results, and so here is
some advice on how to
pick your products.
C
osmetology is a science, and as such,
research keeps improving substances
for certain effects. With EC directive of
1993, which went into effect in Italy in
1997, it became mandatory to list the
ingredients on the packaging according
to a specific nomenclature: INCI (International Nomenclature Cosmetic Ingredients), which is common to all EU countries and different from American no-
menclature. When buying a products,
one of the first things to consider is the
order of the ingredients, because it depends on the percentage of the substance contained in the cosmetic product. It
is also very important to keep the part of
the packaging with the list of ingredients, where there might also be an indication of substances that might possibly provoke allergic reactions.

è giusta, se riusciamo a comprendere quale azione
hanno i componenti, possono anche darci risultati
sorprendenti ed è per questo che, con questa rubrica vi
insegneremo a sceglierli e ad usarli rivelando i loro

informarvi sulle sostanze che stendete sulla pelle.
L
a cosmetologia è una scienza e,
come tale, sempre di più la ricerca mette a punto sostanze finalizzate agli effetti per i quali sono destinati. Con le direttive CEE del ’93, recepite in Italia nel ’97, è stata resa
obbligatoria l’indicazione degli ingredienti sulla confezione che deve
attenersi ad una nomenclatura detta: INCI (International Nomenclature Cosmetic Ingredients) comune a
tutti i paesi della UE, ma diversa da
quella americana. Ma quando si acquista un cosmetico spesso non abbiamo gli strumenti per decifrare
quello strano linguaggio dove i derivati vegetali vengono riportati con
il nome botanico (il latino di Linneo), gli ingredienti chimici con il
nome inglese, i coloranti associati
ad un numero che fa riferimento a
sostanze catalogate e alla fine non

mancano terminologie tecniche e
simboli. Non si deve in particolare
trascurare l’ordine delle sostanze
poiché dipende dalla percentuale
degli elementi contenuti nel cosmetico, infatti l’acqua, che è l’ingrediente più abbondante, è quasi
sempre al primo. Spesso però non è
tanto la percentuale del componente che dà l’efficacia al prodotto, ma
l’insieme dei componenti e dei principi attivi. E’ molto importante infine conservare quella parte della
confezione o il foglietto in cui vengono elencate le sostanze contenute nel prodotto nel caso in cui si dovesse manifestare una reazione allergica o irritante potrebbe essere
individuata tra i componenti quella
allergizzante che dovrà essere in seguito, all’atto dell’acquisto di un cosmetico, individuata ed evitata.
