PRESIDENT’S WELCOME
SALUDO DEL PRESIDENTE
Along with the Summer Tour in South Africa and Argentina,
the track record of Nick Mallett goes on as the leader of the
Italian National Team, featuring the success in the Six
Nations by winning against Scotland and the excellent performances which, during the tournament, have proved the
constant growth of our Italian team.
It has been a year that witnessed the brave choice, made
by our South African head coach, to pave the way to a band
of young new entries who did not betray the expectations.
In occasion of this event Mallett, facing an unlucky chain
of injured players, displayed a list that includes interesting
novelties, rightful confirms and happy comebacks.
The calendar that awaits Italy is, definitely, uphill and full of pitfalls. In matter of fact,
the debut that our National Team shall have to face in Cape Town is none other than
against the Springboks, champions of the world, while in the bonny city of Cordoba, a
city that arouses the historical victory of three years ago against the Pumas, the schedule expects us to challenge Argentina, classified third and true revelation of the sixth
edition of this worldwide tournament.
However it is facing the objective difficulties of this demanding tournament that a team
shows its personality and to stand out its strong outlook. Two challenging tests which
will try out the National Italian Team, but that at the same time shall allow Mallett to
draw useful indications concerning the future of the team.
Two weeks of profitable experience that will enable them to put on trial new power
and new elements, and to which will be offered the precious opportunity to demonstrate that they deserve it.
Having nothing to loose and being relieved from dangerous psychological pressures,
the Italian Team gives life to a winning and evolving lineup, it has the chance to play
free from any conditioning and to express itself at best.
So welcome to this difficult and forbidding “summer tour”. We hope that such a challenging adventure will grant us to admire a growing National Italian Team. Furthermore
we hope it represents a new step forward towards greater ambitious and beaming goals.
Winning posts worthy of a beloved movement, respected and in continuous expansion.
