Today we celebrate the Baptism of
Jesus.
The Holy Spirit that was
present in Jesus’ baptism, that same
Spirit that moved in and through the
life and ministry of Jesus Christ is the
same Spirit that is present in us today. For what are you
being prepared at this time in your life? Go forward
beloved of the Father.
MAINTENANCE COLLECTION
Next weekend’s 2nd collection will be taken up for the monthly
maintenance of our church. Thanks for your constant support!
Campaign 2007-2008
So far, we’ve raised over $336,000 for our Capital Campaign
Fund. Please, let’s keep up the momentum, because we still
have much to raise in order to pay for all the exterior and
interior restoration (close to $600,000). Stay tuned for future
fundraising events planned for this year. Thanks so much to
everyone who’s contributed so far.

2008 Offering Envelopes
If you have not picked up your 2008 Offering Envelopes, you
may do so anytime during the week at the office.
The Scriptural Reflection Group resumes Tuesday, January
15 at 7:30 p.m. The Group’s Potluck Supper has been
postponed until further notice.
ADULT CONFIRMATION CLASSES
Adult Confirmation classes begin THIS MONDAY, JANUARY
14TH! If you are an adult over the age of 18 and have
already been baptized and had your 1st Communion and
you wish to be confirmed, it’s not too late. Please call the
office to register asap. Classes are scheduled every Monday
evening from 7:30 – 9 p.m., from January 14th to March
10th inclusive (no class on February 18th).
55+ Group
The 55+ group will be meeting for some Pizza and a game of
Bingo on Thursday, January 17th at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish
Hall. All the young at heart are invited!
1st Communion Dates
There is a meeting in the church for all parents and children on
this Wednesday, January 16th at 7 p.m.
The Enrollment Ceremony for 1st Communion takes place next
weekend, January 19/20th during the Masses
We will be holding our Pot Luck Supper next
Saturday, January 19th at 6:30 p.m. We invite
you to bring your favourite dish to share with
your fellow parishioners. Come and join us for
some fun and fellowship.
Ecumenical Prayer Service
To celebrate 100 years of Prayer for Christian Unity, the local
Christian churches will be joining our parish here at St. Clare’s
in a prayer service on Tuesday, January 22nd at 7:30 p.m.
Coffee will be served in the Hall right after. Please bring some
sweets to share, if you can. We hope that you make every
effort to join in this important gathering!
Confirmation Updates
There is a meeting in the church for all parents and
Confirmation Candidates on Wednesday, January 30th at 7
p.m. PLEASE NOTE: Classes starting Thursday, February
7th have been rescheduled for Monday, February 11th at
4 p.m.
The Presentation of the Lord
Our parish will celebrate Candlemas on Saturday, February 2nd
at 9 a.m. We will have the traditional blessing of candles and
procession into the Church. We will provide simple candles for
everyone, but feel free to bring if you’d like.
Parish Lenten Retreat
Please mark your calendars for our Parish Lenten Retreat
which will take place on Saturday, February 2nd. Stay tuned for
more information.
9th Annual Pancake
Breakfast
The 9th Annual St. Clare’s Parish Pancake
Breakfast is set for Sunday, February 3rd
from 8:30 a.m. to 12 Noon in the
Church Hall. For just $3, you’ll get a
nice meal of pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee.
Tickets go on sale after the Masses next weekend. Don’t
miss it!
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Parishioners are invited to attend the annual
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Celebration
hosted by Archbishop Thomas Collins. The
Archbishop has invited the major religious
leaders from throughout the metropolitan city
of Toronto to join with him in prayer for
Church unity. The service will be held on
Sunday, January 20th, 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Basilica, at 83 Power St.,
at Queen St. Refreshments will follow. This year’s celebration
marks 100 years of formal prayer for Christian Unity, first
celebrated as the Church Unity Octave by the Franciscan Friars
and Sisters of the Atonement at Graymoor, Garrison New York.

Per la devozione della Nostra Signora di Pompeii, continuamo con
il rosario in chiesa ogni sabato mattino alle 8:15 a.m, fino al 3
maggio quando si farà la supplica alla Madonna.

Fissate sul vostro calendario il prossimo ritiro che sarà in
preparazione alla quaresima per sabato, 2 febbraio.
Battesimo di Gesù
Battezzato nel Cristo Gesù, il cristiano non deve dimenticare di
essere stato battezzato nella sua morte per condurre una vita
nuova. Aperto come lui all’invisibile, dovrà essere disponibile a un
impegno a cui non può venire meno senza tradire il dono ricevuto.
COLLETTA MANUTENZIONE
La seconda colletta del prossimo weekend sarà per

CRESIMA PER GLI ADULTI
Queste classi avranno inizio QUESTO LUNEDÌ, 14 gennaio! Se
siete interessati a ricevere il Sacramento della Cresima, non è
troppo tardi per iscrivervi. Basta essere adulti da 18 anni in su,
battezzati, con a Prima Comunione ricevuta. Chiamate l’ufficio
oggi stesso. Le classi avranno luogo qui nella sala delle adunanze
ogni lunedì sera, dalle 7:30 alle 9 p.m., dal 14 gennaio al 10
marzo (non ci sarà classe il 18 febbraio).
Campagna 2007 - 2008
Fin oggi, abbiamo raccolto circa $336,000 per la nostra Campagna
Restauritiva. Continuamo pero, a questo passo, perché dobbiamo
raccogliere tanto di più per potere affrontare le spese di questi
lavori (i quali saranno quasi $600,000). Vi informeremo su futuri
evventi speciali che saranno progettati per quest’anno. Grazie
mille a tutti coloro che hanno già contribuito. Apprezziamo la
vostra dedicazione alla parrocchia.

Servizio di Preghiera per l’Unità dei Cristiani
Nel occasione del 100mo anniversario della Settimana di Preghiera
per l’Unità dei Cristiani, ci riuniamo nella nostra chiesa in
collaborazione con le varie chiese locale Cristiane. La celebrazione
avrà luogo martedì, 22 gennaio alle 7:30 p.m. Il caffé sarà servito
nella sala parrocchiale subito dopo. Siamo invitate a portare
qualche dolce per condividere. Venite numerosi e preghiamo
insieme.
La Presentazione del Signore
Sabato, 2 febbraio alle 9:00 a.m., celebriamo la Messa in
occasione della Presentazione di Gesù Bambino al Tempio (Messa
della Candelora).
Ci sarà la benedizione delle candele con
processione in Chiesa (ogni persona riceverà una candela). Chi
desidera può anche portare la sua candela.
9a COLAZIONE ANNUALE A SANTA CHIARA
Facciamo la 9a Colazione Annuale qui a S.
Chiara, domenica mattina, 3 febbraio, dalle
8:30 fino a Mezzogiorno nella Sala
parrocchiale. Per soltanto $3 farete una
bella colazione con pancakes, salciccie,
succo d’arancia e caffé. I biglietti saranno
in vendita domenica prossima. Non
