Offers and Requests
Offerte e richieste
"Will" is also used in offers and requests.
For example, we can offer to open a window, carry
someone's bags, prepare supper, meet someone.

You can also use "Shall I" in offers:

"Shall I open the window?"
"Shall I carry your bag?"
"Shall I prepare supper?"
"The phone's ringing. Shall I answer it?"
“Will” viene usato anche per esprimere offerte
e richieste.
Per esempio, ci si può offrire di aprire una
finestra, di portare la borsa a qualcuno, di
preparare la cena, di incontrare qualcuno.

“Ti porto la borsa”
“Preparo la cena”
“Ti vedrò all’aeroporto”
Nelle offerte si può anche usare “shall I”:

“Ti porto la borsa?”
“Preparo la cena?”
“Sta squillando il telefono. Rispondo io?”
In American English, "Should I" is used in
offers:
Nell’inglese americano, viene usato “should
I” nelle offerte:
- "Should I open the window?"
- "The phone's ringing. Should I answer it?"
- “Apro la finestra?”
- “Sta squillando il telefono. Rispondo io?”
But you cannot use "going to" and you must not
use the present simple or present continuous
when offering to do something.
Ma non si può usare “going to”, né il
presente semplice o quello continuo, quando
ci si offre di fare qualcosa.
Requests can be made using "will you?":
Per le richieste si può usare “will you?”
- "Will you help me?"
- "Will you open the window?"
- "The phone's ringing. Will you answer it?"
- “Mi aiuti?”
- “Apri la finestra?”
- “Il telefono sta squillando. Rispondi tu?”
In addition to those presented earlier in this unit,
time expressions often used in offers and
requests include:
as soon as possible
at once
immediately/right away/ straight away
Ecco alcune espressioni di tempo, oltre a

You can say:
Si può dire:
- "Will you photocopy the report as soon as
possible? Yes, I'll do it right away"
- “Fotocopi al più presto possibile il rapporto?
Sì, lo faccio immediatamente”
