1. Websites
A good place to start is the website of the University of Dayton's Marian Research Institute :
http://campus.udayton.edu/mary/aboutmary2.html .
It contains a vast amount of information on, resp. links to information sources about:
- magisterial documents
- bibliographies
- book reviews
- Marian organizations
- Marian publications and newsletters
- Marian websites
- specific Marian themes
Another starting point is MaryLinks, an organized collection of links about the Virgin Mary :
http://www.marylinks.org/ . “ All of the linked sites have been selected for inclusion because of high
quality content.”
2. Bibliographies
Important bibliographies are :
- Bibliografia Mariana, published by the (Pontificia Facoltà Teologica) Marianum in Rome.
Vol. 1-8 (1948-50, …,1985-1989) ed. by Giuseppe M. Besutti in 1952-93, vol. 9 (1990-93)
ed. by Ermanno M. Toniolo in 1998, vol. 10-12 (1994-98, 1999-2002, 2003-05) ed. by
Silvano M. Danieli in 2005-08.1
The years 1948-1993 have been published on CD-ROM by the Libreria Editrice Vaticana.
- A survey of recent Mariology, published by Eamon R. Carroll in Marian studies since 1967.

4. Articles, indexes, abstracts
Interesting articles can be identified via the bibliographies and journals mentioned in § 2-3.
More and more recent articles (in journals and other publications) can be found via bibliographic
databases containing not only citations, but often also abstracts and even full-text.
If the full text of an article is not available in the database you are currently searching, check the
catalogue of your library to determine whether the journal (paper version) is available in the library or
the electronic version is accessible in another database. If the article isn't available, ask the interlibrary
loan desk to request a paper or PDF copy of the article from another library.
Theological Journals Search (via Google)
Search this website a.o. for articles from over 340 religion journals related to scripture studies,
systematic theology, practical ministries, and cognate disciplines for which full text is freely available
on the internet.2
This search engine is intended to serve as a supplement to rather than a replacement for the purchased
/ leased periodical indexes and full text journal databases that university and seminary libraries
normally make accessible to their constituents, e.g. :
ATLA Religion Database : the premier index to journal articles, book reviews, and collections of
essays in all fields of religion, compiled by the American Theological Library Association; combines
ATLA's three primary indexes 3; accessible through several online vendors (EBSCO, …); provides
citations and some full text articles (1949-present).
Other useful religion-related and interdisciplinary databases are mentioned in guides like
2
Among the searchable e-journals are many of those listed in major religion internet directories and e-journal
sites (e.g. http://www.atla.com/international_collab/ejournals.pdf ).

Religion Index One: Periodicals; Religion Index Two: Multi-Author Works; Index to Book Reviews in Religion.
