3. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . As soon as the network device (e.g. computer) connected to the network interface is switched on again, your device can also be reached again via the electrical wiring. 5. Ethernet (RJ45) port: ethernet cable must be connected here 6. Power plug: to be inserted in power socket. 3 P-Link 0.1 2.3 Initial Use This section covers everything you need to know to set up your P-Link 0.1. It will explain the package contents and the system requirements. We will also describe how to connect the P-Link 0.1 and its functions, such as network encryption. 2.3.1 Package contents Please ensure that the delivery is complete before beginning with the installation of your P-Link 0.1. The kit consists in: • 2 x P-Link 0.1 adapters; • 2 x network cables; • 1 x quick guide; • 1 x warranty paper. 2.3.2 System requirements The P-Link 0.1 do not have any particular requirement. It can work with any computer or device (with a operating system with network support). The only note is that your computer or other device must feature a network adapter with a network port. 2.3.3 Connecting the P-Link 0.1 This section describes how to connect your P-Link 0.1 to a computer or other network device. Please perform the following steps in order to connect the device: 1. Use the included network cable to connect the P-Link 0.1 to the network port of your running computer or other network device 2. Plug the P-Link 0.1 into a free electrical outlet NOTE If possible, do not plug the adapter into a power strip. This may impair the transmission of the adapter signals. A free wall outlet is preferable. 3. Once you have connected at least two P-Link 0.1 adapters as described above, your P-Link 0.1 network has been set up. To secure your P-Link 0.1 network, continue with the configuration as described in section 2.4.1. 2.4 Advanced Use Data communication via the household power grid is encrypted to ensure the privacy of your P-Link 0.1 network. The following section describes data encryption options by using the encryption button on the powerline adapters. In P-Link 0.1 networks, data encryption is as simple as touching a button, since all corresponding P-Link 0.1 devices are equipped with an encryption button. 2.4.1 Network encryption To encrypt a P-Link 0.1 network, in which all associated devices are equipped with an encryption button, simply press the encryption button that is located on the device. Pressing this button will encrypt your P-Link 0.1 network with a randomly generated password. NOTE Adapters cannot be configured while in Standby mode. All adapters are configurated with the same factory default password. This is done mainly because the adding of a new adapter in an existing network is automatic (by just connecting the adapter to the power grid) without the need to press the encryption button in all the existing adapters on your network. Please note that the pressing of the encryption button will cause the generation of a new random password and the reset of the factory password. The following section contains exact instructions on the basis of possible network scenarios: 4 TELE System 2.4.1.1 Encrypting a new P-Link 0.1 network consisting of two P-Link 0.1 adapters Once both P-Link 0.1 adapters have been successfully connected, press each encryption button for 1 second within two minutes of one another. That’s it! Your P-Link 0.1 network is now protected against unauthorized access. 2.4.1.2 Expanding an existing P-Link 0.1 network with a new P-Link 0.1 If you have already secured your existing P-Link 0.1 network using the encryption button, use the same method to integrate other adapters. Once you have successfully connected the new P-Link 0.1, first press the encryption button of one of your network’s existing adapters (1 second), then press the encryption button of your new P-Link 0.1 (1 second) within two minutes. That’s it! The new P-Link 0.1 is now integrated in your network. To integrate additional P-Link 0.1 adapters in your network, repeat the above steps. 2.4.1.3 Excluding a P-Link 0.1 from your network To exclude a P-Link 0.1 adapter from an existing network, press its encryption button for at least ten seconds. The device will be assigned a new randomly generated password and will thus no longer be able to access the network. To integrate the adapter in a different P-Link 0.1 network, follow the steps described above, depending on whether you are setting up a new network or adding the adapter to an existing one. 2.4.2 Bandwidth Optimization We recommend observing the following connection rules to eliminate possible sources of interference: • Avoid extension strips. This may impair the transmission of signals. Free wall outlets are preferable • Also position the adapter away from your computer as it may interfere with the adapter’s operation • Plug the devices into different outlets and avoid using the same extension strip 5 P-Link 0.1 3 Technical Specifications Standards Protocols Trasmission Modulation Range Encryption LEDs Power Consumption Power Supply Temperature Ambient conditions Weight Dimensions System requirements Quality of Service features Security Accessories Certifications 6 Ethernet specification IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3X, IEEE 802.3U, Auto MDI/X, HomePlug AV CSMA/CA over power supply grid up to 200 Mbps (asynchronous method) ODFM-1155 carriers, 1024/256/64-QAM, QPSK, BPSK max 300 meters 128-bit AES encryption via powerline, pairing can be activated directly by pressing the button on the adapter 3 LEDs: power, network status, ethernet connection max 0.1 A with: maximum 4.3 W, typical 3.1 W, standby 0.3 W AC 100-240 V 50/60 Hz storage: -25 °C - 70 °C, operation: 0 °C - 35 °C 10 - 90 % humidity (non-condensing) 103 g 84 x 66 x 29 mm ( HxWxD) Ethernet interface, all operating systems with TCP/IP support Data prioritization for quality assurance of real time applications (e.g. VoIP, IPTV, etc) FEC (Forward Error Correction) and Retransmission Encryption button (for pairing adapters) Ethernet cables x 2, installation flyer, Warranty paper CE compliant: EN55022-1:2006, EN50412-2-1:2005, EN60950-1:2006, CISPR/I/89:2003, RoHS certified, Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC, EMC Directive 2004/108/EC Codice Prodotto 23500055 Adattatore Powerline Product Code 23500055 Powerline Adapter TELE System P-Link 0.1 TELE System P-Link 0.1 Dichiarazione di Conformità CE TELE System Electronic dichiara sotto la propria responsabilità che questo prodotto soddisfa i requisiti fondamentali delle direttive europee 2004/108/CE (EMC - Electromagnetic Compatibility) e 2006/95/CE (LVD - Low Voltage Directive) rispettando le seguenti normative tecniche: CE conformity declaration TELE System Electronic states that this product meets the basic European requirements of 2004/108/EC (EMC - Electromagnetic Compatibility) and 2006/95/EC (LVD - Low Voltage Directive), following the technical directives: • Compatibilità elettromagnetica / Electromagnetic compatibility: - EN55022: 2006+A1:2007 - EN50412-2-1: 2005 - EN61000-3-2: 2006+A2:2009 - EN61000-3-3: 2008 - EN61000-4-11: 2004 • Bassa Tensione / Low Voltage: 2006+A11:2009+A1:2010 ITALY TELE System Electronic Srl Via Dell’Artigianato, 35 36050, Bressanvido (VI), Italy Web: www.telesystem-world.com (Italy only) Tel.
