In un panorama tutt'altro che stimolante come quello che abbiamo davanti in questo periodo, succedono delle cose che mi fanno pensare che “c'è ancora vita su
Marte.” Nonostante la crisi e la precarietà del lavoro, la Waltex Tricot non ha tagliato il suo pregiato premio Jazz.
Il Festival delle Colline, che quest'anno si intitola “In a different way”, è fiero di coprodurre il concerto del vincitore di questa edizione: in a different way, in un altro
modo si affrontano i momenti di crisi, per esempio investendo sulla cultura;
in un altro modo si fanno i concerti: in questa occasione in fabbrica, alla Waltex.

In a general panorama other than stimulating during this period, some things happen that make me think that "there is still life on Mars." Despite the crisis and the
precariousness of the job, Waltex Tricot has not cut his appreciated Jazz Award.
The Festival delle Colline, called this year “IIn a different way”, is proud to co-produce the concert of the winner of this edition:
In a different Way, in another way the moments of crisis are faced, for example
investing on the culture; in another way we make the concerts: in this occasion in
factory, at Waltex.

Bass vs melody (K.W.) è dedicato a Kenny Werner, pianista e compositore americano in
piena attività creativa, didattica e musicale. Su di lui ho concentrato parte della mia ricerca musicale e non solo.
Song for India. Nel 2011, a sorpresa, un viaggio a Nuova Delhi con il quartetto di Enzo
Pietropaoli. Un'esperienza toccante, formativa e penetrante, un'occasione per carpire
l'essenza di quella cultura per me nuova, colori, profumi e sapori che ho cercato di fotografare con questo brano.
Vai...lentina è l'ultimo brano scritto per questo disco che esprime, nel quadro sonoro
disegnato dal contrabbasso e dal pianoforte, tutta l'instabilità di questo momento storico. E pensare che doveva essere un brano semplice, di facile ascolto!
Bass Vs.Melody (k.w.) is dedicated to Kenny Werner, pianist and american
composer in full creative activity, didactis and musical. Upon him I have assembled part
of my musical research and not only.
Song for India. In 2011, surprising, a trip to New Delhi with the quartet of Enzo
Pietropaoli. A touching, formative and penetrating experience, an occasion to snatch the
essence of that culture for me new, colors, perfumes and tastes that I have tried to photograph with this passage.
Vai...Lentina it is the last passage written for this disk that expresses, in the sonorous
picture drawn from the contrabbasso and the piano the whole instability of this historical
moment. And think that had to be a simple passage, of easy listening!

Ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere una musicista straordinaria e di grande energia con cui
ho l'onore di collaborare: Cristina Zavalloni, a cui C.Z. è dedicato. I colori della sua voce
mi hanno guidato nell'immaginazione e nella scrittura di queste melodie.
I'll remember you è dedicato ad una persona che ora non c'è più e che mi piace ricordare con questo brano. Quasi un'elegante marcia funebre, in tre quarti, che da una melodia iniziale molto intensa si sviluppa in maniera serena e garbata come era questa persona in vita.
I have had the fortune to know an extraordinary musician with a great energy with which
I have the honor to collaborate: Cristina Zavalloni, to whom C.Z. is dedicated. The colors
of her voice have driven me in the imagination and in the writing of these melodies.
I'll remember you is devoted to a person is not more with us and that I like to remember
with this passage. Almost an elegant funeral march, in three quarters, that it develops in
serene and polite way from a very intense initial melody as it was this person in life.

Nella musica improvvisata c'è un sassofonista che ha segnato i miei ascolti: il suo nome
è David Binney a cui è dedicato D.B. La forma è articolata in due parti: la prima molto
energica e concepita principalmente per la chitarra solista, la seconda più riflessiva,
caratterizzata dall'effetto delay (ritardo) eseguito dal vivo da tutti gli strumenti.
B.B. Sono le iniziali di Brian Blade, musicista e compositore che più di tutti mi ha segnato strumentalmente. Ricordo con emozione la prima volta che lo vidi suonare dal vivo,
vicinissimo a me in un teatro: delicatezza e energia, maestria e istinto, il tutto unito e
volto al servizio della musica.
In the improvised music there is a saxophonist that has marked my listening: its name is
David Binney to which D.B. is dedicated to. The form is articulated in two parts: the first
very energetic and mainly
conceived for the solist guitar, the most reflexive the second, characterized by the effect
delay performed live by all the tools.
B.B. are the initials of Brian Blade, musician and composer that more than all has marked me. I remember with emotion the first time that I saw him play live, near to me in a
theater: delicacy and energy, mastery and instinct, the whole service for the music.
L' estrazione classica da cui provengo ha fatto sì che mi appassionassi ai Corali, magnifica forma musicale attraverso la quale una melodia viene armonizzata a quattro voci.
Corale ne è la mia "imperfetta" rivisitazione.
Per Chopin più che una dedica, questo brano è il mio omaggio a Frédéric Chopin. Le
sue opere sono state la colonna sonora degli anni che ho vissuto a Perugia: le prime
esperienze di vita indipendente, i primi gruppi, gli amici cari. Un periodo che non dimenticherò mai.
Mè...me. Una ballata dove il suono e il rapporto tra gli strumenti è l'elemento principale.
Il tema iniziale lascia la scena al contrabbasso, accompagnato da pochissimi interventi.
L'armonia porta la mente a spazi aperti, alla decompressione dalle informazioni e dagli
stimoli ricevuti fino ad ora nell'ascolto.
The classic extraction from which I came from, has make me grieved to the Chorals,
magnificent musical form through which a melody is harmonized to four voices. "Corale"
it's mine "defective" revival.
For Chopin more than a dedication, this passage is my homage to Frédéric Chopin. Its
works have been the soundtrack of the years that I have lived in Perugia: the first experiences of independent life, the first groups, the dear friends. A period that I will never forget.
Me'...me. A ballad where the sound and the relationship among the tools it's the principal element. The initial theme leaves the scene to the contrabbasso, accompanied by little interventions. Harmony brings the mind to open spaces, to the decompression from
the information and from stimulus
received in the listening till now.
