two time Academy Award nominee, Hany Abu-Assad.
The 2014 Oscar nominated for best foreign film “Omar”
opened the 5th Middle East Now .
_ Showcase of 4 recently restored treasures from the
Region in collaboration with Martin Scorsese’s World
Cinema Project.
_ Special focus on new films from Morocco, Iran, Iraq,
Qatar and Syria.

The Middle East Now Festival launched in 2010 as a fledgling
film showcase to highlight the best new films from the region, 5
years later, the 5th Middle East Now has been critically acclaimed
by international filmmakers, artists and journalists as a boutique
and extraordinary festival for highlighting new and emerging artists as well as older, treasured films from the region and for hosting innovative, vibrant and create debates, workshop and special
events for diverse audiences in Florence.
