LA STORIA: SAPERE E FARE DAL 1931
Nel 2016 festeggiamo 80 anni con i
protagonisti della mostra: i maggiori
maestri artigiani della tradizione e
innovazione.
La
manifestazione,
dedicata
all’artigianato italiano e di tutto
il mondo, attenta alle nuove
tecnologie con un occhio rivolto ai
giovani, è nata nel 1931.
Viene sospesa per la 2° guerra
mondiale dal 1941 al 1946 e riapre al
“Parterre” di Firenze (Piazza Cavour,
oggi piazza della Libertà) in attesa
della realizzazione del nuovo polo
espositivo fiorentino che la ospiterà
dal 1978 nella prestigiosa Fortezza
da Basso di Firenze.

Il tema predominante per i “ suoi primi 80 anni” sarà il colore, anzi mille colori che
indicheranno i percorsi espositivi, che avvolgeranno la fiera nelle loro sfumature e
appariranno come fuochi di artificio. La manifestazione avrà un ricco programma di
iniziative: uno spazio dedicato alle collettive, percorsi “colorati” in città che indicheranno
piccole e grandi realtà artigiane.

THE FAIR’S HISTORY > KNOW-HOW SINCE 1931
The year 2016 will see the
celebration of the Fair’s 80 years
with its main protagonists - the
greatest master craftsmen of
tradition and innovation.
This event was created in 1931
and is devoted to Italian and
international handicrafts, always
focusing on new technologies and
young emerging talents.
The Fair did not take place
between 1941 and 1946 due to
World War II. After war, it reopened
at the “Parterre” in Florence (Piazza
Cavour, today called Piazza della
Libertà) while the new Florence
exhibition centre was being built. From 1978 on, the exhibition centre would host it inside the
prestigious Fortezza da Basso in Florence.

The main theme for the Fair’s “first” 80 years” will be colours - thousands of colours marking
the various exhibiting itineraries and wrapping the Fair in their various nuances as fireworks.
The Fair will feature a rich programme of events, including collective exhibitions, “coloured”
itineraries inside the city, leading to small and big artisanal activities.
