Il 1° giugno 1866 il personale delle
Squadriglie di Soccorso della Croce
Rossa Italiana fu assoggettato dal
Ministero della Guerra alla disciplina
militare, con equiparazione gerarchica
ai gradi dell’Esercito e relativa
uniforme. Dal 15 giugno di quell’anno,
con l’impiego nella III Guerra
d’Indipendenza, i militari C.R.I.
operano ininterrottamente con compiti
di assistenza sanitaria alle Forze Armate
in tempo di pace, guerra e grave crisi
internazionale nonché di protezione
civile in missioni umanitarie per aiuto
alle popolazioni colpite da calamità. Al
Corpo, la cui Festa ricorre il 25 giugno,
è concesso per legge l’uso della Bandiera
nazionale.
Since June 1, 1866, at the behest of the
Ministry of War, the Italian Red Cross
Rescue Squads have been subject to military
discipline and aligned with hierarchy of
ranks and uniform of the Italian Army.
On June, 15 of the same year the soldiers of
the Military Corps of the Italian Red Cross
started playing an active role in the Third
War of Independence and since then they
have been ceaselessly providing the Armed
Forces with medical assistance in times of
peace, as well as in times of war and harsh
international crisis. Through humanitarian
missions they also provide aid and civil
protection to countries and people affected
by disasters. The Corps was granted by law
the use of the Italian national flag and
celebrates its anniversary on June, 25.
