ARCHITECTURE + INTERIOR DESIGN EXPERTISE OVERVIEW The studio has been called by the most important international brands to develop projects on different scales, all acts to the growth of the brand identity and its development: from international events to single installation, from headquarters to offices or showrooms, from museums to permanent exhibitions, from visual identity projects to signage and communication design. Over the years the studio has extended a strong expertise of management and development of projects, in Italy and abroad, in collaboration with international partners. Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto, co-founders of Migliore + Servetto Architects, create, together with an international team of architects and designers, projects characterized by the lightness of design, the scenographic use of light and materials, able to create memorable and engaging meeting settings. ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto designed the architecture, interior design and coordinated image of the De Suite Residence, located in downtown Milan. Based on innovative double level units, the new building is deeply connected with the industrial background of the area. They have been invited to many international competitions and they won various prizes for their architectural projects. For private clients they developted different private houses, such as the detached house in Vergo. In Milan they designed the Mondadori new concept store in 2015 and previously the concept store “Experience Space” for Bticino . In Beijing, they designed the SK Promotion Center, opened in 2013, to present the SK’s more advanced technologies for new contemporary cities for the korean company SK Group. In 2012, they designed the Mediabend Capital Headquarter in New York, and for Samsung the offices for the Design Division in Milan. In via della Spiga they designed the Fay store for Tod’s Group and in Paris the Iceberg store. They also developed retail design for other fashion brands such as Giorgio Armani, Max Mara, Krizia, Roger Vivier, Web. URBAN Among the numerous awards received, in 2008 they were awarded with the prestigious XXI ADI Compasso D’Oro for the urban design project “Look of the City” for Torino 2006 Winter Olympic Games with Italo Lupi, with more than 250 urban installations and the corporate image of the city. They conceived, with I. Lupi, the lighting installation of white, red and green light on the Mole Antonelliana that becomes a strong resumptive symbol of the Italian flag for the 150th Anniversary of Italy’s unification (with Philips and Luceplan). On the occasion of Expo 2015 they have conceived the “ExpoFlag Boulevard”, an urban ongoing installation (2012-2015) representing the Nations that joined the international event along the city center of Milan. Furthermore, they designed identity and wayfinding of Portello, a new urban discrict in Milan. museum They designed the permanent exhibition of the new “Chopin Muzeum” in Warsaw, the museum that displays the most extensive collection about Fryderyk Chopin, after winning an international competition held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and the National Heritage. The museum opened on the 1st March, 2010. In Turin, in 2012, they curated the exhibition project of “MDR Museo del Risparmio (the Savings Museum)” for Intesa Sanpaolo Bank, the first museum of its kind in Europe for its themes and its exhibition concept; for the Museo Egizio they are creative advisor and they’ve designed the new logo, the coordinated image, the exhibition system and the set up of thematic rooms. Actually, they are working on the permanent exhibition of the new “Polo Multimediale Leonardo Da Vinci” in the Palazzo Ducale of Vigevano. For Pesaro City Council they designed the permanent exhibition system, the bookshop and cafeteria at Palazzo Mosca Musei Civici di Pesaro. On May 2014 they won the competition for the permanent exhibition of the new Design Museum For Compasso D’oro Adi Collection in Milan in the spaces of the ancient Enel electric plant. EXHIBITION For Max Mara they designed the great itinerant retrospective “Coats! Max Mara, 55 years of Italian fashion” that took place in Berlin (2006), Tokyo (2007), Beijing (2008) and Moscow (2012) and they are now designing new spaces for exhibition and temporary sales in the main malls in Asia. For the Tod’s Grou from 2001 to 2013 they designed many events, product presentations and retail spaces in Italy, Europe and Asia. Among the recent projects, they designed “Artworks from the Musée National Picasso in Paris” at Palazzo Reale in Milan; the exhibition “Constancy & Change In Korean Traditional Craft 2013” at Triennale di Milano. In the last year they designed for W Magazine the exhibit “Shooting Stars” at the LACMA in Los Angeles; the exhibition “Walking Pleasure” for Moreschi at Triennale di Milano and “Bellissima. L’Italia dell’alta moda 1945-1968” at Villa Reale in Monza. RESEARCH AND TEACHING Thanks to their research, they were invited to take part into exhibitions and competitions both in Italy and abroad. In 2004 they were involved in the IX Biennale of Architecture in Venice “Metamorph”, and in 2006 in the exhibition “Scenographies d’architectes” designed by Jean Nouvel at Pavillon de l’Arsenal in Paris. In 2005, the Triennale of Milan asked them to design and organize the exhibition “Vuoto x Pieno”, a historic retrospective on temporary and museum set ups in Italy. Among the monographic exhibitions on their work there is “Space Morphing Migliore+Servetto temporary architecture” (Tokyo 2007, Turin 2008 and Seoul 2010), an itinerant exhibition that goes with the homonimous book published by Five Continents Editions and “Chopin Muzeum. Observer / Parteciper / Expérimenter: l’architecture et le design au service de la musique” at the International Centre for Urbanism, Architecture and Landscape CIVA, Brussels 2010. Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto are both teachers at the Politecnico di Milano where, until 1993, they worked alongside Achille Castiglioni. Ico Migliore teaches at the Design faculty in Milan and is also a visiting professor at Tokyo Zokei University and Kuwazawa Design School in Tokyo. Mara Servetto teaches at the Architecture faculty in Milan and is also a visiting professor at Joshibi University of Tokyo. Ico Migliore, for his experitse in the field of exhibition design, was selected as one of the nine jury members of the Official Participants Awards Expo Milan 2015.
