The Reader features a built-in Hi-Speed USB 2.0 3-Port Hub. It enables
you to connect USB devices with a critical advantage over traditional USB
2.0 hubs. That is its implementation of the new “Quad TT” architecture,
which enables each of the Hub’s three downstream ports to deliver a full
12Mbps of USB bandwidth for low- and full-speed devices, while providing
total support for Hi-Speed USB 2.0 devices. This is especially important
when connecting multiple, bandwidth-intensive, full-speed devices such as
USB webcams, speakers, scanners, and external storage devices.

Media Insertion
To prevent damage to your Reader and/or media card, be sure to insert
the media card correctly into the Reader. See the drawings below that
illustrate the proper orientation for insertion of your media card.

Important Note: The Reader uses a combination slot designed to
accommodate both XD Picture Card and SmartMedia card formats.
Only a single card may be plugged into the combination slot at any time.

Insert the Belkin Driver Installation CD.
a)
After a few moments, the setup application will appear on
your computer screen.
b)
If the setup application does not appear, double-click “My
Computer”, and then click on your CD-ROM drive icon. This
will load the setup application’s main page.

Click the “Install Driver” button.

The “InstallShield Wizard” will now start. Click “Next” on each of the
screens that are displayed, and then click “Finish”. Now, restart your
computer to complete the driver installation process.

Important Operating System Notes:
a)
Windows Me and XP offer native support for mass-storage devices.
It is not necessary to install the Belkin driver in order to use the
Reader. However, if you wish to take advantage of the custom drive
icons, the driver must be installed.
b)
Windows 2000 also offers native support for mass-storage devices,
but in versions prior to Service Pack 3, does not support “multiLUN” devices. If the Belkin driver is not installed in Windows 2000
versions prior to Service Pack 3, only the CompactFlash slot will be
available. Furthermore, if you wish to take advantage of the custom
drive icons, the driver must be installed.
c)
Windows 98 SE does not support mass-storage devices; therefore,
the Belkin driver must always be installed.

Hardware Installation

Important Note: Please do not connect any USB devices to the Hub’s
ports until the installation process has been completed.

Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet or surge suppressor. Plug
the DC connector into the DC power jack found on the rear of the
Reader.
Note: The hub may be used without the power supply with
most USB devices.

Plug the flat end (USB-A connector) of the provided USB device
cable into the downstream port of your computer, or downstream
port of another hub. Plug the small end (USB-B mini-B connector)
into the USB-B mini-B connector on the back of the Reader.
Important Note: The Reader must be connected to a USB 2.0-compliant
host in order to function in Hi-Speed mode (480Mbps data rate). If the Hub
is connected to a USB 1.1-compliant host, it will operate only in low-speed
or full-speed mode (1.5Mbps/12Mbps).

Windows will now detect your Hub and the “Hardware Installation
Wizard” will start. Please use all of the default settings provided
by the “Hardware Installation Wizard” to complete the hardware
installation procedure. Simply click “Next” at the bottom of each of
the installation screens, and then click “Finish” to complete the Hub
installation process. Under windows XP the drivers will be installed
automatically.

Note: The Windows “Install New Hardware Wizard” may prompt you to
provide your Windows Installation CD to complete the driver installation
process.
Important Note: Hi-Speed hub drivers are included with most USB 2.0
PCI upgrade cards, and are pre-installed along with the PCI card drivers.
Please check with your PCI card manufacturer for the most recent USB 2.0
driver.

After installation of the Hub is completed, the Reader’s ports will be
installed. No further user input is required.

The Reader will be recognized as four individual removable disk
drives. To access the new drive(s), click the “My Computer”
icon found on your Windows desktop display. When the “My
Computer” window opens, you will see a customized disk drive icon
representing each of the four slots. (See the “Operating System
Notes” section regarding custom icon support.)

Connecting USB Devices to the Hub

Plug the USB-A connector of the USB device(s) you wish to connect
into any of the Hub’s available downstream ports.

Follow the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer of
the device.

Important Note: When moving a device from one port on the Hub to
another, it may be necessary to reinstall the USB drivers for that device.
Safe Removal of Media Cards and Readers
All versions of Windows

Do not remove your media card from the Reader while data is being
read or written to the card. Doing so could corrupt the media card
resulting in a loss of data. The correct way to remove the card
is to double-click on “My Computer”, and then right-click on the
drive and select “Eject” from the list. Depending on your operating
system, this feature may not prompt you that the “Eject” was done.
However, after clicking on “Eject”, you can remove the card without
corrupting the files on the card.

To safely remove a Reader from your computer, click on the “Unplug
or Eject Hardware” icon found in the right-hand corner of the
Windows task bar. Failure to follow this step could result in the loss
or corruption of data stored on your media card.

To uninstall the Reader’s driver, click the “Start” button, select
“Settings”, select “Control Panel”, and then select “Add/Remove
Programs”. Choose “Belkin Media Reader Driver and Icon”, and then
click “Remove”.

Note: This procedure is only necessary if the Belkin
driver has been installed.

You may also perform the uninstall from Windows Device Manager.
(To uninstall from Windows Device Manager, the Reader must be
plugged into your computer.) Right-click on “My Computer”, then
select “Properties”, then “Device Manager”. Click on the (+) sign
next to “Disk Drives”. Select the Reader from the list of drives, and
then click on “Remove”. Now unplug the Reader from the USB port
on your computer or hub.

Double-click the “F5U271 Installer CD” CD-ROM drive icon that
appears on your desktop. Then, click on “Belkin installer 1.7”.

Connect the Reader’s USB plug to an available USB port on your
Mac® computer, or USB hub, and insert your media card.

Once a media card is inserted, it will appear on your desktop as
a standard Mac OS disk drive. A custom drive icon will appear for
each slot according to the media type. The drive icon will appear
only when a media card is inserted into its slot.
Mac OS X v10.1.2 and above
1.
Mac OS X v10.1.2 and above offers native support for mass-storage
devices. To install the Reader, simply plug it into an available USB
port on your Mac computer or USB hub. No further user intervention
is required.
Note: Support for Hi-Speed 2.0 mode (480Mbps) is limited to Mac OS X
v10.2.8 and above. If the Reader is used with a version of Mac OS X prior
to X v10.2.8, it will be fully functional, but will operate only in full-speed
mode (12Mbps).

Accessing Files and Data

To move files to and from the disk, simply drag the file to the
alternate location or use other file transfer methods that are
standard in your computer’s operating system.
Safe Removal of Digital Flash Media Cards

Mac OS offers two methods of safely removing media cards from
your Reader.
a)
Click on the Reader’s drive icon, and then choose “Special”
from the command bar on the top of your computer screen.
Select “Eject” from the drop-down list.

b)

Click on the Reader’s drive icon and drag the icon to the Mac
OS trash can.

The Reader utilizes mass-storage drivers that are included in Mac OS

Insérez le CD d’installation des pilotes de Belkin.

a) Après quelques instants, le programme d’installation apparaît à
l’écran.

b) S’il n’apparaît pas, cliquez deux fois sur « My Computer [Poste de
travail] », puis cliquez sur l’icône du lecteur de CD-ROM. La page
principale du programme d’installation apparaît.

Cliquez sur le bouton « Install Driver [Installer le pilote] ».

L’assistant InstallShield apparaît. Cliquez sur « Next [Suivant] »
sur chaque écran qui s’affiche, puis cliquez sur « Finish [Terminer]

pilote se doit d’être installé.
b)
Windows 2000 offre lui aussi une prise en charge d’origine des
dispositifs de stockage de masse, mais dans le cas des versions
antérieures au Service Pack 3, il n’y a pas de prise en charge « multiLUN ». Si le pilote Belkin n’est pas installé sous Windows 2000 (version
antérieure au Service Pack 3), le seul emplacement disponible sera le
CompactFlash. De plus, si vous désirez profiter des avantages liés aux
icônes personnalisées, le pilote se doit d’être installé.
c)
Windows 98 SE ne prend pas en charge les dispositifs de stockage
de masse. Ainsi, le pilote Belkin se doit d’être installé.

Branchez l’adaptateur de courant sur une prise murale ou sur un
parafoudre. Branchez la fiche CC sur la prise d’alimentation CC à
l’arrière du Lecteur.
Remarque : Le Hub peut s’utiliser sans bloc d’alimentation avec la
plupart des périphériques USB.

Branchez le connecteur plat A du câble USB fourni sur le port
en voie descendante de votre ordinateur ou sur le port en voie
descendante d’un autre hub. Branchez le petit connecteur mini-B du
câble USB dans le port USB mini-B à l’arrière du Lecteur.
Remarque Importante : Le Lecteur doit être connecté à un hôte
compatible USB 2.0 pour fonctionner en Mode à Haut Débit (480 Mbps).
S’il est connecté à un hôte compatible USB 1.1, il fonctionnera en mode à
bas ou plein débit (1,5/12 Mbps).

Windows détecte la présence de votre Hub et l’Assistant Installation
de nouveau matériel démarre. Veuillez utiliser les paramètres
par défaut fournis par l’Assistant afin de terminer l’installation
matérielle. Cliquez « Next [Suivant] » au bas de chaque écran
du logiciel d’installation et cliquez « Finish [Terminer] » afin de
compléter l’installation du Hub. Sous Windows XP, les pilotes sont
installés automatiquement.

Remarque : Il se peut que l’Assistant Installation de nouveau matériel
de Windows vous demande d’insérer le CD d’installation de Windows pour
terminer la procédure d’installation du pilote.
Remarque importante : Les pilotes USB à Haut Débit du hub sont
fournis avec la plupart des cartes de mise à niveau PCI USB 2.0 et sont
pré-installés avec les pilotes des cartes PCI. Vérifiez auprès du fabricant
de votre carte PCI concernant les pilotes USB 2.0 les plus récents.

Après l’installation du Hub, suit l’installation des ports du Lecteur.
Vous n’avez aucune manipulation à effectuer.

Retrait sans danger des cartes et des lecteurs multimédia

Ne retirez pas la carte multimédia du lecteur pendant la lecture ou
l’écriture de données sur la carte. Vous risqueriez de l’endommager
et de prendre toutes les données qu’elle contient. La procédure
sécuritaire consiste à double-cliquer sur « My Computer [Poste de
Travail] », cliquer avec le bouton droit de la souris sur le lecteur et
choisir « Eject [Éjecter] ». Selon le système d’exploitation utilisé, il
se peut qu’aucun message ne vous informe de la fin de l’opération.
Toutefois, après avoir cliqué sur « Eject [(Éjecter] », vous pouvez
retirer la carte sans altérer les fichiers qu’elle contient.
2.
Pour supprimer sans danger un lecteur multimédia de votre
ordinateur, cliquez sur le bouton « Unplug or Eject Hardware
[Débrancher ou éjecter le matériel] » que vous trouverez dans
l’angle inférieur droit de la barre des tâches de Windows. Si vous
ne suivez pas cette procédure, vous risquez de perdre les données
stockées sur votre carte ou les altérer.

Media Reader Driver and Icon », et cliquez ensuite sur « Remove

Der Reader ist mit einem Hi-Speed USB 2.0 3-Port Hub ausgestattet. Für
das Anschließen von USB-Geräten bietet er gegenüber herkömmlichen USB
2.0-Hubs einen entscheidenden Vorteil. Die neue „Quad TT“-Architektur
ermöglicht es jedem der drei nachgeschalteten Anschlüsse, die ganze
USB-Bandbreite von 12 Mbit/s für Geräte mit niedriger und voller
Geschwindigkeit und bietet zugleich uneingeschränkte Unterstützung für

klicken Sie dann auf das CD-ROM-Symbol. Dadurch wird die
Hauptseite des Installationsprogramms geladen.

Der “InstallShield-Wizard” (Installationsassistent) wird geöffnet.

Windows ME und XP bieten von sich aus Unterstützung für Massenspeicher. Daher ist die Installation des Belkin Treibers zur Verwendung
des Readers nicht erforderlich. Wenn Sie jedoch die individuellen
Treibersymbole anzeigen möchten, müssen Sie den Treiber installieren.
b)
Windows 2000 bietet ebenfalls von sich aus Unterstützung für
Massenspeicher. In den Versionen vor Service Pack 3 werden jedoch
keine “Multi-LUN”-Geräte unterstützt. Wenn der Belkin Treiber in den
Windows 2000 Versionen vor Service Pack 3 nicht installiert wird,
steht nur der CompactFlash-Steckplatz zur Verfügung. Wenn Sie die
individuellen Treibersymbole anzeigen möchten, müssen Sie den

Hardwareinstallation

Schließen Sie das Netzgerät an eine nahe gelegene Steckdose oder
einen Überspannungsschutz an. Schließen Sie den DC-Stecker an
den Netzteilanschluss an der Hub-Rückseite an.
Hinweis: Der Hub kann bei den meisten USB-Geräten auch ohne Netzteil
verwendet werden.

Schließen Sie den USB-A-Stecker (flacher Stecker) des beiliegenden
USB-Gerätekabels an die nachgeschaltete Schnittstelle des
Computers oder eines anderen Hubs an. Stecken Sie den USB-BMinistecker (kleiner Stecker) in den USB-B-Minianschluss an der
Rückseite des Readers.
Wichtiger Hinweis: Der Reader muss an einen USB 2.0-fähigen Host
angeschlossen werden, damit der Hochgeschwindigkeitsmodus (480
Mbit/s) genutzt werden kann. Wird der Hub an einen Host mit USB 1.1
angeschlossen, kann er nur mit niedriger oder voller Geschwindigkeit
(1,5/12 Mbit/s) betrieben werden.

Windows erkennt Ihren Hub und startet den Assistenten zur
Hardware-Installation. Übernehmen Sie alle Standardeinstellungen,
die der Assistent anbietet, um die Hardware-Installation
abzuschließen. Klicken Sie auf jedem Installationsfenster einfach auf
“Weiter” (unten), bis die Installation abgeschlossen ist.
Unter Windows XP werden die Treiber automatisch installiert.

Wichtiger Hinweis: Hi-Speed Hub-Treiber werden mit den meisten USB

Sichere Entnahme von Medienkarten und
Entfernen der Reader

Die Medienkarte darf nicht entnommen werden, solange der
Reader Daten ausliest oder auf die Karte schreibt, da die Karte
sonst beschädigt werden kann und Daten verloren gehen. Sie
können die Karte entnehmen, indem Sie auf den Arbeitsplatz
doppelklicken, mit der rechten Maustaste auf das Laufwerk klicken
und “Auswerfen” aus der Liste wählen. Je nach Betriebssystem wird
der Medienauswurf möglicherweise durch eine Meldung bestätigt.
Nachdem Sie auf “Auswerfen” geklickt haben, können Sie die Karte
jedoch entnehmen, ohne die enthaltenen Dateien zu beschädigen.
2.
Um den Reader sicher von Ihrem Computer zu entfernen, klicken
Sie auf die Schaltfläche “Unplug or Eject Hardware” (Hardware
entfernen oder auswerfen) rechts auf der Windows Task-Leiste.
Wenn Sie diesen Schritt nicht durchführen, können die Daten auf der
Medienkarte verloren gehen oder beschädigt werden.
Deinstallieren des Readers

Im den Reader-Treiber zu deinstallieren, klicken Sie auf die StartSchaltfläche, und wählen Sie “Einstellungen” > “Systemsteuerung”

Mac OS X 10.1.2 und höher bietet von sich aus Unterstützung für
Massenspeichergeräte. Um Ihren Reader zu installieren, müssen Sie
ihn nur an eine freie USB-Schnittstelle an Ihrem Mac oder USB-Hub
anschließen. Weitere Benutzereingriffe sind nicht erforderlich.
Hinweis: Der Hi-Speed 2.0 Betrieb (480 Mbit/s) wird von Mac OS X
erst ab Version v10.2.8 unterstützt. Wenn der Reader unter einer Version
von Mac OX X vor v10.2.8 verwendet wird, kann er ohne Einschränkung
genutzt werden, bietet jedoch nur die volle Geschwindigkeit (12 Mbit/s)
und nicht die hohe USB 2.0-Geschwindigkeit.

Zugriff auf Dateien und Daten

Sichere Entnahme von digitalen FlashMedia-Karten

Mac OS bietet zwei Methoden für die sichere Entnahme von
Medienkarten aus Ihrem Reader.
a) Klicken Sie auf das Laufwerkssymbol für den Reader, und wählen
Sie aus der Befehlsleiste oben auf dem Bildschirm die Option
“Special” (Extras). Wählen Sie die Option “Auswerfen” aus dem

De medialezer heeft een ingebouwde Hi-Speed USB 2.0 driepoorts hub.
Hiermee kunt u USB-apparaten aansluiten met een belangrijk voordeel
ten opzichte van gewone USB 2.0-hubs. Dat is zijn implementatie
van de nieuwe ‘Quad TT’ architectuur. Hierdoor kunnen de drie

setupapplicatie geladen.

Klik op de knop ‘Install Driver’ (Stuurprogramma installeren).

Nu start de ‘InstallShield Wizard’. Klik in elk van de schermen die
vervolgens verschijnen op ‘Next’ (Volgende) en ten slotte op ‘Finish’
(Voltooien). Start de computer nu opnieuw om de installatie van de
stuurprogramma’s te voltooien.
Belangrijke opmerkingen over besturingssystemen:
a)
Windows Me en XP ondersteunen zelf apparaten voor massa-opslag. U
hoeft het Belkin stuurprogramma niet te installeren om de medialezer
te gebruiken. Als u echter gebruik wilt maken van de aangepaste
stationspictogrammen, moet u het stuurprogramma wel installeren.
b)
Windows 2000 ondersteunt zelf ook apparaten voor massaopslag
maar geen ‘multi-LUN’-apparaten in versies ouder dan Service Pack
3. Als u het Belkin stuurprogramma niet in Windows 2000-versies
ouder dan Service-Pack 3 installeert, kunt u alleen het CompactFlashslot gebruiken. Als u toch de aangepaste stations pictogrammen wilt
gebruiken, moet u het stuurprogramma installeren.
c)
Windows 98 SE ondersteunt geen apparaten voor massaopslag; voor
dit besturingssysteem moet u het Belkin stuurprogramma dus altijd
installeren.

Hardware installeren

Sluit de netvoedingsadapter aan op een stopcontact of op een
spanningsbeveiliger. Steek de gelijkstroomconnector in het
bijbehorende voedingspunt aan de achterkant van de medialezer.
Let op: Bij de meeste USB-apparaten kunt u de hub zonder de
voedingsunit gebruiken.

Steek het platte uiteinde (USB-A-connector) van de meegeleverde
USB-aansluitkabel in de downstreampoort van de computer of in
de downstreampoort van een andere hub. Steek het kleine uiteinde
(USB-B mini-B connector) in de USB-B mini-B aansluiting aan de
achterkant van de medialezer.
Belangrijke opmerking: De medialezer moet aangesloten zijn op
een voor USB 2.0 geschikte host om in Hi-Speed modus (datasnelheid
480 Mbps) te functioneren. Als u hub aansluit op een host die aan USB
1.1 voldoet, werkt deze uitsluitend in low-speed of full-speed modus (1,5
Mbps resp. 12 Mbps).

Windows detecteert nu de hub waarna de ‘Hardware Installation
Wizard’ start. Gebruik alle standaardinstellingen die de ‘Hardware
Installation Wizard’ aangeeft om de installatie van de apparatuur
te voltooien. Klik onder in elk installatiescherm iedere keer op
‘Next’ (Volgende) en klik ten slotte op ‘Finish’ (Voltooien) om de
installatieprocedure van de hub te voltooien.
Onder Windows XP worden de stuurprogramma’s automatisch
geïnstalleerd.

Belangrijke opmerking: De stuurprogramma’s van Hi-Speed hubs
worden bij de meeste USB 2.0 upgradekaarten geleverd. Deze worden
samen met de stuurprogramma’s van de PCI-kaarten vooraf geïnstalleerd.
Vraag de leverancier of fabrikant van de PCI-kaart naar het nieuwste
stuurprogramma voor USB 2.0.

Als de installatie van de hub klaar is, worden de poorten van de
medialezer geïnstalleerd. U hoeft verder niets te doen.

De medialezer wordt herkend als vier afzonderlijke, verwisselbare
stations. Klik in de Windows desktop op het pictogram ‘My
Computer’ (Deze computer) om het nieuwe station c.q. de nieuwe
stations te openen. Wanneer het venster ‘My Computer’ (Deze
computer) opengaat, ziet u een aangepast stationspictogram dat elk
van de vier slots vertegenwoordigt. (Zie het hoofdstuk ‘Opmerkingen

USB-apparaten op de hub aansluiten

Steek de USB-A-connector van elk USB-apparaat dat u wilt
aansluiten in een vrije downstreampoort van de hub.
2.
Volg de installatie-instructies van de fabrikant van het apparaat.
Belangrijke opmerking: Wanneer u een apparaat van de ene naar
een andere poort van de hub verhuist, is het soms nodig het USBstuurprogramma voor dat apparaat opnieuw te installeren.
Geheugenkaarten en medialezers veilig
verwijderen

Verwijder de geheugenkaart niet uit de medialezer terwijl data van
de kaart wordt gelezen of naar de kaart geschreven. Hierdoor kunt
u de geheugenkaart beschadigen en gegevens kwijt raken. De juiste
manier om de kaart te verwijderen is de volgende: dubbelklik op ‘My
Computer’ (Deze computer), klik daarna met de rechter muisknop
op het station en selecteer in de lijst ‘Eject’ (Uitstoten). Niet elk
besturingssysteem waarschuwt dat u de opdracht ‘Eject’ (Uitstoten)
correct hebt uitgevoerd. Nadat u op ‘Eject’ (Uitstoten) hebt geklikt,
kunt u de kaart toch verwijderen zonder de bestanden op de kaart te
beschadigen.
2.
Om een medialezer veilig van uw computer te verwijderen, klikt u
op het pictogram ‘Unplug or Eject Hardware’ (Hardware ontkoppelen
of uitstoten) rechts op de Windows taakbalk. Elke andere manier
kan verlies of beschadiging veroorzaken van op de geheugenkaart
opgeslagen data.
De medialezer verwijderen
Alle versies van Windows

U verwijdert het stuurprogramma van de medialezer als volgt: klik
op ‘Start’, selecteer achtereenvolgens ‘Settings’ (Instellingen),
‘Control Panel’ (Configuratiescherm) en ten slotte ‘Add/Remove
programs’ (Programma’s toevoegen/verwijderen). Kies ‘Belkin Media
Reader Driver and Icon’ (Belkin stuurprogramma en pictogram van
de medialezer) en klik vervolgens op ‘Remove’ (Verwijderen).

Let op: U hoeft deze procedure alleen uit te voeren als het Belkin
stuurprogramma geïnstalleerd is.

U kunt het stuurprogramma ook verwijderen via het onderdeel

stuurprogramma via het Windows onderdeel ‘Device Manager’
(Apparaatbeheer) verwijdert, moet de medialezer op de computer

Plaats de installatie-cd van de Belkin medialezer in het cd-romstation.

Dubbelklik op het pictogram ‘F5U271 Installer CD’ van het cdromstation dat op uw bureaublad te zien is. Klik vervolgens op
‘Belkin Installer 1.7’ (Belkin installatieprogramma 1.7).

Volg de aanwijzingen op het beeldscherm om de installatie van het
stuurprogramma te voltooien.
4.
Sluit de USB-stekker van de medialezer aan op een vrije USB-poort
van de Mac® computer of USB-hub en schuif de geheugenkaart in
het slot.
5.
Nadat u een geheugenkaart hebt ingebracht, verschijnt deze op uw
bureaublad als standaard Mac OS-schijfstation. Afhankelijk van het
type kaart verschijnt voor elk slot een aangepast stationspictogram.
Het stationspictogram verschijnt alleen wanneer u een
geheugenkaart in het bijbehorende slot plaatst.

Mac OS X v10.1.2 en hoger kunnen apparaten voor massageheugenopslag zelf ondersteunen. Als u de medialezer wilt
installeren, hoeft u deze alleen aan te sluiten op een vrije USB-poort
van de Mac-computer of USB-hub. Verder hoeft u niets te doen.
Let op: De ondersteuning van de Hi-Speed 2.0-modus (480 Mbps) is
beperkt tot Mac OS X v10.2.8 en hoger. Als u de medialezer gebruikt met
een versie van Mac OS X die ouder is dan X v10.2.8 werken alle functies,
maar alleen in full-speed modus (12 Mbps).

Let op: Aangepaste pictogrammen worden momenteel niet door de Mac
OS X-versies ondersteund.

Bestanden en data openen

Om bestanden vanaf of naar de disk te verplaatsen, sleept u het
bestand eenvoudig naar de andere locatie of gebruikt u een van
de andere manieren van bestandsoverdracht die standaard in het
besturingssysteem van de computer aanwezig zijn.
Digitale flashgeheugenkaarten veilig verwijderen
1.
Mac OS biedt twee methoden voor het veilig verwijderen van
geheugenkaarten uit de medialezer.
a)
Klik op het stationspictogram van de medialezer en kies
vervolgens ‘Special’ (Speciaal) in de opdrachtenbalk boven in
uw beeldscherm. In de vervolgkeuzelijst selecteert u ‘Eject’
(Uitstoten).

Instalación del controlador
1.
Inserte el CD con el controlador de instalación de Belkin.
a)
Después de unos momentos aparecerá en la pantalla de su
ordenador la aplicación de instalación.
b)
Si no aparece la aplicación de instalación, haga doble clic en
“My Computer” (Mi PC) y después en el icono de su unidad de
CD-ROM. De esta forma se cargará la página principal de la
aplicación de instalación.
2.
Haga clic en el botón “Install Driver” (Instalar controlador).
3.
Ahora se iniciará el “InstallShield Wizard” (Asistente InstallShield). Haga
clic en “Next” (Siguiente) en todas las pantallas que vayan apareciendo
y después haga clic en “Finish” (Finalizar). Ahora reinicie su ordenador
para completar el procedimiento de instalación del controlador.

Advertencias importantes sobre los sistemas operativos:
a)
Windows Me y XP ofrecen soporte incorporado para dispositivos de
almacenamiento masivo. No es necesario instalar el controlador de Belkin
para poder utilizar el lector. No obstante, si desea sacar partido de los
iconos personalizados de unidad, será preciso instalar el controlador.
b)
Windows 2000 ofrece asimismo un soporte incorporado para
dispositivos de almacenamiento masivo, pero, en versiones
anteriores a Service Pack 3, no soporta dispositivos “multi-LUN”.
Si no se instala el controlador de Belkin en las versiones anteriores
a Service Pack 3 de Windows 2000, solamente estará disponible la
ranura CompactFlash. Además, si desea sacar partido de los iconos
personalizados de unidad, será preciso instalar el controlador.
c)
Windows 98 SE no soporta dispositivos de almacenamiento masivo;
por esta razón, el controlador de Belkin deberá ser instalado en
todos los casos.

Instalación del hardware
Nota importante: No conecte ningún dispositivo USB a los puertos del
concentrador hasta que haya finalizado el proceso de instalación.

Conecte el adaptador de CA a la toma de pared o supresor de
aumentos de tensión. Conecte el enchufe de CC a la toma de
alimentación CC de la parte posterior del lector.
Atención: el concentrador puede ser empleado sin la fuente de
alimentación con la mayoría de dispositivos USB.

Conecte el extremo plano (conector USB-A) del cable de dispositivos
USB adjunto al puerto de corriente descendente de su ordenador, o
al puerto de corriente descendente de otro concentrador. Conecte el
extremo pequeño (conector USB-B mini-B) al conector USB-B mini-B
de la parte posterior del lector.
Nota importante: el lector debe conectarse a un host compatible con
USB 2.0 con el fin de funcionar en modo de alta velocidad (velocidad de
datos de 480Mbps). Si se conecta el concentrador a un host compatible
con USB 1.1, sólo funcionará en los modos de velocidad lenta o de
velocidad completa (1.5Mbps/12Mbps).

3. Windows detectará ahora su concentrador e iniciará el “Hardware
Installation Wizard” (Asistente de instalación de hardware). Emplee
todos los ajustes por defecto suministrados por el asistente de
instalación de hardware para completar el procedimiento de
instalación del hardware. Haga clic simplemente el botón “Next”
(siguiente) de la parte inferior de cada una de las pantallas de
instalación y después haga clic en “Finish” (finalizar) para completar
el proceso de instalación del concentrador.
Con Windows XP, los drivers se instalarán de modo automático.

Atención: El asistente de instalar nuevo hardware (“Install New Hardware
Wizard”) de Windows puede solicitarle la inserción de su CD de instalación
de Windows para completar el proceso de instalación de los controladores.
Nota importante: los controladores del concentrador de alta velocidad
se incluyen con la mayoría de tarjetas de actualización PCI USB 2.0, y
se encuentran preinstalados conjuntamente con los controladores de la
tarjeta PCI. Consulte con el fabricante de su tarjeta PCI para obtener el
controlador USB 2.0 más actualizado.

Una vez finalizada la instalación del concentrador, los puertos del
lector estarán instalados. No se requiere ninguna acción adicional
por parte del usuario.

El lector será reconocido como cuatro unidades de disco
individuales extraíbles. Para acceder a la(s) nueva(s) unidad(es),
haga clic en el icono de “My Computer” (Mi PC) situado en
el escritorio de Windows. Cuando se abra la ventana de “My
Computer” (Mi PC), verá un icono de unidad de disco personalizado
representando cada una de las cuatro ranuras. (Véase la sección

Extracción segura de tarjetas de medios y lectores

No extraiga su tarjeta de medios del lector mientras se esté
procediendo a la lectura de los datos o a su grabado en la tarjeta. Si
lo hace, podría deteriorar la tarjeta de medios y provocar la pérdida
de los datos. La forma correcta de extraer la tarjeta consiste en
hacer doble clic en “My Computer” (Mi PC), y después hacer clic
con el botón derecho del ratón en la unidad y seleccionar “Eject”
(expulsar) de la lista. Dependiendo de su sistema operativo es
posible que esta propiedad no le indique que la expulsión ha sido
realizada. No obstante, después de hacer clic en “Eject” (expulsar),
podrá extraer la tarjeta sin deteriorar los archivos existentes en la
misma.

Para extraer el lector de su ordenador de manera segura, haga
clic en el icono “Unplug or Eject Hardware” (Desconectar o extraer
hardware) situado en la esquina inferior derecha de la barra de
tareas de Windows. De no hacerlo así, podría provocar la pérdida o
deterioro de los datos almacenados en su tarjeta de medios.

Para desinstalar el controlador del lector, haga clic en el botón
“Start” (inicio), seleccione “Settings” (configuración), seleccione

clic con el botón derecho del ratón en “My Computer” (Mi PC) y

de disco). Seleccione el lector de la lista de unidades y haga clic en

Mac OS X v10.1.2 y superior ofrece soporte incorporado para
dispositivos de almacenamiento masivo. Para instalar el lector,
conéctelo simplemente a un puerto USB disponible en su ordenador
Mac o concentrador USB. No se requiere ninguna intervención
adicional por parte del usuario.
Atención: el soporte para el modo 2.0 de alta velocidad (480Mbps) está
limitado a Mac OS X v10.2.8 y superior. Si se emplea el lector con una
versión de Mac OS X anterior a X v10.2.8, será perfectamente operativo
pero sólo funcionará en el modo de velocidad completa (12Mbps).

Installazione driver

Inserire il CD di installazione del Lettore Belkin.
a)
Dopo qualche secondo sullo schermo del computer compare
l’applicazione di installazione.
b)
Se l’applicazione di installazione non dovesse comparire, fare
doppio clic su “My Computer” (Risorse del computer) e fare
clic sull’icona corrispondente al proprio drive del CD Rom. In
tal modo si carica la pagina principale dell’applicazione di
configurazione.

Note importanti sul sistema operativo:
a)
Windows Me e XP offrono dispositivi di archiviazione di massa con
supporto nativo. Non è necessario installare il driver Belkin per
usare il Lettore. Tuttavia, se si desidera utilizzare le icone delle unità
personalizzate, il driver deve essere installato.
b)
Anche Windows 2000 offre supporto nativo per i dispositivi di
archiviazione di massa, ma non supporta i dispositivi “multiLUN”. Se il driver Belkin non è installato nelle versioni Windows
2000 precedenti al Service Pack 3, sarà disponibile solo lo slot
CompactFlash. Tuttavia, se si desidera utilizzare le icone delle unità
personalizzate, il driver deve essere installato.
c)
Windows 98 SE non supporta i dispositivi di archiviazione di massa,
di conseguenza il driver Belkin deve essere sempre installato.

Installazione hardware
Nota importante: non collegare alcun dispositivo USB alle porte
dell’hub fino a quando il processo di installazione non è terminato.

Inserire l’adattatore AC in una presa a muro o in un soppressore
delle sovracorrenti. Inserire il connettore DC nel jack di
alimentazione DC sul retro del Lettore.
Nota: l’hub può essere utilizzato senza alimentatore nella maggior parte
dei dispositivi USB.

Inserire l’estremità piatta (connettore USB-A) del cavo del
dispositivo USB fornito nella porta a valle del computer o nella porta
a valle di un altro hub. Inserire l’estremità piccola (connettore miniB USB-B) nel connettore mini-B dell’USB-B sul retro del Lettore.
Nota importante: per funzionare ad alta velocità (velocità di
trasferimento dati 480Mbps), il Lettore deve essere collegato con un host
conforme alla tecnologia USB 2.0. Se l’hub viene collegato ad un host
conforme alle specifiche 1.1, funzionerà soltanto in modalità bassa o
massima velocità (1,5 Mbps/12 Mbps).

Windows rileverà automaticamente l’hub ed avvierà il programma
“Add New Hardware Wizard”(Installazione guidata nuovo hardware).
Per completare la procedura di installazione hardware, utilizzare
tutte le impostazioni predefinite fornite dal programma di
installazione guidata “Hardware Installation Wizard”. È sufficiente
fare clic su “Next” (Avanti) in fondo ad ogni schermata di
installazione, quindi fare clic su “Finish” (Fine) per completare il
processo di installazione dell’hub.
In Windows XP i driver saranno installati automaticamente.

Nota: il programma di installazione guidata Windows “Install New
Hardware Wizard” potrebbe richiedere l’inserimento del CD di installazione
per completare il processo di installazione dei driver.
Nota importante: i driver dell’hub ad alta velocità sono forniti con la
maggior parte delle schede di aggiornamento 2.0 PCI e sono preinstallati
assieme ai driver della scheda PCI. Richiedere al produttore dalla scheda
PCI il driver USB 2.0 più recente.
4.
Terminata l’installazione dell’hub, vengono installate le porte del
Lettore. Non è necessaria alcun altra immissione di dati da parte
dell’utente.
5.
Il Lettore verrà riconosciuto come quattro singole unità disco
removibili. Per accedere ai nuovi drive, fare clic sull’icona “My
Computer” (Risorse del Computer) sul desktop di Windows. Quando
la finestra “My Computer” si apre, compare un’icona rappresentante
ciascuno dei quattro slot. (Per il supporto delle icone personalizzate,
consultare le note sul sistema operativo sopra riportate)

Collegamento delle unità USB all’hub
1.
Inserire il connettore USB-A del(i) dispositivo(i) che si desidera
collegare in una porta qualsiasi a valle del computer.
2.
Seguire le istruzioni di installazione fornite dal produttore del
dispositivo.
Nota importante: per spostare un dispositivo da una porta dell’hub
all’altra, potrebbe essere necessario reinstallare i driver USB per il
dispositivo in questione.
Rimozione sicura delle Schede di memoria e dei
Lettori
Tutte le versioni di Windows

Non estrarre la scheda dal Lettore durante le operazioni di lettura
o scrittura dei dati nella scheda. In caso contrario, la scheda
verrà danneggiata e si causerà una perdita dei dati. Per estrarre
correttamente la scheda, andare in “My Computer” (Risorse del
computer), fare clic con il tasto destro del mouse sul drive e
selezionare “Eject”(Espelli) dall’elenco. In base al proprio sistema
operativo, questa opzione potrebbe non visualizzare il messaggio
che indica che l’operazione è stata eseguita. Dopo aver fatto clic su
“Eject”(Espelli), è possibile estrarre la scheda senza danneggiare i
file in essa contenuta.
2.
Per estrarre in maniera sicura il Lettore dal computer, fare clic sul
pulsante “Unplug or Eject Hardware” (Disconnetti o espelli hardware)
previsto nell’angolo a destra della barra delle applicazioni di
Windows. La mancata osservanza di questo passo può provocare la
perdita o la corruzione dei file memorizzati nella scheda di supporto.

Disinstallazione del Lettore
Tutte le versioni di Windows

Per disinstallare il driver del Lettore, fare clic sul pulsante
“Start” (Avvio), selezionare “Settings” (Impostazioni), selezionare
“Control Panel” (Pannello di controllo) e quindi “Add/Remove
Programs”(Aggiungi/Rimuovi programmi). Selezionare “Belkin Media
Reader Driver and Icon” e fare clic su “Remove” (Rimuovi).
Nota: questo procedimento è necessario solo se il driver Belkin è stato

installato.

È anche possibile eseguire la procedura di disinstallazione da
Windows Device Manager (Gestione periferiche di Windows). (Per
eseguire la disinstallazione da Gestione periferiche di Windows, il
Lettore essere collegato al computer). Fare clic con il tasto destro
su “My Computer” (Rosse del Computer) e quindi selezionare
“Properties” (Proprietà), seguito da “Device Manager” (Gestione
periferiche). Fare clic sul segno (+) vicino a “Disk Drives” (Unità
disco). Selezionare il Lettore dall’elenco delle unità, quindi fare clic
su “Remove” (Rimuovi). A questo punto scollegare il Lettore dalla
porta Usb del computer o dell’hub.

Inserire il CD di installazione del Lettore Belkin.

Fare doppio clic sull’icona dell’unità del CD-ROM “F5U271 Installer
CD” che compare sul desktop. Quindi fare clic su “Belkin installer
1.7”.

Seguire le istruzioni a video per completare la procedura.
4.
Collegare la presa USB del Lettore ad una porta USB libera del
proprio computer Mac®, o ad un hub USB ed inserire la scheda di
memoria.
5.
Una volta che la scheda è stata inserita, essa compare sul
desktop come unità di disco standard Mac OS. Apparirà l’icona
personalizzata dell’unità per ciascuno slot in funzione del tipo
di scheda di memoria. L’icona dell’unità apparirà solo quando la
scheda di memoria viene inserita nel rispettivo slot.

Nota importante: non collegare nessun dispositivo USB all’hub.

Mac OS v10.1.2 e le versioni successive offrono dispositivi di
archiviazione di massa con supporto nativo. Per installare il Lettore,
basta collegarlo alla porta USB disponibile nel computer Mac o
nell’hub USB. Non è necessario nessun altro intervento da parte
dell’utente.
Nota: il supporto per la modalità ad alta velocità (480Mbps) è limitato
a partire dalla versione OS X v10.2.8. Se il Lettore viene utilizzato con
una versione Mac OS X precedente alla X v10.2.8, esso sarà pienamente
funzionante, ma funzionerà soltanto a velocità piena (12Mbps).

Nota: il supporto con icone personalizzate non è attualmente disponibile
in nessuna delle versioni OS X.

Una volta che la scheda è stata inserita, essa compare sul desktop

selezionare “Special” (Speciale) dalla barra di comando in

tendina.
