Nato a Torino nel 1985, inizia lo studio del pianoforte a 7 anni e si diploma con il massimo dei voti a 17 anni, al Conservatorio G. Verdi della sua città, proseguendo
poi gli studi sotto la guida di Andrea Lucchesini all’Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo. Dal 2006, grazie al sostegno dell'Associazione De Sono, della Fondazione CRT e
del premio Banques Populaires - Natexis, si stabilisce prima a Parigi, dove frequenta i corsi di Nicholas Angelich presso il Conservatoire National Supérieur de
Musique, perfezionandosi con Aldo Ciccolini Marie Françoise Bucquet, e quindi a Berlino. Riceve anche i consigli di pianisti quali Leon Fleisher, Richard Goode,
Mitsuko Uchida.
Nel 2004 vince il Premio Casella al Concorso “Premio Venezia” , e dopo il debutto al Teatro La Fenice, viene invitato da prestigiose istituzioni italiane, quali il Teatro
Regio di Torino, l’Accademia Filarmonica di Verona, MiTo - Settembre Musica e Unione Musicale.
La sua carriera l'ha poi portato ad esibirsi in sale e stagioni quali la Tonhalle di Zurigo, la Salle Pleyel, Theatre des Champs Elysées e Cité de la Musique di Parigi,
Herkulessaal di Monaco, Parco della Musica di Roma, Teatro la Pergola - Amici della Musica di Firenze, IUC di Roma, Lingotto di Torino, Auditorium du Louvre; o per il
Festival Radio France - Montpellier, Piano aux Jacobins di Toulouse, Caramoor Festival, French May di Hong Kong, Fundacion Scherzo di Madrid, Kissinger Sommer
Festival.
Nel gennaio 2010 è proclamato vincitore del Borletti Buitoni Trust Fellowship, riconoscimento prestigioso che lo inserisce tra i migliori giovani talenti della scena
musicale internazionale, ottenendo un immediato invito da parte di Mitsuko Uchida al festival di Marlboro nel 2010, 2011 e 2012. Ha poi partecipato ad una prima
tournée americana di Musicians from Marlboro nella primavera del 2012, in città quali New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Toronto ed è stato invitato
per una seconda nel Novembre 2013.
Gabriele Carcano ha suonato con orchestre quali Orchestre National de Montpellier, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, Staatskapelle Weimar, Orchestra Verdi,
Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, collaborando con direttori come Lawrence Foster, Alain Altinoglu, Stephan Solyom, Federico Maria
Sardelli.
Svolge anche intensa attività cameristica, collaborando con artisti quali Marie-Elisabeth Hecker, Quartetto Hermes, Andrea Lucchesini, Lorenza Borrani, Aldo Ciccolini,
Colin Carr, Mario Brunello.
Tra gli impegni più recenti figurano il debutto alla Sala Verdi di Milano per la Società del Quartetto e concerti a Berlino, Roma per la IUC, Amici della Musica di
Padova, Unione Musicale di Torino, Orchestra Verdi di Milano, Orchestre Nationale de Montepellier, Mantova Chamber Festival.
Nei prossimi mesi parteciperà tra gli altri al Kryzyzowa Festival e al Vorpommen Mecklenburg Festival, debutterà al Marinsky di S. Pietroburgo, Musashino Hall di
Tokyo, Jerusalem Center for Permorming Arts, tornerà a Parigi e Milano ed effettuerà un tour di concerti tra Danimarca, Germania e Olanda con il violinista Itamar
Zorman.
Gabriele Carcano, recipient of a 2010 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship Award, is a pianist equally at home in recital, as a soloist with orchestras, and as a chamber
musician. Praised by the Süddeutsche Zeitung as a "sculptor of sound" and “aesthete” after his Munich debut at the Herkulessaal, Gabriele is the winner of numerous
awards, including the Casella Prize at the Competition Premio Venezia, where he made his debut at Teatro La Fenice. He has been supported by the CRT Foundation,
De Sono Foundation and was also awarded a grant from the Fondation des Banques Populaires Françaises - Natexis in 2008.
Gabriele has appeared in recitals in Berlin, at the "La Pergola" Theatre in Florence, in Hong Kong, at the Scherzo Series in Madrid, the Herkulessaal in Munich, the
Lingotto and for Unione Musicale in Turin and the Tonhalle in Zurich. He has been featured at the the Kissinger Sommer in Bad Kissingen, the Festival Musique en Côte
Basque, the French May Festival in Hong Kong, the Radio France Festival in Montpellier, at the prestigious Piano aux Jacobins Festival in Toulouse, and at the MiTo
Festival in Turin. Gabriele performed as a soloist with the Orchestra Archi De Sono, Orchestra Giuseppe Verdi di Milano, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Orchestra
di Padova e del Veneto, Staatskapelle Weimar, Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen and toured with the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova. He collaborated
with conductors Alain Altinoglu, Lawrence Foster, Federico Maria Sardelli, Clemens Schuldt and Stefan Solyom. In chamber music concerts he has appeared in Berlin,
in Montpellier, in Munich, at the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, the Tonhalle in Zurich, and at the Caramoor and Marlboro
Festivals with instrumentalists Benjamin Beilman, Colin Carr, Andrea Lucchesini, Marie-Elisabeth Hecker, Lorenza Borrani and Peter Wiley.
At the invitation of Mitsuko Uchida, he participated in the prestigious Marlboro Festival during the summers of 2010 through 2012. In 2012 and 2013 he was featured
on Musicians from Marlboro tours, performing at venues and series such as the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, the Gardner Museum Concerts in Boston and at the
People's Symphony Concerts in New York.
In summer 2014 Gabriele Carcano gave a sensational performance in an open air concert with the Ensemble of Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino at the main square of
his native city, attracting twelve thousand listeners. In the past season he made his debut with Società del Quartetto in Milan, played with Orchestre National de
Montpellier and Orchestra Verdi Milan and gave recital in Berlin, Rome, Padova, Turin Unione Musicale.
Highlights of next season include Kryzyzowa Festival in Poland, Mecklenburg Vorpomenn Festival in Germany, he will made his debuts at the Marinsky in S.
Petersburg, Musashino Hall in Tokyo and in Israel, as well as concerts in Paris and Milan and a european tour with the violinist Itamar Zorman.
Born in Turin in 1985, Gabriele began studying the piano at the age of seven and graduated from the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Turin at age seventeen with the
highest grades and honors. He continued his studies with Andrea Lucchesini at the Accademia di Musica in Pinerolo and with Aldo Ciccolini in Paris, followed by
Nicholas Angelich at the Conservatoire National Superior de Musique as well as with Marie Françoise Bucquet. He has also worked with Leon Fleisher, Richard Goode
and Mitsuko Uchida.
