CURRICULUM VITAE PERSONAL DATA Last name: Magliulo First name: Maria Date of Birth: 16/02/1976 Address: Department of Chemistry, University of Bari Citizen: Italian Phone: +390805442919 Mobile: +39333-3864886 E-mail: [email protected] RESUME Maria Magliulo graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technologies at the University of Bologna in 2002. She received her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2007 from the University of Bologna defending a thesis on “innovative immunoassay formats for the detection of pathogenic bacteria and food contaminants”. During the PhD, her research activity was focused on the development of (chemi- and bio-)luminescent high-throughput multiplexed immunosensors for the detection of pathogenic bacteria, food contaminants and analytes of clinical relevance. She also worked on the development of innovative, flowassisted immunoassays based on field-flow fractionation, on whole-cell luminescent recombinant whole-cell biosensors and on analytical methods based on MALDI-TOF coupled with chemiometric analysis of data for the detection of pathogen bacteria. In 2009 she joined the research group of Prof. Luisa Torsi at Department of Chemistry, University of Bari. Here, she started working on the development of electronic biosensors based on Organic FieldEffect Transistors (OFET) involving different recognition processes. Specifically, her work deals with the development of new strategies based on super-molecular assembly useful for the integration of biological recognition elements in OFET devices and on the development of ultrasensitive label-free electronic biosensors capable to operate in buffers that mimic physiological fluids. Recently, she was co-inventor of a completely new OFET biosensor configuration comprising a Functional Biological Interlayer (FBI-OFET), acting as biosensor recognition layer, which is fully integrated into the device structure, residing underneath the organic semiconductor film, right at the interface were the OFET two-dimensional transport occurs. This innovative idea, besides to be subject of two patents, led to publications in prestigious international journals such as PNAS and Analytical Chemistry and has attracted the interest of an important international chemical company. Dr. Magliulo has numerous collaborations, at national and international level, with research groups operating in the field of biosensors development, clinical chemistry and organic bioelectronics. She is involved in several national and European projects aiming at the development of innovative, low cost, disposable label-free biosensors for clinical applications. She is author of 30 scientific publications in high impact factor journals and she attended more than 90 international and national conferences. She is referee of several international journals in the field of Analytical Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry and Materials Science.
