L’esattezza di ciò che porta naturale bellezza, non fa porre domande
sull’impegno che ha preceduto il risultato. È il sottinteso stupore che aggiunge
valore. Se ne subisce il fascino, se ne è rapiti, e non se ne sa trovare la ragione.
Se non in quella sottile certa sensazione che è la cosa giusta per chi la sceglie.
Sembra essere questa la condizione con cui si mostrano e con le quali
si guardano le produzioni Cassina, che siano eredità dei Maestri o concezioni
dei Contemporanei. Forse perché frutto della determinazione che solo l’idea
perfezionabile riesce a raggiungere, al di là e al di qua, di ogni considerevole sforzo
che implica, divenendo il più delle volte, il piacere di una sfida vinta. L’insieme
partecipa alla definizione finale: lo studio di un incastro, la conformazione
di un imbottito, la scelta di un materiale e di un colore, la visualizzazione
e l’affinamento di un processo, la messa a punto di un macchinario, l’impuntura
di una cucitura, la ricerca di un solido equilibrio strutturale. Tasselli di un tutto,
immaginati da talenti, governati da mani che sanno cosa fare, che per prime
plasmano, rifiniscono, maneggiano parti di oggetti destinati al contatto visivo,
corporeo e sensoriale. Seguono taciti patti consolidati, che appartengono
alla laboriosa fedeltà di una storia, fatta per spostare il tempo, mai per rimpiangere
quello passato. In un ordito di memorie, sempre nuove, destinate a ciclicità,
né effimere né passeggere, ma avvezze a cogliere i piccoli scarti di umori
e dinamiche dello scorrere mutevole degli anni. Attecchiscono in modo sincero
e così appaiono e si dipanano, come astrazioni di idee mai astratte.
Sono divani, sedie, poltrone, tavoli e tavolini definiti nel loro farsi e disfarsi,
nella durata. Riemergono, come lasciti ai posteri o si affermano come testimoni
del presente, in un andirivieni che si rinnova in tecnica e stile. Giusti per il luogo
che gli si decide, nel caso in cui scoccasse la scintilla e ci si ritrovasse
a non domandarsene il perché.

astonishment it elicits
as it both seduces
and overwhelms

to be what happens
when Cassina
products
are displayed,
showing the legacy
of the Maestri
collection or giving
ideas from
the Contemporanei
collection. Possibly
since it is understood
that only an idea
that can be improved
on can give
the satisfaction
of having met
the challenge head
on, generally taking
no account of the
endeavour behind it.
The final ensemble
is a reflection
of each individual part:
the right joint,
the shape of a tuft,
the choice
of materials
or colour, perfecting
a work process,
calibrating a machine,
a certain type
of backstitching
or the quest
for a stable structural
balance.
All are elements
of the whole, dreamt
up by designers
and fashioned
by expert hands
that mould, shape
and put the finishing
touches onto items
that will touch
the visual, physical
and sensorial
faculties. They follow
well-established

that have been passed
down through time,
moving along with
it but never regretting
the past. All contained
in a web of memories
that are constantly
being reinvented,
neither short-lived
nor transient
but adept at gathering
those scraps
of humour and energy

themselves as such,
like abstract concepts
of ideas that are
never abstract. Sofas,
chairs, armchairs,
tables and side tables
engaged
in a never-ending
cycle of sleeping
and waking.
To re-emerge
as legacies to future
generations
or perhaps witnesses
to the present
in an ever-evolving
labyrinth of technique
and style. A spark
goes off and lands
in the place of choice
for a perfect fit;
it just does.

Die Präzision
der Dinge, die eine
natürliche Schönheit
verkörpern, regt nicht
zu Fragen bezüglich

Verbindung,
die Formgestaltung
eines Polstermöbels,

Materials

L’exactitude
de ce qui est beau
naturellement
ne fait pas poser
de questions
sur tout le travail
qui a précédé
le résultat. C’est
l’étonnement sousentendu qui ajoute
de la valeur.
On en subit
la beauté, on en
est comme dérobé,
et on ne sait pas
en trouver le motif.
Si ce n’est dans cette
sensation délicate
et nette qui est
une chose agréable
pour toute personne
qui la choisit. Il semble
que ce soit dans cet
état d’esprit qu’il faut
montrer et regarder
les productions
Cassina, qu’elles
soient un héritage
des Maîtres
ou qu’elles aient été
pensées par
des Contemporains.
Peut-être parce
qu’elles sont le fruit
de la détermination
que seule l’idée
perfectible arrive
à atteindre, de part
et d’autre, de tout
travail considérable
qui implique,
et devient la plupart
du temps, le plaisir
d’un défi gagné.
L’ensemble participe
à la définition
finale: l’étude
d’un assemblage,
la configuration
d’un produit
rembourré, le choix
d’un matériau
et d’une couleur,
l’affichage et le
perfectionnement
d’un procédé,
la mise au point d’une
machinerie, la piqûre
d’une couture,
la recherche
d’un solide équilibre

Ce ne sont que des
parties d’un tout,
elles sont imaginées

gouvernées

écarts d’humeurs

et elles apparaissent
et se dénouent

des sièges,
des fauteuils,
des tables grandes
et petites, définis
dans leur structure,
dans la durée.
Ils réapparaissent,
comme laissés
à la postérité
ou s’affirment
comme des témoins
du présent,
dans ces allers
et retours incessants
qu’il y a dans
la technique
et le style.
En adéquation avec
l’endroit qu’on va lui
trouver, au cas
où une étincelle
se produit
et qu’on
se retrouve à ne pas
s’en demander

designed in 1928 and
purchased for the
home of Swiss banker
and collector Raoul
La Roche. This version
is one of the first
prototypes of the sofa
and, when compared

on the stark contrast
between the materials

colours.

Full-grain cowhide leather: dyed thoroughly,
produced with tanning process that uses natural
tannins and organic fabric materials. Water
semi-polyurethane finishing that preserves the
natural characteristics of softness and providing
adequate surface protection against stains.
Slight imperfections of the natural grain are
a proof of the naturalness of the article.

After having researched the industrial
process adopted in the production and
disposal of the chromium used in the LC
Collection models, Cassina decided to employ the
trivalent chromium, a safe and considerably
less toxic alternative to hexavalent thanks
to lower chromium concentration levels,
less air emissions and consequently less toxic
waste.
Nach einer Analyse des Industrieprozesses für die
Fertigung der Modelle der LC Collection und der
Entsorgung des dafür verwendeten Chroms hat
sich Cassina dazu entschlossen, auf dreiwertiges
Chrom zurückzugreifen. Dieses stellt dank seiner
geringeren Konzentration an Chrommetall,
niedrigerer Emissionen in die Luft und somit
auch weniger toxischen Abfällen eine sichere
und deutlich weniger giftige Alternative zum
sechswertigen Chrom dar.

of the coauthors, has led to a series of product
upgrades for the LC Collection with the aim
of discovering the authentic spirit of the project.
Cassina presents a reviewed palette of colours for
the collection’s frames which will update
the nuances originally identified in 1978
by Charlotte Perriand. The new tones were
discovered during the analysis of models from the
archives and museums.

alta ricerca nella costruzione dei tessuti,

Tutto presentato in armonia con le montagne
più alte del mondo, prendendo ispirazione
dalle culture delle genti che le popolano e
dai colori della natura, declinati in una palette
particolarmente ampia e intensa. Texture di

Everest, the world’s highest mountain. This
collection combines the most advanced aspects
of fabric production, research, quality in blending
different fibres and careful research into style and
colour.
Presented in harmony with the world’s highest
mountain, the items take inspiration from the
cultures of the people who live there and the
colours of nature, expressed using a particularly
broad and intense palette. The textures emerge
out of research and character: a vast range to
meet multiple needs, from water washable fabrics
to those inspired by the world of fashion, designed
by Raf Simons.
Everest der höchste Berg des Planeten. Die von
uns präsentierte Musterkollektion verkörpert das
Beste vom Besten der Textilerzeugnisse, eine
tiefgehende Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeit
für die Strukturierung der Gewebe, Qualität bei der
Mischung verschiedener Fasern, eine sorgfältige
Gestaltung von Stil und Farbgebung.
Grundlage war dabei die Harmonie mit den
höchsten Bergen der Welt, die Inspiration durch
Kulturen der Völker, die diese besiedelt haben
und durch die Farben der Natur, die sich in einer
besonders breit gefächerten, wirkungsvollen
Farbpalette widerspiegeln. Neu erforschte,
prägnante Gewebestrukturen; eine reiche
Auswahl, um den verschiedensten Erfordernissen
gerecht zu werden, die von mit Wasser
waschbaren Stoffen zu von der Mode inspirierten
Geweben reicht, welche von Raf Simons
entworfen wurden.

abbiamo voluto raggiungere un picco di
qualità, ampliando la gamma di colori della
Pelle Naturale e affiancando la nuova collezione
di Pelle Naturale ZZ, straordinariamente calda
e naturale, con tonalità pastello che la rendono
ancora più autentica.
Le pelli sono rigorosamente pieno fiore,
le piccolissime imperfezioni raccontano le
origini naturali di una materia prima che viene
dai migliori allevamenti italiani ed europei e
lavorata da storiche concerie italiane, nel pieno
rispetto dell’ambiente; tradizione e modernità,
in una mescolanza perfetta. Ne scaturisce una
pelle nobile, bella da sfiorare e da guardare.
As with the fabrics, we have strived for the same
superlative quality in the leather, extending the
range of colours in the Natural Leather (Pelle
Naturale) range and accompanying the new
extraordinarily warm and natural Natural Leather
ZZ (Pelle Naturale ZZ) collection, with pastel tones
that make the colours even more authentic.
The leather is strictly full-grain, the tiny
imperfections testimony to the natural origins of
a material that comes from the best Italian and
European farms before being worked by famous
Italian tanneries, respecting the environment in a
perfect synthesis of tradition and modernity. The
result is top-quality leather, beautiful to touch and
to behold.
Gleich wie bei den Stoffen, haben wir auch bei
Leder auf höchste Qualität gesetzt und die
Farbpalette des Naturleders (Pelle Naturale)
erweitert und durch die neue Kollektion von
Naturleder ZZ (Pelle Naturale ZZ) bereichert,
die außerordentlich warme, natürliche Farben,
mit Pastelltönen umfasst, durch die sie noch
authentischer wird.
Es wird ausschließlich Vollnarbenleder verwendet,
wobei die kleinen Fehler den Nachweis über
den natürlichen Ursprung eines Rohmaterials
erbringen, das den besten italienischen und
europäischen Zuchten entstammt und in
traditionellen, italienischen Gerbereien unter
Einhaltung aller Umweltschutznormen verarbeitet
wird. Tradition und Moderne, ein perfektes
Bündnis, aus dem edles, schönes Leder mit
angenehmem Griff hervorgeht.

avons voulu atteindre un sommet de qualité, en
élargissant la gamme de couleurs du Cuir Naturel
(Pelle Naturale) et en y ajoutant la nouvelle
collection de Cuir Naturel ZZ (Pelle Naturale ZZ),
extraordinairement chaud et naturel, avec des tons
pastel qui le rendent encore plus authentique.
Les cuirs sont rigoureusement pleine fleur, les
très petites imperfections racontent les origines
naturelles d’une matière première qui provient des
