GLI ATTI CHE PERVERRANNO NELLA FORMA SBAGLIATA, SENZA APOSTILLE , SENZA MODULO DI
RICHIESTA DI TRASCRIZIONE E PRIVI DEI DOCUMENTI RICHIESTI VERRANNO RESTITUITI SENZA SEGUITO.
Questo Consolato Generale trascrive in Italia i certificati di nascita, matrimonio e morte, nonchè i decreti di divorzio
rilasciati nei seguenti Stati: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Isalnds, Antille
Olandesi, British Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos, Cayman Islands e Bahamas.
I certificate devono essere di tipo “exemplified copy”, “long form” o simile ed essere obbligatoriamente
accompagnati dalla APOSTILLE. La Apostille costituisce la legalizzazione internazionale del documento secondo la
Convenzione dell’Aia.
I certificate di Stato Civile e le Apostille si richiedono ai “Bureau of Vital Statistics” dello Stato che li ha rilasciati facendo
presente che il documento richiesto e’ necessario per la trascrizione in Italia. Qualora questi Uffici non rilascino la
Apostille o non possano coadiuvare il richiedente nell’ottenere tale legalizzazione, occorrera’, una volta ottenuto il
documento dal “Bureau of Vital Statistics”, inviarlo al Dipartimento di Stato competente.
Questo Consolato Generale fa il possibile per mantenere una lista di indirizzi aggiornata ma resta responsabilita’ del
cittadino procurarsi la documentazione completa e corretta.
I cittadini italiani residenti della circoscrizione di questo Ufficio che intendano presentare a questo Consolato Generale atti
di stato civile provenienti da Stati e Paesi non insclusi nella lista di cui sopra, sono pregati di prendere nota che questo
Ufficio non può trascrivere gli atti in Italia direttamente e dovrà pertanto inviarli ai Consolati degli Stati e Paesi che li hanno
rilasciati. Si prega, pertanto, di informarsi presso i Consolati competenti sulle formalità di presentazione dei documenti. E’
certo che tutti gli atti rilasciati negli Stati Uniti devono essere muniti di Apostille. Lo stesso dicasi per gli atti Canadesi,
Venezuelani e Argentini. Per gli altri Paesi si prega di contattare i Consolati competenti prima di presentare i documenti a

ITALIAN CITIZENS RESIDING ABROAD ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO REGISTER ALL CHANGES REGARDING
THEIR VITAL STATISTIC RECORDS IN ITALY.
KINDLY FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS AND BE AWARE THAT PHOTOCOPIED DOCUMENTS,
DOCUMENTS IN ABBREVIATED FORMS AND DOCUMENTS WITHOUT “APOSTILLE” AND PROPER FORMS AND
DOCUMENTATION AS REQUESTED BY THE CONSULATE WILL BE RETURNED TO THE SENDER
This Consulate General is authorized to register in Italy birth, marriage, divorce and death of certificates issued in the
following territories: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Netherlands
Antilles, British Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos, Cayman Islands and Bahamas.
Certificate of Vital Statistics must be “exemplified or long form” and must include names, place and date of birth of
spouses or individuals. An “Apostille” is required on all vital statistics certificates and divorce documents. The
Apostille is a mandatory international certification issued by the competent Departments of State in accordance with the
Hague Convention.
Certificates of vital statistics are issued by the “Offices or Bureau of Vital Statistics” some of which may also facilitate the
acquisition of the “Apostille”. In general, the “Apostille” must be obtained separately, by sending the certificate to the
competent Department of State.
Although an effort is made to keep a list of addresses of Bureaus and Departments of State, it’s the responsibility of the
interested party to obtain correct documentation from the proper sources.
Italian citizens residing in the territorial jurisdiction of this Consulate General may present to this Office requests for
registration in Italy of vital statistic documents issued in Countries outside this jurisdiction. Please be aware that such
documents will not be registered in Italy directly by this Office, rather they will be forwarded to the responsible Consulates
and it remains the responsibility of the citizen to provide the proper documentation in accordance with the instruction
provided by the responsible consulates.
