The uniqueness and originality of the cooperation between the pictorial works of Williamson and musical compositions of Greg Walter, all part of the exhibition, is to put on canvas the sounds of the melody , while the music translates the colors, lines, and tonalities in the art." Napoli Village: Art1307 presenta: ToddWilliamson “Polifonia di un Paesaggio” Nov 25 2015 (televised video) QD Napoli: Todd Williamson @ the Museo Pio Monte della Misericordia "Williamson's works are permeated by a powerful dynamism, which is expressed through the choice of colors. With clever use of the technique oil on canvas, Williamson lights the scenes, which lead beyond the vanishing points of the canvas. This, according to many, is perfectly suited to dialogue with the paintings of the '600 (the number of artworks in the Pio Monte's permanent collection) and, therefore, with the artistic choices of Caravaggio. For this reason, Williamson's "Mercy" will be placed before the work of the immortal pioneer of Lombardy, in order to encourage the visitor to a dialog between the two paintings, Caravaggio's and Williamson's." "Todd Williamson at the Museo Pio Monte della Miseracordia" MimAb Art & Culture Naples Italy Nov 2015 "Caravaggio and #ToddWilliamson , past and present, face to face in the museo Pio Monte della Misericordia in Naples. Williamson's work was inspired by the "Seven Acts of Mercy" by Caravaggio and will part of the permanent collection of the Pio Monte dedicated to new artistic trends. As the editors like to point out, Todd Williamson works with "classic" materials - oil on canvas - creating abstract works full of #light and #movement that could well dialogue with the works of the '600 Neapolitan artists in the Pio Monte's collection, and in particular with the work of all Caravaggio which Williamson is a great scholar and lover." "Mercy" by California painter Todd Williamson @ Pio Monte della Misericordia Diario Partenopeo Nov 2015 Museo Pio Monte della Misericordia in collaboration with ART1307 presents, "Mercy" by California painter #Todd Williamson . The painting was inspired by Caravaggio's "Seven Works of Mercy" and will become part of the permanent contemporary art collection of the Pio Monte. Williamson creates abstract works full of light and movement that interact seamlessly with the works of the '600 Neapolitan artists and in particular with the Caravaggio, of which Williamson is a great scholar and lover. "Mercy" will be displayed at the Pio Monte, opposite to the work of the master Caravaggio." Art1307 presenta: Todd Williamson “Polifonia di un Paesaggio” Napoli November 25, 2015 Napoli Village "A completely new concept in the history of painting and in which we can say that the musician has "painted" the canvas and the painter has "played" the melody, creating a unique, musical and pictorial, four hands." Art-to-Art Palette Journal "Art Disciplines Join As One" By Tony Clark Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Nov 2015 ''Like a magician, Todd Williamson has harnessed light and sound onto his new body of works. As Kandinsky interrupted Jazz and Caravaggio mastered light in their paintings, artist Williamson has brought both worlds together.'' The Pickwick: "Polyphony of a Landscape" How Close can Painting and Music Touch? by Roberta Andolfo Nov 2015 "The group of experiments of the interaction between visual art and music, can be considered commendable, have reflected on the subject by examining different points of view, exploring from time to time the reactions of two different "sense" stimuli so different and yet in some ways similar. In this "way" they are woven together and repeated from one medium to another. Miro was imprinted by his friends music and some of his sketches became the elusive touch segmented sounds that followed, while Kandinsky was able to modulate the rhythm to capture the plans and the elements present in space, caught only by the perception of the human eye, as well as any orchestra conductor directing the development of the sound contributions of each musician. In our day, the example of two American academics, the American painter Todd Williamson and composer and longtime friend, Greg Walter, is that of a partnership designed on the cutting of ' interference ." Racna Magazine "Todd Williamson, Polyphony of a Landscape" in Villa di Donato, Painting and Listening". Nov 2015 The concept of music is both complex and simple: if one side is completely indescribable, the other can be made with a thought, a word, and sometimes with a trace of color on a canvas. If the Lebanese poet Khalil Gibran wrote that music teaches us to see and hear with the ear with the heart, the American artist Todd Williamson decided to express what he sees and what he feels through his medium, painting. Williamson and Walter have therefore initiated a common path, in search of the visible spectrum of the sound waves of music and painting . From their collaboration and their work triggered a series of large paintings and a symphony, which took the name of Polyphony of a Landscape http://www.rivistasegno.eu/todd-williamson-mercy-a-pio-monte-di-napoli/ Nov 2015 http://www.diariopartenopeo.it/mercy-del-pittore-californiano-todd-williamson-al-pio-montedella-misericordia/ Nov 2015 Nashville Arts Magazine “Painting for a Song” “It’s impossible not to feel a visceral shock when turning from Todd Williamson’s highly abstract depictions of ethereal emotions and sounds arising out of rigid, mathematical, underlying order” by Logan Halsey March 2015 Huffington Post “Pax de Deux” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nicholas-marlin/pas-dedeux_1_b_6129182.html ‘’The exhibition of Laddie John Dill and Todd Williamson, at Kevin Barry Fine Art in Santa Monica, can be defined as a "pas de deux" of the two Californian artists; a musical path or a dance on the gallery walls that the two embark on alternating and juxtaposing with great skill. The styles and artistic personalities of the two masters, very different from each other, come together in a "visual sound" that is not a contradiction in terms, but rather a visual objectification of two artistic paths that play and focus on issues dear to both, such as light, motion and "pictorial field" ordered by apparent geometric lines.” By Cynthia Penna cur Art 1307 Nov 10,2014 West Hollywood Magazine “The Perfect Line” pg. 94-95 Premiere Issue Fall 2014 http://issuu.com/wh-mag/docs/wh-mag-issuu2 Art to Art Palette "The Light from Within" “Captured by Todd are the reflections of the light; those that draw a viewer’s attention to the luminosity rather than any specific object or form. I find Williamson’s artworks in the league of the Russian Avant Garde which brought us Rayonism; thusly, they gave the world a new way to see everyday life”.
