DESCRIZIONE PROGETTO
L'idea di partenza è stata quella di realizzare una vettura sportiva dal peso e dalle
dimensioni contenute, che potesse attualizzare il concetto delle piccole Alfa Romeo
degli anni sessanta e settanta.
L'ispirazione è venuta da auto come la Giulietta SZ e le Alfa GTA, macchine di bassa
cilindrata, leggere e facilmente adattabili alle piste.
Per quest'Alfa è stata però scelta la formula dello `shooting-brake", ovvero una
biposto con un vano bagagli da station-wagon. Il risultato è una dire volumi a tre
porte dal cofano lungo e con l'abitacolo vicino al retrotreno: questa impostazione
telaistica, tipica delle spider, permette (arretramento del motore ottimizzando la distribuzione delle masse. Dunque, un'auto per tutti i glomi, dai bassi costi di gestione
ed esercizio e adatta al trasporto come alla pista, magari con piccole modifiche di
assetto e aerodinamiche: i paraurti e le minigonne laterali, ad esempio, possono
essere facilmente sostituibili con altri più performanti. Questi elementi, pur non
essendo verniciati, sono in armonia con lo stile della vettura ed inoltre permettono di
ridurre al minimo la visibilità di eventuali danneggiamenti nonché i costi di riparazione
e sostituzione.
H design è in continuità con quello delle Alfa Romeo più recenti, con l'aggiunta di
pochi elementi del passato come l'ampia presa d'aria anteriore che integra i fanali.
Osservando il frontale si nota l'assenza dello scudetto che è però rievocato e stilizzato dalla cornice della mascherina. La fiancala evidenzia la contenuta altezza del
corpo vettura e la sua muscolosità data dal connubio tra la larga spalla e la ridotta
superficie vetrata_ il posteriore è caratterizzato dal lunotto che richiama la forma
dello scudetto e dalle “gobbe” aerodinamiche del tetto/spoiler.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The idea was to create a compact, lightweight sportscar that expresses the spirit of
the small Alfa Romeos of the Seventies and Eighties, recasting it in a more modern
key.
My inspiration came from cars like the Giulietta SZ and the Alfa GTAs, nimble little
roadsters with small-displacement engines that were easily adapted for the racetrack.
This Alfa, however, is a shooting brake, or in other words a two-seater with a roomy,
station wagon type luggage compartment. The car is a two-box design with three
doors and a long hood that pushes the occupant compartment back towards the
rear. This chassis layout, typical of convertibles, also makes for better weight distribution since the engine sits well behind the front wheels.
It's a car with low running costs that make it perfect for everyday transportation. But
it's equally at home on the racetrack, maybe after a few miner tweaks in suspension
geometry and aerodynamics: the bumpers and side skirts, for instance, can be easily replaced with more performance-minded units. And even though they're not
painted, they are in harmony with the car's overall styling. Not being painted also
makes them cheaper to repair or replace, and makes any damage less noticeable.
The design carries on from where the most recent Alfas left off, and also revives a
few features from the past, like the broad contours of the front air intake that wrap
around the headlamps.
One of the first things about the front end that strikes the eye is that it is not adorned
with the classic Alfa shield. But the spirit of the shield is there, evoked and stylized
in the radiator bezel. In side view, the body has a low-slung, muscular look, with
broad shoulders and shallow glasshouse. At the rear, the backlight calls the Alfa
shield to mind once again, this time set off by the sinuously bulging roof spoiler
The car could be priced to target a market segment somewhere between
the Smart Roadster and the BMW Z4 Coupe.
