Locality: Palmanova; Location: Duomo Dogale, Piazza Grande Category: Local interest; Date: From Monday 22 December 2014 to Friday 2 January 2015 Crib at the dome This year the dome is hosting the wonderful crib created by Franco Romano from the Associazione Italiana Amici del Presepio dedicated to the star­shaped city Palmanova. The nativity scene is located at one of the lunettes at the bastions. Among the other buildings in miniature, you can see a loggia, a casemate, then the main square of Palmanova with its buildings. The Nativity scene and most of the characters are made of "scus" (i.e. the dried leaves of the corn cob) The crib and its tricks of light and animations can be seen on the following times: Until January, 6th: daily opening 9.30 am ­ 12.30 pm / 3.30 pm ­ 6.30 pm ( visits interrupted during masses) From January, 7th until February, 2st: Saturdays 9.30 am ­ 12.30 pm / 3.30 pm ­ 6.30 pm Sundays 9.30 am ­ 12.30 pm / 3.30 pm ­ 6.30 pm Mondays 9:30 am ­ 12:00 pm (visits interrupted during masses ) Organized by: Franco Romano ­ Associazione Italiana Amici del Presepio Strumenti e macchine artificiose per costruire la fortezza di Palma
Locality: Palmanova; Location: Piazza Grande Category: Exhibition; Date: From Tuesday 17 June 2014 to Wednesday 31 December 2014 It will be possible admiring the beautiful reconstructions of the devices that were originally used to build the fortifications. The exhibition "Strumenti e macchine artificiose per costruire la fortezza di Palma" has been organized by the Comune of Palmanova in cooperation with Fondazione Crup, Pro Palma Association and Confartigianato Udine. The devices exhibited have been created by local craftsmen according to the plans by the military engineer Bonaiuto Lorini.
