LIFE ON THE REEF
A 12 ans,
troupeau.

YELLOWSTONE
Few places are as special and unique as Yellowstone National Park –
America’s first national park. A wilderness jewel of vast forests and
wide-open valleys, home to large bison herds, wolf packs and grizzly
bears. It sits atop one of the world’s largest active super volcanoes,
giving rise to such iconic geothermal features as Old Faithful Geyser
and Grand Prismatic Spring. As part of the landmark wildlife series
AMERICA’S NATIONAL PARKS, “Yellowstone” was filmed over three
years by award-winning filmmakers Oliver Goetzl and Ivo Nörenberg.
Using the latest in cinematographic techniques, this film showcases

WALKING UNDER WATER
ELIZA KUBARSKA
Alexan, the last compressor diver on Mabul Island near Borneo,
teaches 10-year-old Sari everything he knows, from dangerous
fishing techniques and the temptations of the tourist economy to
wisdom about the underwater world. Walking Under Water presents
the Badjao tribe’s ancient traditions and collective experience as a
magical narrative, spinning the urgent pressures and problems they
face into a hybrid of fantasy, fiction and fact. The Badjao people
once lived like fish, spending the majority of their time on the water,
but with the encroachment of modern civilization that way of life has
become nearly extinct. Breathtaking underwater photography
emphasizes this loss and the drought of enchantment on dry land.
While Alexan refuses to accept that the world of his ancestors is
gone, Sari is torn between his longing to be a fisherman like his uncle
and the tug of the new world in the form of a nearby resort.

TIGER’S REVENGE
Tiger’s revenge is a compelling story of two tiger sisters whose life
journeys intermingle and clash against the backdrop of a
breathtaking ancient fort in the Ranthambore National Park. Despite
their natural instinct for domination over territory, it is their maternal
instincts that finally decide and shape their destinies. The film
unravels a poignant tale of motherhood even as it features the
rivalry, jealousies and love stories of the two tiger sisters. Filmed over
a period of 2 years in Ranthambore National Park, Tiger Revenge is
an observational documentary on the lives of a tiger family.

In a sparrow life around the world Within an annual circle and through
spectacular pictures Kurt Mayer follows the life of sparrows from city
to city across the globe. The complex co-production of ORF UNIVERSE with ARTE, NDR, BMUKK and Kurt Mayer film leads from
Cairo to New York to Beijing, from Moscow, to Vienna and Paris. The
young sparrow girl in Cairo, who is looking for a partner for the first
time, the sparrows child in New York, which leaves its nest for the first
time, all the sparrows in Beijing who take high risk being at the bird
market, just because they are looking for food and company, or the
little shivering sparrow in wintry Moscow, get lost on its foraging in a
kiosk, sparrows in the Prater spring in the Vienna Krieau or in the
summer Paris - in six episodes from different cities around the world says director Kurt Mayer touching stories of sparrows and people.
Although we the House Sparrows accompanies human beings for
more than 10,000 years, they are still wild animals. Patience and
artifice are required if one wants to come near them. Shooting
sparrows at eye level means to alter the camera site and life's main
focus in height of 3 to 8 meters above the ground. Not so easy in
cities such as Moscow or New York. In Paris it even resulted in 60
meters height on the towers of Notre Dame, the largest and most
beautiful 'sparrow‘ house in the world

“See no evil” portrays the daily life of three famous elderly apes who spend their days in
retirement homes; a movie-star, a scientist and a crippled. We have watched and taught
them for many years, as they have watched us. A sometimes bitter, poetic recapture of
the intriguing relationship between Chimp and Man, as ‘remembered’ by the protagonists.
1) CHEETA – the most famous chimpanzee on earth Cheeta is supposedly the last
moviestar alive from the Tarzan-era. Cheeta’s 80th birthday takes place in a sanctuary
in Palm Springs. The day begins with breakfast on the patio. Cheeta eats with a spoon,
drinks from a cup and wipes his mouth with a handkerchief. A gallery owner comes to
admire Cheeta’s paintings, and friends from the movie industry gather for his birthday.
Cheeta blows out the candles on the cake. In his easy chair on the edge of the swimming
pool, Cheeta has time to think back on his film career. After the party Cheeta plays some
piano and watches a Tarzan movie. 2) KANZI – the smartest ape on the planet Kanzi is
considered the smartest ape on the planet. He orders breakfast by means of a computer
screen and brushes his teeth using an Ipad. Kanzi’s 30-year learning program on
language acquisition was carefully documented on video. Kanzi is now old and a little
gloomy. He tries in vain to pass his computer knowledge on to his 2 year old son. At
sunset he grills some hotdogs on the barbecue. 3) THE CRIPPLED – based on a story of
human progress The Crippled lives on a small porch of a sanctuary. He moves with
difficulty: his left side is partly paralyzed. Today, The Crippled goes out for a long stroll
along the inhabitants of the sanctuary. During his walk he reflects on how apes were used
for human progress and remembers the space age. EPILOGUE: IN MEMORY OF ROGER
‘Reconstructed’ footage of young Roger shows an experiment in which Roger refuses
food as pay for a trick when he sees that his companion does not receive equal
payment…

They are the hottest, the driest, the harshest places on our planet,
and the setting for the earth’s most dramatic stories of survival and
endurance. The deserts. Alluring and austere, beautiful and
unforgiving, deserts make up a third of the earth’s surface. Here, in a
land of extremes, where the heat and sun are unrelenting, life stages
its most valiant stand. Arab Sands explores how the desert is more
than just a wasteland or a scorched horizon, the desert is a foe.
Relentless, inexorable. a lethal force advancing across the miles.
Every year, another 25,000 square miles of the earth turn to sand
and dust. The deserts are swallowing our planet. How can scientists
halt this monster in its tracks? Stopping the growth of the desert has
become an urgent global effort. With one-third of the earth’s surface
covered in arid lands it would seem as if nothing could possibly
survive here. Yet, amazingly, many creatures do. How do animals
manage to eke out a life in these barren, unforgiving places- with
temperatures that soar up to 140 degrees, and rainfall limited to only
one or two inches a year? Arabs Sands explore these bitter
wastelands to find out how a place of death is, in fact, remarkably
alive. We see discover these last outposts of humanity, of wildlife, of
survival itself.
