Bass-bariton Luciano Di Pasquale is greatly appreciated by audiences
and critics for his comic flair and great talent as an actor.
After studying with Marina Gentile, Elio Battaglia and Regina Resnik, he
has started a brilliant career after winning a scholarship from the ‘Viñas’
International Competition in Barcelona in 1992 and obtaining the first
prize at the ‘Toti dal Monte’ competition in Treviso in 1996.
Highlights of the most successful roles he has interpreted are: Belcore
and Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore; Bartolo and Figaro in Il Barbiere di
Siviglia; Masetto and Leporello in Don Giovanni; Bartolo in Le nozze di
Figaro; Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte; Gaudenzio in Il Signor
Bruschino; Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola; Don Profondo in Il
viaggio a Reims; and the title role in Don Pasquale.
His discography includes: DVD of La Cenerentola for Opus Arte
(Glyndebourne Opera, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski); Paisiello’s Il
Barbiere di Siviglia for Dynamic; Paisiello’s Lo Sposo Burlato and
Cimarosa’s Il Marito Disperato for Bongiovanni; Spontini’s L’Eroismo
Ridicolo for Arcadia; and Perosi’s Requiem for I Capolavori della
Musica Sacra.
In Italy, he has appered at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro
dell’Opera in Rome, Maggio Musicale in Florence, Teatro Verdi in
Trieste, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro
Comunale in Bologna, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Bellini in Catania.
Internationally, he is also known by the audiences in Toulouse, Avignon,
Lion, Bordeaux, Nice, Paris (Opéra Garnier), Moscow, Lausanne,
Brussels, Graz and Edinburgh. He has also performed at the
Glyndebourne Opera Festival and the Wexford Opera Festival.
Luciano regularly collaborates with such conductors as Zubin Mehta,
Bruno Campanella, Peter Maag, Vladimir Jurowski, Donato Renzetti,
Rinaldo Alessandrini, Ottavio Dantone, Gianluigi Gelmetti and Alberto
Zedda, to name but a few.
His recent and future plans include: Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Rouen,
Barcelona, Valladolid, St.Petersburg, Bordeaux and Tokyo; Le nozze di
Figaro in Toulon, Rouen, Glyndebourne and Versailles; Il Turco in Italia
in Hamburg; L’Italiana in Algeri (Mustafà) in Lausanne and Bordeaux;
Tosca at the Opéra National de Paris, La Cenerentola in Munich and La
cena delle beffe at Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
