Eva Hesse è una delle artiste più influenti del dopoguerra americano. La sua breve carriera – morirà
di tumore all’età di 34 anni – ha contribuito alla nascita del minimalismo degli anni ’60-’70 influenzando una nuova generazione di artisti. Il film, riunendo
preziosi documenti quali i diari e la corrispondenza
personale, mette in luce la forte personalità di
un’artista donna che è riuscita a lasciare un segno
indelebile in una New York, dominata da artisti pop
e minimalisti di sesso maschile.

storia compositiva della celebre scultura, rimanendo fedele ai fatti realmente accaduti.

Joana Hadjithomas ed Etel Adnan si sono incontrate
quindici anni fa. Il loro stretto legame di amicizia è
dovuto alla comune provenienza dalla città turca
di Smirne (Izmir), da cui le loro famiglie si sono allontanate dopo l’incendio del 1922. Insieme immaginano un possibile ritorno che potrà avvenire solo
per Joana. Il film indaga sui concetti di identità e
appartenenza, utilizzando vecchie pellicole che sfumano fino ad impressionare sugli occhi l’immagine
della nuova Smirne ed il suo mare, esteso oltre i
confini terreni ed immaginari.

Remainder, tratto dal romanzo omonimo di Tom McCarthy, è uno psico-thriller, primo lungometraggio
di finzione del video artista israeliano Omer Fast. Il
protagonista Tom Sturridge, dopo essere stato colpito alla testa da un oggetto non identificato, perde
conoscenza. Si risveglierà dal coma e si appiglierà
ad una serie di ricordi oscuri per ricostruire ogni
dettaglio del suo passato. Il film, svolgendosi in un
loop senza fine, esplora il tema della relazione fra
reale e irreale, dando vita ad una riflessione sulla
natura effimera della mente umana.

Together they imagine a possible return, which will
only happen for Joana. The film investigates the
concepts of identity and belonging, using old films
to impress upon her eyes an image of New Smyrna
and the sea, extended beyond earthly and imaginary
boundaries.

coma and uses a series of dark memories to reconstruct every detail of his past. The film, which takes
place in an endless loop, explores the theme of reality-unreality, creating a reflection on the ephemeral nature of the human mind.
