Since 2000, CISE is accredited by SAAS both as
Certification committee and training Body for Auditors
within the SA8000 certification field. CISE is also the
owner of the collective Mark Lavoro Etico.

SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY INTERNATIONAL (SAI)
Social Accountability International (SAI) is a global
standard-setting non-profit human rights organization
dedicated to improving workplaces and communities.
SAI provides capacity-building services for
the implementation of its SA8000 standard.
SAI was founded in 1997 by Alice Tepper Marlin
and the Council of Economic Priorities (CEP).
In 1998, SAI convened a multi-stakeholder Advisory
Board to develop SA8000, a global standard for
human rights at work. In 1998, first organizations
were accredited to audit for SA8000 compliance;
today SAI contracts with Social Accountability
Accreditation Services (SAAS)for licensing and
oversight of auditing organisations to certify
compliance with SA8000.

ente no-profit ad impronta globale focalizzata sui
diritti umani e dedicata al miglioramento dei luoghi
di lavoro e delle comunità.
SAI fornisce servizi per lo sviluppo di processi

Social Accountability Accreditation Services (SAAS)
is an accreditation agency founded to accredit and
monitor organizations as certifiers of compliance with
social standards, including the Social Accountability
8000 standard for ethical working conditions.
SAAS began to work as a department within Social
Accountability International (SAI) in 1997 and
was formally established as its own not-for-profit
organization in 2007.
Il SAAS (Social Accountability Accreditation
Services) è un’agenzia di accreditamento fondata
con lo scopo di accreditare e monitorare gli
organismi di certificazione della conformità
con gli standard sociali, incluso lo standard di

SA8000
SA8000 is a global social accountability standard
for decent working conditions, developed and
overseen by Social Accountability International (SAI).
Detailed guidance for implementing or auditing
to SA8000 is available on its website. SAI offers
training in SA8000 and other workplace standards
to managers, workers and auditors.
SA8000 is based on the UN Universal Declaration
of Human Rights, the Convention on the Rights
of the Child and various International Labour
Organization (ILO) conventions. SA8000 covers
the following areas of accountability:
– Child labour,
– Forced labour,
– Work place safety and health,
– Freedom of association and right to collective
bargaining,
– Discrimination,
– Discipline,
– Working hours,
– Remuneration,
– Management system for human resources.
Standards are applicable to employees working at
Company locations, as well as homeworkers who
carry out work for an Organization.
SA8000 is modelled according to the ISO 9000 and
ISO 14000 standards. In addition, it has performancebased requirements to set in accord with each of the
above mentioned 9 topics.

condizioni lavorative, sviluppato e gestito dal SAI.
Una guida dettagliata per la realizzazione o
l’auditing rispetto a SA8000 è disponibile nel
sito web del SAI. Il SAI offre corsi, a manager,
lavoratori ed auditor, riguardanti lo Standard
SA8000 e altri standard relativi alle condizioni
di lavoro.
SA8000 è basata sulla Dichiarazione Universale
dei Diritti dell’Uomo delle Nazioni Unite, sulla
Convenzione Internazionale sui Diritti dell’Infanzia
e su diverse convenzioni dell’Organizzazione
Internazionale del Lavoro (ILO). SA8000 copre
le seguenti aree di responsabilità sociale:

Gli standard sono applicabili sia ai lavoratori

SA8000 è strutturata in maniera simile
agli standard ISO 9000 e ISO 14000. Inoltre
prevede, accanto ai requisiti formali, requisiti di
performance, da stabilire in relazione a ciascuno
dei 9 elementi dello standard, sopra elencati.

to prove to their commitment to social accountability
standards, to their own employees and to meet
customers satisfaction.

SA 8000 is an international certification standard that
encourages organizations to develop, maintain and
apply socially acceptable practices in the work place.
It can be applied to any Organization, of any size,
anywhere in the world. The areas it addresses
include forced and child labour, health and safety,
freedom of association and collective bargaining,
discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours
and management systems.

SA 8000 compliance proves an Organization’s
commitment to social accountability and to treating
the employees ethically. At the same time, this
certification can improve the management and
performance of the supply chain. SA 8000 allows
the Organization to ensure compliance with global
standards and reduce the risk of malpractice, public
exposure and possible litigation. Demonstrating
commitment to social accountability can support
the corporate vision and build and reinforce the loyalty
of the employees, customers and stakeholders, which
in turn impacts the bottom line.

Organization to social accountability improvement
and development.
Your SA 8000 certificate enables you to demonstrate
proper social accountability when bidding for
international contracts or expanding locally to
accommodate new businesses.

APPLICANT
The Applicant status consists in the acknowledgment
of the commitment shown by the Organizations
willing to join the SA8000 Standard as their own
policy, as well as undertake the first, fundamental
steps towards the certification.
Lo stato di Applicant consiste nel riconoscimento
dell’impegno delle Organizzazioni che intendono
adottare lo standard SA8000 come loro politica
e intraprendere i primi essenziali passi verso la
certificazione.
An SA8000 Applicant Organization declares:
– its understanding of the SA8000 requirements,
– its own conformity with the national and local law
relating to the SA8000 requirements,
– its readiness to start the implementation and
certification processes.
Un’Organizzazione Applicant SA8000 dichiara:
– di avere compreso i requisiti SA8000,
– la propria conformità con la legislazione
nazionale e locale relativa ai requisiti SA8000,
– di essere pronta ad iniziare il processo
di implementazione e certificazione.
To obtain the Applicant status, the Organization
compiles the Self-Evaluation Guide pointing out
its own conformity, its own pertinence or its own
not conformity related to each requirement of the
Standard. If the self-evaluation results non conformity
to some requirements, the Organization shall point
out the planned improvement actions and the time
needed for the implementations to solve the non
conformities. The Organization commits itself to
undergo a certification audit within a year from the
date of the issue of the Applicant Certificate.
Per ottenere lo Stato di Applicant l’Organizzazione
compila la Guida all’Autovalutazione indicando,
per ciascun requisito dello standard, la propria
conformità, non applicabilità o non conformità:
nel caso in cui si autovaluti non conforme a
qualche requisito, essa deve indicare le azioni di
miglioramento che intende implementare ed
i tempi di attuazione delle stesse, al fine di
superare le non conformità. L’Organizzazione
si impegna inoltre a sostenere un audit di
certificazione entro un anno dalla data di
emissione del Certificato di Applicant.
An SA8000 Applicant Organization that does not
undergo through the certification audit within the year
from the date of the certificate issue can apply twice
for a renewal. Thus, an Organization with an applicant
status can maintain this status for three consecutive
years; on the certificate is specified if it is a second or
third renewal.
Un’Organizzazione Applicant SA8000, che non si
sottopone all’audit di certificazione entro un anno,
può richiederne il rinnovo per due volte: pertanto
un Applicant può restare tale per non più di tre
anni consecutivi. Il certificato specificherà se si
tratta di un secondo o un terzo rinnovo.
Undertaken the Applicant Status is not compulsory
to obtain the SA8000 Certification.

The Social Accountability Watch (S.A.W.) is a tool to
get acquainted with and to give evidence to the social
responsible behaviours of the Organizations, involving
in an active way the stakeholders.
The Social Accountability Watch (S.A.W.) allows to:
– Improve the transparency and the reputation of the
Bodies towards its own stakeholders;
– Simplify and make the suppliers and sub-suppliers
qualification procedures more efficient;
– Decrease the SA8000 certification costs;
– Facilitate the access of the SME (small and medium
enterprises) to social accountability guarantee
systems without incurring into the certification
expenses;
– Support the dynamics of the social expenses report.

è uno strumento per conoscere e dare evidenza
dei comportamenti socialmente responsabili delle

L’Osservatorio sulla Responsabilità Sociale (S.A.W.)
consente di:
– migliorare la trasparenza e la reputazione delle
Organizzazioni rispetto ai propri Stakeholders;
– semplificare e rendere più efficaci i procedimenti
di qualifica dei fornitori e subfornitori;
– ridurre i costi della certificazione SA8000;

Only SA8000 Certified Organizations
by CISE may use the ‘Lavoro Etico’ Mark.
The guidelines outlined in this document
provide basic information for using the
‘Lavoro Etico’ Certification Mark in all
printed and on-screen materials.
To maintain the integrity and the
public recognition of the ‘Lavoro Etico’
Certification Mark, a Certified Organization
has to use the Certification Mark always
as provided by CISE and do not try to
change the configuration or proportion
of any artwork.

The Organization ongoing the Applicant status must
use the specific Mark (as shown above).

Any part of the CM may be cut out or integrated with
other designs and the CM must never be redrawn or
altered in any way.
Besides the spatial relationship, the font type and the
relative size, as well as the spacing of the font must
not be altered. The CM must always be depicted in
an upright position and never tilted to any degree.
When reproduction methods do not allow the
reproduction of the present Mark, a different
version is provided (see SIZES).

The ‘Lavoro Etico’ Certification Mark shows final
customers that the Organisation, that has been
certified by CISE, consistently meets SA8000
standard.

As such, the Certification Mark may be used on the
following materials:

instructions contained in the envelope
within the welcome pack, delivered to the
attainment of certification, and available in
following file formats: EPS, TIF and JPG.

The EPS are vectorised files and can be infinitely
enlarged without any loss of quality. They retain
a transparent background which allows positioning
of the logo on coloured backgrounds. The EPS files
are supplied in Pantone colours, CMYK and black.
The EPS files allow you to change the colours of the
Mark (see YOUR OWN COLOURS).

for pre-press applications. If larger files are required,
they should be generated by a professional who can
re-save a larger file from the original Illustrator EPS
files. The TIF files are supplied CMYK.
The JPG files provided are 72dpi low resolution
files intended only for use on the web, for desktop
publishing, PowerPoint presentations, etc. If larger

(72 dpi) e possono essere utilizzati unicamente per

Power Point. Non possono essere utilizzati per
la stampa professionale, non possono essere

These are CISE ‘Terms and Conditions’
that will apply to Organizations that use
of ‘Lavoro Etico’ Certification Mark.
The issuance of a Certificate grants to
Organizations a limited, non exclusive and
non transferable license to use the ‘Lavoro
Etico’ Certification Mark.
The license takes effect and expires on
the dates set forth on the face of the
Certificate.
CISE reserves the right to replace the
current ‘Lavoro Etico’ Certification Mark
or to modify these terms at any time.
CISE gives to Certified Organizations
written notification of all changes thereto
and each Organization has to implement
the changes at its costs in the reasonable
time frame that CISE may reasonably
request.
By using the ‘Lavoro Etico’ Certification
Mark, each Certified Organization agree
to the terms as described in the following
pages.
DEFINITIONS
DEFINIZIONI
The following definitions form an integral part of the
herewith Guidelines.
Le definizioni di seguito riportate costituiscono
a tutti gli effetti parte integrante delle presenti
Linee Guida.
CERTIFICATION MARK: the term Certification
Mark stands for the collective mark ‘Lavoro Etico’
concerning the SA8000 Certified Organizations.
APPLICANT MARK: the term Applicant Mark stands
for the collective mark ‘Lavoro Etico’ concerning
Organizations in an ongoing SA8000 Applicant status.
LAVORO ETICO NETWORK: the term Lavoro Etico
Network stands for the A8000 Inspection Bodies
network established by CISE.
Il Marchio di Certificazione Lavoro
Etico è regolamentato dalle presenti
Condizioni di utilizzo. L’emissione del
Certificato garantisce un uso limitato
e non esclusivo e un’autorizzazione
non trasferibile all’uso del Marchio
di Certificazione Lavoro Etico.
L’autorizzazione entra in vigore e ha
scadenza nelle date stampate sul
Certificato.
CISE si riserva il diritto di sostituire
il Marchio di Certificazione Lavoro
Etico o di modificarne termini e
condizioni in qualsiasi momento.
CISE si impegna a dare comunicazione
scritta dei cambiamenti applicati, che
le Organizzazioni Certificate devono
rendere effettivi a proprie spese ed
entro determinate scadenze, che CISE
potrebbe richiedere.
Utilizzando il Marchio di Certificazione
Lavoro Etico, le Organizzazioni
Certificate si impegnano a rispettare
i termini descritti nelle seguenti pagine.

CISE: the term CISE stands for Innovation Centre
and Economic Development – Special Branch of
the Chamber of Commerce for Trade and Industry
– owner of the Mark as described above.
REGULATION: the term Regulation stands for the
herewith document that defines both the conditions
and the modalities for the use of the Mark by the
authorized Organizations as described below.
AUTHORIZED ORGANIZATIONS: the term
Authorized Organization stands for the SA8000
Certified Organizations or Organizations ongoing
SA8000 applicant status to whom CISE has licenced
the use of the Mark and have formally agreed to use it
in respect of the herewith Guidelines.
CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE: The Certification
Committee is the Body that deliberates about
issues, suspensions and revocations of the SA8000
Certification. The Certification Committee guarantees
neutrality and balance of the decisions because of its
composition of representatives of the all stakeholders:
businesses, workers, institutions, consumers, NGOs
and others.
MARCHIO DI CERTIFICAZIONE: con il termine
Marchio di Certificazione si intende il marchio
collettivo “Lavoro Etico” relativo ad Organizzazioni
Certificate SA8000.
MARCHIO APPLICANT: con il termine Marchio
Applicant si intende il marchio collettivo “Lavoro
Etico” relativo ad Organizzazioni in stato di
Applicant SA8000.
NETWORK LAVORO ETICO: con il termine Network
Lavoro Etico si intende il network di organismi
d’ispezione SA8000 fondato da CISE.
CISE: con il termine CISE si intende il Centro per
l’Innovazione e lo Sviluppo Economico – Azienda
Speciale della Camera di Commercio Industria e
Artigianato di Forlì Cesena – titolare del Marchio
come sopra definito.
REGOLAMENTO: con il termine Regolamento si
intende il presente documento che definisce le
condizioni e le modalità per l’uso del MARCHIO
da parte delle Organizzazioni Licenziatarie come
sotto definite.
ORGANIZZAZIONI LICENZIATARIE: con il termine
Organizzazioni Licenziatarie si intendono le
Organizzazioni Certificate SA8000 o in stato di
Applicant SA8000 alle quali CISE ha concesso in
licenza l’uso del MARCHIO e che si sono impegnate
ad utilizzarlo nel rispetto delle presenti Linee
Guida.
COMITATO DI CERTIFICAZIONE: Il Comitato
di Certificazione è l’organo che delibera in merito
a rilasci, sospensioni e revoche delle certificazioni
SA8000. Il Comitato garantisce neutralità ed
equilibrio delle decisioni essendo composto
da rappresentanti di tutte le parti interessate:
imprese, lavoratori, istituzioni, consumatori,
ONG ed altre parti interessate.

The Organization obtaining the Applicant Status or the
SA8000 Certification issued by Lavoro Etico Network
can reproduce the Mark related to the SA8000
Applicant or any SA8000 Certified Organization on its
own advertising or stationery material following the
indications described in the Guidelines.
L’Organizzazione che ha conseguito il
riconoscimento dello stato di Applicant
o la certificazione SA8000, rilasciata dal Network
Lavoro Etico, può riprodurre il Marchio relativo
all’Applicant SA8000 o di Organizzazione
Certificata SA8000 sul proprio materiale
pubblicitario o di cancelleria attenendosi alle
indicazioni contenute nelle presenti Linee Guida.
The Organization must commit itself to:
– use the Mark together with the mark or the name
of the Certified Organization;
– use the whole Mark;
– use the Mark only if the certification purpose
is concerned;
– do not commit actions or omissions that can
in some way penalize or damage the image
and the name of the Mark or CISE itself.
In case of a wrong or deceptive use of the Mark
or of other guideline concerning the certification,
the Organization holding the Certification must
immediately activate proper corrective actions in order
to reinstate a correct information. The Organization
must give notice of the corrective actions to CISE
communicating also the accomplishment period.
CISE reserves the right to ask for compensation in
case of damages deriving from a wrong or deceptive
use of the Mark.
L’Organizzazione deve impegnarsi a:
– utilizzare il Marchio congiuntamente al marchio
o alla ragione sociale dell’Organizzazione
Certificata;
– utilizzare il Marchio sempre nella sua interezza;
– utilizzare il Marchio solo in relazione allo scopo
della certificazione;
– non compiere atti od omissioni che possano in
qualsiasi modo danneggiare o ledere l’immagine
e la reputazione del Marchio o di CISE.

DEL MARCHIO SUL PRODOTTO
The Organizations that intend to use the Mark on
products or packaging must have the following
requirements:
a) c ertification in conformity with the SA8000 system
issued by Lavoro Etico Network;
b) r egistration to the Social Accountability Watch
S.A.W. (www.sawnet.info);
c)institute an internal traceability system able to show
that the products effectively come from certified
facilities.
Le Organizzazioni che intendono utilizzare il
Marchio sul prodotto o sulla confezione devono
possedere i seguenti requisiti:
a) certificato di conformità al sistema SA8000
rilasciato dal Network lavoro Etico;
b) iscrizione all’Osservatorio S.A.W.
(www.sawnet.info);
c) istituzione di un sistema di tracciabilità interna
ed esterna in grado di dimostrare l’effettiva
provenienza dei prodotti da siti certificati.
In caso di uso errato od ingannevole del Marchio,
o di altra indicazione riguardante la certificazione,
l’Organizzazione titolare del certificato è tenuta
ad attivare immediatamente azioni correttive al
fine di ripristinare una corretta informazione.
Di tali azioni correttive deve dare comunicazione
a CISE indicando i tempi di attuazione.
CISE si riserva il diritto di procedere alla richiesta
di risarcimento di eventuali danni che dovessero
derivargli da un uso errato o ingannevole del
Marchio.

The Organization obtaining the Applicant status or the
SA8000 Certification issued by Lavoro Etico Network
can reproduce the SAAS mark on its own advertising
or stationery material following the indications
described in the Guidelines.
The Organization must commit itself to:
– use the SAAS mark in association with the
SA8000 Applicant status or with a SA8000
Certified Organization;
– respect the conditions of use of the SAAS
mark described inside the ‘Procedures: SA8000:
Form 426’ (downloadable from website
www.saasaccreditation.com).
L’Organizzazione che ha conseguito il
riconoscimento dello stato di Applicant o la
certificazione SA8000 rilasciata dal Network
Lavoro Etico può riprodurre il marchio SAAS
nel proprio materiale pubblicitario o di cancelleria
attenendosi alle indicazioni contenute nelle
presenti Linee Guida. L’Organizzazione deve
impegnarsi a:
– utilizzare il marchio SAAS associato al marchio
di Applicant SA8000 o di Organizzazione
Certificata SA8000;
– rispettare le condizioni di uso del marchio SAAS
previste da “Procedures: SA8000: Form 426”
(scaricabili dal sito www.saasaccreditation.com).
If relevant irregularities are detected, CISE can
immediately interrupt the use of the Mark of a
SA8000 Applicant or a SA8000 Certified Organization.
The Organization is forbidden to use the Mark
SA8000 Applicant or SA8000 Certified Organization
after a potential communication of suspension
deliberated by the Certification Committee, after the
certification has already been revoked because of its
own expiration or for a decision of the Committee as
well as the voluntary waiver of the certification by the
Organization itself.
Nel caso di irregolarità rilevanti, CISE può
impedire, con decorrenza immediata, l’uso del
Marchio di Applicant SA8000 o di Organizzazione
Certificata SA8000. L’Organizzazione non può
più far uso del Marchio di Applicant SA8000
o di Organizzazione Certificata SA8000 dopo
un’eventuale comunicazione di sospensione
deliberata dal Comitato di Certificazione, dopo
l’avvenuta revoca dello stesso per termine
di validità o per decisione del Comitato di
Certificazione, o qualora l’Organizzazione rinunci
alla certificazione volontariamente.

The Organization must always return the certificate
when this expires or if the certificate has been
modified, revoked or waived.
L’Organizzazione è sempre tenuta a restituire
il certificato alla sua scadenza o in caso di modifica
del certificato, di revoca o rinuncia.

Within the binding limits of the law, CISE is
dispensed with responsibility towards the authorized
Organizations in case of ineffectiveness of the Mark;
for example if the Mark violates third parts’ rights.
CISE, nei limiti inderogabili di legge, è esonerato
da qualsiasi responsabilità nei confronti delle
Organizzazioni licenziatarie in caso di inefficacia
del Marchio, totale o parziale, così come nel caso
in cui il Marchio violi diritti di terzi.
CISE and the Organization commit themselves to
define any kind of controversy coming from the user
licence of the Mark or linked to it through informal
or independent arbitration (or through the Arbitration
Commission) regulated by an arbitrator named by
following the Regulation (that can be downloaded
at www.fc.camcom.it) and that both parts declare
to know and accept, in conformity to the regulation
of the Chamber of Commerce of Forlì-Cesena.
CISE e l’Organizzazione si impegnano a definire
qualsiasi controversia derivante dalla licenza d’uso
del Marchio o ad essa connessa mediante arbitrato
libero o irrituale, in conformità del regolamento
della Camera Arbitrale della Camera di Commercio
di Forlì-Cesena, da un arbitro (o un Collegio
Arbitrale) nominato secondo detto Regolamento
(scaricabile dal sito www.fc.camcom.it) che le parti
dichiarano di conoscere ed accettare.
The arbitrator (or the Arbitration Commission)
will decide on the basis of right/equity and his/her
decision is recognized by both parts as their own
contractual will. L’arbitro (o il collegio Arbitrale) deciderà secondo
diritto/equità e la sua decisione viene sin d’ora
riconosciuta dalle parti come manifestazione della
loro stessa volontà contrattuale.
The authorized Organizations commit themselves
to release from responsibility and uninjured from
any request of compensation or third parts’ claim
concerning the services of the Mark offered by the
same authorized Organizations.

Le Organizzazioni licenziatarie si impegnano a
manlevare e a tenere indenne CISE da qualsiasi
richiesta di risarcimento o altra pretesa di terzi
relativa ai servizi contraddistinti dal Marchio
prestati dalle medesime Organizzazioni
licenziatarie.
