Words from Karl and Elisa, Prince and Princess of Oertha The termination dust has made its way down the mountains and the snows begin to fall upon Our lands. It is time to turn Our attention to hearth and home, and to prepare for the upcoming Yule season. We look forward to traveling to the celebrations throughout the Principality, to breaking bread together, and to tales of great deeds in story and song. Then We will journey south again, to witness the crowning of the new King and Queen at Twelfth Night. The autocrats for Our Coronet Tournament have been hard at work preparing an amazing event. We hope to see as many as are able enter the coronet list. There will be a special activity for the consorts as well; those who plan to fight are requested to make their intentions known to Us by Twelfth Night so that the autocrats may know for how many they should prepare. His Highness’ Whim – Dress a fighter. Includes both the fighter's armor and garments (overall appearance). Prefer for the fighter to be there and show off during one of the tournaments, but those who are not able to attend can send in a photo album (hard copy please). The person(s) who did most of the work are the entrants, which means non-fighters are welcome to enter by dressing a victim, er, fighter. Points added for historical accuracy and documentation. Her Highness’ Whim – Best period use of lavender (the flower). Points added for historical documentation. To help the populace meet the challenge of His Highness' Whim, We have Oerthan blue trigger cloth available for any who wish to make an Oerthan fighter tabbard that is appropriate to his or her personna. The tabbard is your personal property, and the fabric (up to three yards per person) is FREE, a gift from Us, to any resident of the Principality. The fabric is also available to groups for making regalia, also FREE. Please contact Us at [email protected] to request yardage. The Baron and Baroness of Winter's Gate have put forth a call to select their successors. We are saddened to see them step down, but understand that they wish to pursue other interests. We thank them for their service and wish them well in their new endeavors. We encourage the residents of Winter's Gate to consider entering the selection process, and to provide feedback on the candidates, so that a wise decision can be made. We had a great time, the sunshine was marvelous... it actually got hot! Thanks to the 42 hardy souls who came out and played, it was a very successful demo indeed. Although we had a last minute change of site it actually worked in our favor. There were a lot of people coming through our encampment to talk to us and check out the arts and sciences, the armor and weaponry, play with the boffer equipment. Elizabeth and Shannon provided lovely music at the encampment. Occasionally Fathir and Etain would bring out their drums and wander through. It made for great ambience. We got some great pictures too, the ones from my camera taken by Katya and Garyn are posted on flikr.com, the address is:http://flickr. com/photos/ 12159566@ N03/ I hope that the others who were taking pictures will post theirs as well.
