La famiglia Porro ha concretizzato, nell’arco di tre
generazioni, la sua passione per i complementi d’arredo,

ingegneristica dell’oggetto finito.
Negli ultimi anni sta crescendo l’esigenza di interpretare
anche gli accessori come oggetti d’arredo che valorizzano
il progetto architettonico e di interior design. A tale scopo
la famiglia Porro ha destinato il prestigio del brand
Enrico Cassina che propone la sua filosofia di purezza
stilistica con la più ampia offerta di oggetti in metallo
e soluzioni “custom-made” con la garanzia di un prodotto
100% Made in Italy.
The Porro Family has actualized, in the space of three
generations, her passion for the furnishing accessories,
combining Master Engravers’ drawings with the
engineering precision of the final object.
In the last few years the need to interpret also the
accessories as furnishing objects, able to valorise the
architectural and interior design project, has been
growing. To this aim, the Porro Family has destined the
prestige of the Enrico Cassina brand, which proposes
his philosophy of stylistic pureness with the wider offer
of metal objects and “custom-made” solutions with the
guarantee of a 100% Made in Italy production.

Corrente Rinascimentale all’interno della quale cresce l’interesse
per il dettaglio e per la lavorazione curvilinea dei metalli.
La produzione di questo periodo si arricchisce di motivi ornamentali
sempre più esuberanti. Fanno la loro comparsa elementi nuovi,
quali: volute, riccioli, putti, ghirlande, amorini.
Renaissance trend in which grows the interest for the detail
and for the curvilinear manufacturing of metals.
The production of this period enhances ornamental motifs
which are more and more lively. New elements appear such as:
volutes, curls, putti, wreaths and cupids.

Lo Stile Luigi XV può definirsi l’espressione più piena del Rococò.
Sugli impianti formali vegetali, umani o animali si innestano
motivi capricciosi quali: palmette, perle, conchiglie, rosette, ovuli,
spirali, fiorellini e foglie intagliati nel legno, oppure fusi in bronzo
dorato o ancora modellati in porcellana o in ceramica policroma.
The Louis XV Style can be defined as the most substantial expression of the
Rococò. On vegetal, zoomorphic or anthropomorphic frameworks are
inserted capricious motifs, such as: palmettes, pearls, shells, rosettes, ovals,
spirals, little flowers and leaves carved in wood, or melt in gold bronze or
even modelled in porcelain or in polychrome ceramics.

In reazione allo stile precedente prevalgono ora la funzionalità sull’estetica,
la regolarità sulle asimmetrie, la linearità rettificata sulle sinuosità avvolgenti.
Gli elementi non geometrici, ammessi nella composizione, attengono
il motivo vegetale, animale, mitologico; si pensi a grifoni, leoni, sfingi,
ma sempre in forma stilizzata.
In reaction to the previous style, now the functionality prevails on the
aesthetics, the regularity on the asymmetries, the corrected linearity
on wrapped sinuosities. The non-geometrical elements, allowed in
the composition, contain the vegetal, animal and mythological motif,
such as griffons, lions, sphinxs, but always in a stylized form.

Un gusto teso a sottolineare la grandiosità delle imprese napoleoniche.
I motivi decorativi, quali sfingi, templi, cigni, vittorie alate
e corone di alloro ridotti nelle dimensioni e assottigliati negli spessori
assumono valenze decorative sobrie e lineari, perdendo del tutto
l’aulico richiamo simbolico.
A new style which is more and more oriented to underline the magnificence
of the Napoleonic triumph. The decorative motifs, such as sphinxs,
temples, swans, winged victories and laurel wreaths reduced in the
dimensions and in the thickness, acquire sober and linear decorative values,
completely losing the noble symbolic recall.

Oltre al lusso ed alla pomposità di un ritorno al gusto Luigi XVI, lo Stile
Secondo Impero importa nella Francia di secondo Ottocento le esperienze
innovative in campo economico e industriale dell’Inghilterra vittoriana.
La produzione in larga serie e a basso costo dai processi industriali
aprono il mercato alle classi meno abbienti.
Beyond the luxury and the pomposity of a Louis XVI Style comeback,
the Second Empire Style introduces, in the France of second half of the 19th
Century, the innovative experiences in economic and industrial field
of the Victorian England. The large scale and low cost production of the
industrial processes open the market to lower classes.

L’Impero Britannico al suo apice raccoglie e mescola gli stili provenienti
da Europa e Oriente mantenendo però una sobrietà e un equilibrio

The British Empire at its climax collects and mixes the styles coming
from Europe and the East by maintaining anyway a completely British
simplicity and balance. Rococò influence, particulars inspired to nature
and gothic rigorous lines can be found.

Generato da un senso di ribellione e riscatto nei confronti dell’industrializzazione,
l’Art Nouveau auspica il ritorno a un artigianato di qualità. La tendenza
all’assottigliamento delle linee, alla duttilità, alla plasticità, la preferenza verso
l’andamento curvilineo e le alternanze concavo-convesse, diventano
fondanti. In Italia lo stile è diffuso con la declinazione locale di “Floreale”.
Generated by a sense of rebellion and redemption towards the industrialization,
Art Nouveau looks for the comeback of high-quality craftsmanship. The tendency
of lines reduction, ductility, plasticity, the preference towards a curvilinear
trend and the concave-convex alternation, become essential. In Italy the style
is popular with the local name “Floral”.

La geometria anima e in forma gli stilemi di questa corrente, che in antitesi
con i motivi Art Nouveau, rettifica e spezza la linea fluente continua
ed enfatizza le tinte non più tenui e pastello ma piene e squillanti.
Tra le figure troviamo la “forma gradonata”, una sorta di struttura
scalare progressiva e speculare.
The geometry animates and gives a shape to the stylistic elements of this
trend, that in opposition to the Art Nouveau motifs, rectifies and breaks
the continuous fluent line and emphasizes the colour tones which
are no more subtle and pastel colours, but full and bright tonalities.
Among the symbolic motifs we can find the“step-shaped model”,
a sort of progressive and specular stepped structure.

excellent. It reinterprets the values of the Mediterranean classicism: good

Deforming at 750° a brass rod and
exerting on it a force of 3.600 tons,
the desired shape is obtained.
In this way, it is possible to obtain
objects with complex shapes
and with material compactness
features, impossible to obtain with

LOST WAX CASTING PROCESS
Un modello in cera finemente creato
dall’artigiano viene rivestito di polvere
ceramica che, opportunamente cotta
a 1.200˚, crea il calco che fungerà da
stampo per la fusione.
Utilizzando questo processo è
possibile ottenere articoli con
forme complesse e con dettagli
sufficientemente accurati.
A wax model finely created by the
artisan, covered with ceramic dust and
appropriately oven-dried at 1.200˚,
creates the cast that will work as
mould for the fusion.
Using this proccess, it is possible to
obtain objects with complex shapes
and enough accurate details.

Renaissance trend in which grows the interest for the detail and for the curvilinear manufacturing of metals.
The production of this period enhances ornamental motifs which are more and more lively.
New elements appear such as: volutes, curls, putti, wreaths and cupids.
The geometry animates and gives a shape to the stylistic elements of this trend, that in opposition to the Art Nouveau
motifs, rectifies and breaks the continuous fluent line and emphasizes the colour tones which are no more subtle and
pastel colours, but full and bright tonalities. Among the symbolic motifs we can find the “step-shaped model”,
a sort of progressive and specular stepped structure.
