con polimeri, con lo scopo di migliorarne la biodisponibilità con minima perturbazione dell'attività biologica. Durante il periodo di dottorato di ricerca ha svolto un periodo di 6 mesi in qualita’ di visiting scientist, presso la University of Alabama in Huntsville (USA), presso il laboratorio di ricerca del Prof. M.Harris, esperto nella chimica dei polimeri e del polietileneglicole (PEG). Dal 15 Luglio 1999 al 15 Ottobre 2000 ha svolto attività di ricerca in qualità di “Visiting Assistant Professor” presso il “Mount Sinai Medical Center” di New York, Gene Therapy Department. In questo periodo si è occupata dello sviluppo di vettori non virali per terapia genica.
