Research activity
Maria Grazia Albanesi works in Computer Science, in the field of multimedia theory and
applications. The cultural background of Image Processing (Pattern Recognition and Signal
Processing) is the base for developing efficient algorithms, techniques and solutions for image and
video-based systems.
The main research areas are:

Image and video quality assessment using models of Human Vision Perception and
multiresolution

Image
and
video
compression:
efficient
use
of
standards
by
preprocessing
and
postprocessing optimization of the coding chain

Multimedia content analysis for metadata extraction for efficient search and retrieval.

Analysis of multimedia data for ecology applications and environment preservation.
