Qualità e velocità
In mostra a San Giorgio Monferrato anche le soluzioni integrate ad alta velocità
di stampa roto, accoppiamento e taglio,
con l’impiego di un’accoppiatrice multifunzione Schiavi CL 660, testata nella
produzione di un laminato duplex con
adesivi solventless, e la taglierina di ultima generazione SR8 Titan con svolgitore integrale, alberi per coltelli e controcoltelli e sistema di frenatura pneumatico.
Sotto i riflettori, la rotativa RS 4004 HS dedicata alle produzioni più elevate: una
macchina con cambio carrelli semiautomatico, dotata di una struttura particolarmente robusta e di un rullo inchiostratore gommato, specificamente sviluppato
per garantire l’inchiostrazione uniforme
anche alle velocità più elevate.
La RS 4004 HS abbatte la quantità di inchiostro in circolazione, riducendo gli

multifunction coater-laminator,
tested in the production of a duplex
laminate with solventless
adhesives, and the SR8 Titan latest
generation slitter with incorporated
winder, stacked knife shafts and
pneumatic braking system.

change, with a particularly sturdy
costituendo un fattore particolarmente
critico nella stampa di ordini medio-lunghi, incidono sulla sua competitività.
Durante la dimostrazione, iniziata con un
soggetto a 7 colori, l’operatore ha preparato il nuovo testo, da sostituire a quello già in stampa, su un’unità fuori linea,
completa di carrello e con le relative posizioni di pre-registro. L’unità è stata quindi messa in linea senza fermare il lavoro e sincronizzando automaticamente il
registro prima di riprendere l’elevata velocità “di crociera”.
Senza fermi macchina è stato effettuato
anche il cambio colore su un’altra unità
off line, per mostrare la sequenza di prelavaggio del cilindro rotocalco, il cambio
carrello e il caricamento delle posizioni
del cilindro in pre-registro.
La precisione e la stabilità del controllo
di registro durante tutte le fasi della produzione, specialmente in accelerazione
e decelerazione, sono dovute al sistema, recentemente sviluppato da Rotomec, che integra la tecnologia dell’albero elettrico con il controllo di registro
Registron S 5100.
In questo dispositivo la funzione HDI
(High Dynamic Interface) effettua una
correzione 5 volte più rapida, generando una considerevole riduzione degli
scarti.
Vi si affianca un altro sviluppo Rotomec
che contribuisce a migliorare notevolmente i tempi di preparazione lavoro: la
funzione TAPS (Total Automatic Pre-register Setting), che utilizza unicamente
marche di registro e permette il richiamo automatico dei lavori.

During the demonstration, that
begun with a 7 color subject, the
operator prepared the new wording
to replace that being printed on an
offline unit complete with trolley and
with the relative pre-register
positioning. The unit was then
placed inline without stopping the
system, with automatic
synchronising of register before
returning to full production speed.
The color change was also carried
out on-the-fly on another offline unit
to show the prewashing sequence
of the gravure cylinder, the trolley
change and the cylinder loading
positions in pre-register.
The accuracy and stability of the
register control during all the
production phases, especially in
acceleration and deceleration are
due to the system recently
developed by Rotomec that
integrates the electrical shaft
technology with the Registron S
5100 register control. In this device
the HDI (High Dynamic Interface)
carries out a register correction that
is 5 times as fast, leading to
considerable waste reduction.
This is accompanied by another
Rotomec development that notably
contributes to improving makeready performance: the TAPS (Total
Automatic Pre-register Setting), that
purely uses register marks,
enabling automatic recall of job
recepes.

Roll Media Option, nuova opzione roll-to-roll per le stampanti flatbed Rho 205 e Rho 600. Il modulo è in grado di gestire rulli molto pesanti (fino a 200 kg), con diametro fino a 30 cm e larghezza del supporto fino a 200 cm, e permette di regolare l’allineamento della bobina
in fase di stampa.
PER ETICHETTE - Gallus AG (St. Gallen, CH), fornitore globale di sistemi per la stampa di etichette, ha messo a punto nuove opzioni e sviluppi per due delle sue macchine più
apprezzate. L'ultima versione della Gallus EM 280, ora
più versatile e produttiva, è infatti dotata di racle a camera, di un sistema di risparmio per l'hot foil, di un dispositivo di inserimento ologrammi e di servo drive che permettono maggiore flessibilità nella gestione dei supporti di
stampa. La Gallus EM 260/410/510 S è invece una macchina "ibrida", meccanica e servo assistita, caratterizzata dalla possibilità di trattare anche etichette sleeve e da

insieme a Sun Chemical per il mercato del
cartone ondulato.
nca Digital Printers è un’azienda da record. Nata a Cambridge nel 2000, oggi
impiega oltre 160 persone di cui un
quarto addetto alla R&S, fattura 25 milioni di sterline (2006) di cui il 26% investito nelle attività di ricerca, e la sua offerta è passata dalle 13 macchine degli inizi
alle circa 100 del 2006. Anche nell’anno
in corso il ritmo non sembra rallentare. Nel
calendario delle attività sono già previsti
numerosi nuovi lanci, fra cui figura una gigantesca macchina flatbed a passaggio

singolo concepita per il
mercato del cartone ondulato, di cui era già stato presentato un prototipo alla Drupa del 2004. Sun
Chemical, che ha lavorato al progetto insieme a Inca a partire dal 2002, la distribuirà attraverso i propri canali insieme agli
inchiostri UV Mitras appositamente sviluppati. Il cuore di FastJet è rappresentato dalla tecnologia single pass (singolo passaggio), in cui non è la testa inkjet
a muoversi avanti e indietro, bensì è il supporto a scorrere sotto le teste fisse, che
nella fattispecie sono ben 24. Per la precisione, ciascuna testa Spectra SL contiene 128 ugelli e 24 di queste teste sono
integrate in un cosiddetto modulo di stampa. Per stampare un colore sono posizionati in linea 4 moduli, che operano su
una larghezza di stampa di 1.040 mm;
poiché la macchina può stampare a cinque colori (CMYK+vernice), integra un
totale di 20 moduli a 300x200 dpi.
FastJet stampa a una velocità di 6.000
m2/h e viene proposta a un prezzo di circa 2,5 milioni di euro, comparabile dunque a quello di una macchina flessografica multicolore.

printing, developed along with Sun Chemical for the corrugated
cardboard market.
Inca Digital Printers is a record
breaking company. Set up in
Cambridge in the year 2000, today
it employs over 160 people, a
quarter of which working on R&D, it
has a turnover of 25 million pounds
(2006) 26% of which invested in
research activities, and its product
offer has gone from the 13
machines at the outset to the
around 100 machines of 2006. Its
rhythm doesn’t seem to have
slowed in the year at hand.

Sun Chemical, that worked on the

The heart of FastJet lies in the
single pass technology, where it is
not the inkjet head that moves
back and forth, but the substrate
that runs under the fixed heads,
that are as many as 24. We state
that each Spectra SL contains 128
nozzles and 24 of these heads are
integrated in a socalled print
module.
To print one color 4 modules are
positioned in line, that operate
over a print width of 1,040 mm;
considering that the machine can
print to five colors
(CMYK+varnish), it comprises 20
300x200 dpi modules.
FastJet prints at a speed of 6.000
m2/h and is offered at a price of
2,5 million Euro, comparable that
is to a multicolor flexographic

Sulla base di questa convinzione,
Inca ha messo a punto nel gennaio
del 2001 il primo sistema di stampa
piana (Eagle 44), dotato di testine
Xaar J500. Da allora si sono susseguiti senza sosta nuovi sviluppi per
le diverse applicazioni: nel 2002
escono Eagle H e Columbia, entrambi basati sull’utilizzo di teste
inkjet piezo dell’americana Spectra
(oggi Dimatrix); nel 2004 è la volta di
Columbia Turbo (160 m2/h) e Spyder
150 (con essiccazione a LED e inchiostri Sericol).
Infine, è del maggio 2005 il lancio di
Spyder 320 (3,2x1,6 m), seguita le
nuove versioni entry-level (Spyder
320-e) e 320+ (per stampare a 6 colori o con l’aggiunta del bianco), tutti proposti insieme a inchiostri Fujifilm Sericol.
E per il 2007? Un’ulteriore versione
della Spyder verrà lanciata in aprile
alla ISA di Las Vegas e poi riproposta in anteprima europea in giugno,
alla Fespa di Berlino.
Objective low runs
Inkjet flatbed is ideal for

for low runs. On the basis of this
conviction, in January 2001 Inca
devised the first flatbed system
(Eagle 44), with Xaar J500
heads.
New developments for the
various applications have
followed on from that: 2002 saw
the launch of Eagle H and
Columbia, both based on the
use of Spectra piezo inkjet head
(now Dimatrix); 2004 saw the
launch of Columbia Turbo (160
m2/h) and Spyder 150 (with
Sericol LED drying and inks).
Lastly, 2005 saw the launch of
Spyder 320 (3,2x1,6 m), followed
by the new entry-level versions
(Spyder 320-e) and 320+ (for 6
color printing or for adding
white), all offered along with
Fujifilm Sericol inks.
And for 2007?
A further version of the Spyder
will be launched at the ISA at
Las Vegas, and then given its
European preview in June at the
Berlin Fespa show.

Banda stretta internazionale
■ Le macchine di Gidue (sistemi per la stampa narrow web) girano il mondo: dal 2 al 5 aprile l'azienda di Turate (CO) presenterà al Gulf Print di Dubai
(UAE) la propria offerta, tra cui spiccano i modelli Quadra™, Combat™,
Athena™ e Xpannd™ per la realizzazione di processi di stampa plurimi
in una varietà di formati e configurazioni. E mentre prosegue la diffusione
delle macchine Gidue in Europa (in Spagna, per esempio, il numero di sistemi installati è passato da 1 a 16 in soli 4 anni) anche l'Estremo Oriente
dimostra di essere un mercato particolarmente ricettivo. È recente l'annuncio di una nuova commessa Gidue (la sesta) in India. Si tratta di una ECombat 370 a 8 colori con lampade UV di IST, destinata alla produzione
di etichette autoadesive presso Interlabels
Industries Ltd. di Mumbai. Attivo sin dal
1983, Interlabels è uno dei più importanti
etichettifici del subcontinente, con un'intensa attività anche nell'ambito dei sistemi
per barcode e degli applicatori di etichette
(questi ultimi prodotti in partnership con
l’azienda italiana Arca).
Digitale senza inchiostro
■ Trasformare qualsiasi tipo di strumento in una stampante, mettendo su carta immagini di alta qualità "on the go", senza inchiostro
e senza ricadute sull'ambiente: è ciò che promette l'innovativo sistema messo a punto da Zink Imaging (Massachusetts, USA) e presentato in occasione di Demo 07 (Palm Desert, CA, 30/1-1/2), vetrina californiana delle nuove tecnologie. L'azienda è infatti riuscita a
realizzare una macchina in grado di stampare immagini digitali senza una sola goccia di inchiostro. Come? Il segreto è nella carta,
sviluppata ad hoc da Zink e coperta da più di 100 brevetti: lo speciale
supporto incorpora dei cristalli coloranti che, "attivati" dal calore
emesso dalla stampante Zink, fanno emergere sul foglio bianco immagini nitide, brillanti e durevoli. Il dispositivo di stampa, di dimensioni tascabili, può essere collegato a qualsiasi fotocamera digitale o cellulare, permettendo la stampa immediata di foto e immagini.
International narrow web
Gidue’s machines (narrow web print system) travel around the world: from
2nd to 5th April the Turate (CO) based concern will be presenting its range at
the Dubai (UAE) Gulf Print. The range features the models Quadra™,
Combat™, Athena™ and Xpannd™ for the execution of multi print processes
in a variety of formats and configurations. And while Gidue’s machines
continue to spread across Europe (in Spain for example, the number of
installed system has gone from 1 to 16 in only 4 years) the Far East is seen to
be a particularly receptive market. Gidue also recently announced another
contract (the sixth) in India. This concerns an 8 color E-Combat 370 with UV
lamp by IST, for the production of pressure sensitive labels at Interlabels
Industries Ltd, Mumbai. Active since 1983, Interlabels is one of the most
important labeling works in the subcontinent, also with an intense activity in
the field of barcode systems and label applicators (the latter produced in
partnership with the Italian concern Arca).
Digital without ink
Turn any type of tool into a printer, setting high quality images down on paper
“on the go”, without ink and without affecting the environment: this is what is
promised by the innovatory system devised by Zink Imaging (Massachusetts,
USA) and presented in occasion of Demo 07 (Palm Desert, CA, 30/1-1/2),
Californian showcase for new technologies. The company has in fact
managed to create a machine capable of printing digital images without a
single drop of ink. How? The secret is in the paper, specially developed by
Zink and covered by more than 100 patents: the special substrate
incorporates color crystals that, once “activated” by the heat emitted by the
Zink printer, make clear, bright and durable images appear on the white
sheet. The print device, pocket sized, can be connected to any digital
camera or cell phone, enabling the immediate printing of photos or images.

Print and cutting peripherals
At Medprint Roland DG Mid Europe will be presenting the
print peripherals VersaCamm and PROIII XC-540 models;
the SP-300V and SP-540V VersaCamm, respectively 76
and 134 cm, enable the printing and edging of stickers
and labels using a single peripheral device, while the XC540 (large format printers with incorporated cutting unit)
enables attainment of a max production of 40 sq m/h. At
the Rome venue the SJ-645EX systems will also be on
show, featuring a print area of 160 cm and ideal for the
creation of banners and posters and SJ-745EX, with print
area of 188 cm. Alongside these models visitors will be
able to become acquainted with the SJ-1045IS print
machine (260 cm print area) and AJ-1000 Advanced Jet
printers, capable or reaching a max speed of 90 sq m/h.
Lastly, in a special demonstration corner on show the
METAZA MPX-70, compact and silent printer that enables
image transfer on metals and acrylic materials for
personalised objects of jewellery, cups, prizes, keyrings,
lighters, plaques and a lot more.

For Technomedia, based at Pomezia in the province of
Rome, distributor of important brands in the small and
large format digital print sector, Rome Medprint is a home
game, where the concern will be presenting some of its
most appreciated solutions, from Durst Phototechnic SpA
UV flatbed technology to Roland DG Mid Europe’s
ecosolvents, from Duplo finishing equipment to the C6500
small format digital prints systems of its new partner
Konica Minolta (photo), for whom Technomedia is

«Cinque anni fa - racconta il presidente
Luciano Venturi - abbiamo installato nuove macchine per la stampa offset e seri-

grafica di etichette autoadesive, visto che
il mercato, soprattutto quello del vino, si
stava muovendo in quella direzione.
L’anno successivo, invece, per poter
stampare anche su supporti plastici, abbiamo acquistato la rotativa offset Müller
Martini A74. Ma dopo aver constatato che
il nostro panorama di riferimento stava
cambiando ulteriormente, soprattutto in
relazione alla progressiva domanda di
etichette di plastica, non siamo certo rimasti a guardare e abbiamo adeguato
le nostre capacità produttive; dovevamo
infatti riuscire a essere ancora più competitivi in termini di prezzi, velocità di stampa, flessibilità nel cambio formato e tempi di consegna.
Ecco perchè, quando abbiamo verificato
che Müller Martini aveva messo a punto
una roto-offset a formato variabile, in grado di cambiare rapidamente commessa
e al contempo offrire velocità maggiori, brevi tempi di avviamento macchina e migliore
finitura del prodotto (grazie alle stazioni di
taglio e recupero sfridi), abbiamo intravisto immediatamente l’opportunità di potenziare la nostra offerta e recuperare quote di mercato».

«Five years back - president
Luciano Venturi tells us - we
installed new machines for offset
and screenprint of pressure
sensitive labels, given that the
market, aboveall the wine market,
was moving in that direction. The
year following in turn, to be able to

The Verona based concern (that in

processes to embellish the materials
including relief, lamina gilding,
burnishing, inline and off machine
lacquering - and thanks to the buy-up
of Rotoseven in 2002 - the concern can
offer pressure sensitive labels, made
with offset print, screenprint and
typographical print technologies.
All the processing phases, from the
graphic concept to the final product,
are carried out inhouse (in the preprint,
assembly, print, lacquering, cutting,
blank preparation and packaging

UNA CONFIGURAZIONE AD HOC PER LA ALPRINTA 74V
«La Alprinta 74V a formati variabili - spiega Andrea Pirola, sales manager
Müller Martini - è una macchina da bobina a bobina ad 8 colori (di cui 6
offset e 2 flexo), predisposta per operare con trattamento corona.
Configurata per la stampa sia di carta che di film plastici, è dotata di
stazione di taglio longitudinale ed è caratterizzata da essiccamento UV
e forni ad aria calda (per le due unità flexo). Funziona con sistemi di controllo registro automatico, controllo inchiostrazione automatico e barra
di inversione per la stampa in bianca e volta in un unico passaggio».
AN AD HOC CONFIGURATION FOR ALPRINTA 74V
«Alprinta variable format 74V - Müller Martini sales manager Andrea Pirola explains - is an 8
color reel-to-reel machine (of which 6 offset and 2 flexo), set for operating with corona
treatment. Configured for the print of both paper and plastic film, it is fitted with a longitudinal
cutting station and features hot air UV drying ovens (for the two flexo units). It works with
automatic register control systems, automatic inking control and turnaround bar for front and
reverse side printing in one single run».
La seconda offset rotativa
«L’esperienza maturata nell’ambito della tecnologia offset e la fiducia in Müller
Martini, che in questi anni si è dimostrato un partner affidabile e disponibile, ha
guidato la nostra decisione. Si è trattato
di una scelta “quasi obbligata” - continua Venturi - anche in virtù di alcune considerazioni di ordine generale: anni fa,
infatti, le tirature erano più alte, per intenderci dell’ordine di circa 15-20 milioni di etichette per acqua minerale o latte; oggi, invece, a seguito delle sempre
più numerose campagne promozionali,
le varianti grafiche si sono moltiplicate e,
di conseguenza, i lotti di produzione si
sono ridotti».
La tecnologia offset, in questo caso, può
offrire interessanti opportunità.

micron) e sleeve di PVC, PET e OPS (da
45, 50 e 60 micron), un’offerta ora completa che offrirà all’azienda nuove opportunità di crescita e sviluppo.

8 COLORI ALLO STATO DELL’ARTE - Flexotecnica (Tavazzano, LO) ha consegnato a
Wipak UK (imballaggi flessibili stampati per alimenti deperibili) la 8NG, macchina da
stampa 8 colori. Questa macchina comprende due unità flessografiche downstream
che applicano vernici, lacche e rivestimenti sul recto e sul verso del film, per la decorazione in continuo o a registro.NG di Flexotecnica è una macchina da stampa sleeve gearless di nuova generazione, caratterizzata da un’ampiezza di stampa pari a 1.300
mm, e ripetizioni da 370 a 900 mm. Il tutto, coniugando alte prestazioni e grande stabilità. Oltre che per il sistema servo drive gearless, la NG si distingue per il cambio molto rapido delle sleeve di stampa e anilox, facilitato peraltro da espulsori automatici, e
dal sistema automatico di pulizia Speedy Clean; il controllo preciso della viscosità è
garantito dal sistema computerizzato Viscolor 2200. Il monitoraggio costante di colore e registro avviene mediante video camera grazie al sistema Eltromat Meshcon_3,
che assicura sia una qualità di stampa ultra-accurata, sia una messa a registro rapidissima fra C.I. e unità a valle, durante la produzione, con scarti minimi. Le velocità
operative raggiungono i 400 m/min.
Digital helps
Ro.Ma (Lissone, MI) has developed a broad range of pressure
sensitive and non adhesive, safety and multipage labels,
printed using various enhancement techniques, in four color
process and Pantone colors. In the wake of growing demand
for low runs (from 2000 to 3000 copies) expressed by the
market, the Lombard concern has broadened its range of
machines with a HP Indigo ws 4050 press. As Ro.Ma. head
Marco Rossi explains - «HP digital print technology has
enabled us to optimise production times, while giving an
optimum print quality, also with Pantone or special colors».
As well as that, thanks to Kaleidoscope software for color
administration (part of the workflow solution proposed by Esko
for Indigo machines), the operator can prepare the file and
send it to any flexographic or digital print machine, without
having to replace or correct the same.
State-of-the-art 8 color
Flexotecnica (Tavazzano, LO) has delivered to Wipak UK
(printed film packaging for the perishable food sector) the
8NG 8 colour plus 2 downstream units. The NG chosen by
Wipak has 8 colours around the drum and two flexo
downstream units to apply continuous or in register patterned
varnish, lacquers or coatings to either front or reverse
surfaces. This NG is a new generation sleeve gearless press
which features a printing width of 1,300mm and printing
repeats from 370 up to 900 mm designed to achieve high
printing performance with great stability. The press operates
with a gearless drive servo system, is fitted with the tool-free
quick change of printing and anilox sleeves eased by
pneumatic ejectors and includes an automatic wash-up
system, Speedy Clean, with computer-aided viscosity controls
Viscolor 2200. Colour monitoring and register is controlled via
the latest Eltromat Meshcon_3 video camera/register system
which ensures ultra-accurate printing and quick registration
between C.I. and downstream units during production with
minimal waste. Running speeds: up to 400m/min.
