International Challenge “VISCONTEA 2013

teams in a mountain territory that will take place in Valbrona (CO) on the 24th, 25th and 26th May 2013.

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF MILITARY PATROL
Conforming the duties provided the Provincial Section of A.N.Art.I. of Milan, our
association organize in the area called “Triangolo Lariano”, an international competition of
military patrol in the mountains called “Viscontea”, now in its 28th edition.
The competition consists of three days, from Friday May 24th 2013 to Sunday May 26th
2013.
With the organisation also collaborate the Military Command of Army of Lombardy,
ANGET section of Milan, the section UNUCI of Gallarate, the Red Cross volunteer nurses
of Como, the Military Corps of the Italian Red Cross, sections of the Civil Defence of Milan
and the Municipality of Valbrona.
OUTLINE OF THE EXERCISE
1)Target The purposes of the competition can be summed up in two points:
• Check the level of physical training and technical staff of the reserve
• Make it strong the bonds between the staff active and reserve, is the Italian armed
forces of both countries allies, friends and neighbors.
2)Theme
A terrorist has escaped from prison and headed into the bush, with the intention of forming
a new group of terrorists and newcomers. The team is in charge of looking for him,
immobilize and disarm him, then inform the command that will do this again imprisoned.
3)Type
Tutorial operational evaluation, in white, on the ground, with simulated enemy. Expected
duration of 8 hours for a distance of about 20/22 kms, Rough terrain and with a total climb
of 1000 meters.
4)Tests Teams will be subjected to the following tests:
1. Infiltration and exfiltration;
2. Inspection equipment;
3. Crossing of a watercourse;
4. Quiz technical recognition;
5. Topography;
6. Overcoming of natural and artificial obstacles;
7. Attack and destruction of terrorist targets;
8. Rifle and pistol shooting;
9. First aid;
10. Forced march;
The listed tests are only indicative and may be modified at the discretion of the Drill
Direction.

6)Area Larian Triangle north of Lake Segrino center of gravity Valbrona (CO).
7)Participants Patrols participants will be composed of three elements, one of which is
preferably Officer or NCO. Will be part of the military on active duty or on leave, or
belonging to UNUCI or similar Associations, Training Day.
Participation is limited to 40 teams.

b) The entry fee is 90,00 € each team and includes:
- equipment provided by the organization
- insurance
- cohesion dinner on Saturday evening
- souvenir of the event
Accompanying persons pay €20,00 per person.
9)Logistics
a. The organization will provide, upon request, in accommodation provision (subject to
availability): individual cost € 20,00 which includes 2 nights accommodation, toilets and
storage of personal effects, but it is necessary to bring a sleeping bag, mattress and cot.
b. There is the possibility of staying in hotel near Valbrona (CO) and everyone will have
to make direct booking.
c. There is no transport to hotels and/or places of race that can be located several km
by the Drill Direction.

07,00 p.m. Flag-hoisting ceremony at the front of the Municipality of Valbrona (CO)
09,15 p.m. Briefing to the team-leaders and delivery starting order in the Hall of the
Municipality of Valbrona (CO)
Saturday, May 25th
06,20 a.m. Departure of the teams from the Tent of Valbrona (CO)
06.30 p.m. End of the expected competition
08.15 p.m. National Anthems of the nations present – dinner and social evening

Field Uniform. No weapons are allowed.

RULES
TEAM COMPOSITION
Teams are composed of 3 members. No substitution is allowed during the competition.
100 points penalty is given to teams losing a member during the test. A team ending the
competition with only one member is considered as withdrawn.
EQUIPMENT
Each team shall be provided with the following items:
mountain bag in use by the national armed forces or of civil use having shape and colour
of military type, compass, coordinate-meter, utility knife, pocket lamp, pen and notebook,
binoculars, protractor.
Each team member shall be provided with the following items: canteen, rainwear.
A penalty will be applied in case of lack of an item or more.
IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
The leader of the team must wear the id number till the end of the competition. The
number must be read with no problem. If the id number is lost or concealed a 300 points
penalty will be given to the team.
LANGUAGES
Instructions, orders and tests sheets are in English, French The Italian text is the official
one; no information given by the referees or other people is a valid proof in case of claim.
WEATHER
The competition will take place in all weathers.
CLAIMS
Claims must be addressed by writing to the Direction of the competition by giving a money
caution of €. 25,00 . Such amount will be paid back the same day if the claim is accepted.
Claims will be examined by the jury at the end of the competition.
TESTS ORGANIZATION
The Organization Committee may change, if necessary, the itinerary, the schedule and the
type of tests. The team members of whatever rank must follow the directives of the
competition referees.
MEDICAL RESPONSIBILITY
Each participant must be aware of his own level of training and physical condition. Medical
exams cannot be carried out before the competition. Each test director has the
indisputable right to stop an injured competitor for security reasons at least till the arrival of
a doctor who will certify the possibility for the injured to go on with the competition.
ORGANIZATION RESPONSIBILITY
The Organization committee denies any responsibility for damages to people or things that
might happen during the competition.
TEST ASSESSMENT
The whole team must overcome the tests. The timing is taken from the start till the end of
the competition. The waiting times between the arrival and the starting of the test are not
calculated. In case of parity, the race time will set out the winner. The competition jury has
the indisputable right to give a 200 points penalty for having skipped a check point or used
forbidden apparatus (radios, calculators, manuals, cellulars). The time limit, including the
stops at the check points, for the completion of the test is of 6 hours after the departure of
the last team. Behind this time limit the teams, still competing, will be stopped at the further
check point. Anyway, for security reasons the competition will be stopped at 7.00
p.m.
