Plate 2a: Gross pathological deformity and flattening of the head of the
femur with dysplasia of the lesser trochanter. Etiology unknown.
b: Malunited angular fracture of the upper humerus with marked thickening
of the “lips” of the bicipital groove.
c: Malunited intertrochanteric femoral fracture with evidence of probabile
osteomyelitis.
d: Subcapital fracture of the femoral head showing avascular changes. Note
the flattened and tilted head.
e: Cystic lesion of the femoral head with a smooth sclerotic margin of its
cavity.
f: Typical mushroom deformity of head of femur indicating marked degen
erative changes probably a result of Perthe’s disease. Note the marked
porosity of the head.
g: Proximal ulna showing severe degenerative arthritic changes, indicated by
the bony fill-in of hypertrophic bone of the trochlear fossa and radial notch.
