The title of the show “A CUP FUL SKUL” – anagram of our stage name – demonstrates the fact that
we have been invited as a delegation of representatives of today’s curating collectives. As we couldn’t
do it at the Istituto svizzero the same way as we did in the past, meaning being at home and working
with a solo artist or a small group of friends, we present here a scrambled version of F|P.
This exhibition brings together young artists, curators and critics coming from all parts of Switzerland.
One work by each artist has been chosen based on the idea of presenting the current topics that are
shaping the artistic landscape. Works on view include sculptural gestures, musical video, manipulated
images, performative lecture and space-conscious installations.
After we contacted the artists we noticed that almost all of them are or have been involved in collective-curatorial projects in addition to their own artistic practice. These curated projects have become
their own type of artistic medium - which in return inspire the individual works by enabling an
energetic creation of exchanges. More than being an issue of alternative versus establishment, these
parallel activities depict a generalized tendency of willingness to be part of the big stage (which we at
F|P admittedly perpetrate too).
Though the works on view all have their individual voices, together they create a melody reflecting
their way of thinking in the present. The 00’s are now history and we are dealing with collapsing
capitalism, entering the post-internet era, neo-esoterism is replacing comfort food, in a world that is
falling apart. Back to tragedy!* Still, adaptation seems to be an option.
