Durante la riunione si è deciso di creare un apposito Trader Working Group che tenga in considerazione la esigenze di tutte le parti interessate, tra cui commercianti, concerie, brand e... consumatore APLF is over and brings to an end a fair season that was marked by thoughts, concerns and a kind of discontent of all those exhibitors who were looking forward to this fair that took place on the end of March. This year, the Hong Kong appointment, usually a crucial event to understand market situation and to forecast what will come next, was not a turning point. In addition to the comeback of French exhibitors, the lack of demand, the steady calm and the absence of Chinese visitors have characterized this fair. In China, tanneries are experiencing a very though momenconsumer spending drop: those factors affect furniture, leather goods and footwear market that suffer a sharp slowdown. However, in spite of those cautions, many players of Chinese market expect huge losses until June. In Europe, work is mildly progressing, except for automotive that is standing out more and more as the driving sector. European hides in euro remain almost stable, while American hides in dollar are experiencing a sharp decrease, though American slaughtering recorded the lowest level since 1951. Since the fair, that is considered the “market barometer”, is over, we just have to think whether the decreasing trend, showed in Hong Kong, will affect the whole market. We don’t rule out that large companies will reshore their productions in Europe, but it mustn’t taken for granted that Europe will be able to face such challenge. On the other hand, this issue provides a special report on the Hong Kong fair that includes the ICHSLTA cocktail, that has launched APLF; the points of view of organizers, exhibitors and buyers on the fair and focus about France, the Focus Country of APLF 2015 , as well as another one about Brazil.
