enti promotori: programma del festival The “Tuscan AngloAmerican Festival in Florence” aims to celebrate the close relationship among American Universities, Anglophone cultural centers, and Tuscany by engaging in a continuous dialogue among institutions, scholars, teachers and students of different disciplines from all over the world. About 9,000 students frequent the 40+ study abroad programs in the capitol of our region every year. The objective of the first “Tuscan AngloAmerican Festival in Florence” is to highlight the many positive aspects of the presence of AngloAmerican institutions in Florence through some of the activities that they promote on a daily basis such as: conferences, art and photography shows, concerts, seminars and endless volunteer options. During the festival, the American universities and the British Institute will open their doors to Tuscan residents, sharing their experiences and putting students in contact with their Italian peers. The constant collaboration and reciprocal enrichment maintained by Tuscany and the Anglo-American Institutions in Florence has brought together the US, Great Britain, and Tuscany for over a century. Ultimately, the Festival is an occasion to fortify and appreciate this unique cultural bond. Information and registration for events can be found in the Gazebo in Piazza della Repubblica and online at www.taainflorence.it Legenda delle attività Conference Concerts / Dance Videos Art Shows Volunteer activities / Guided visits WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9TH, 2016 9:00-10:00, Palazzo Vecchio, Salone dei Cinquecento OPENING REMARKS Inauguration of Festival activities presented by Dario Nardella (Mayor of Florence), Cristina Giachi (Deputy Mayor of Florence and City Councillor for Education, University and Research), Abigail Rupp (Consul General of the USA in Florence), Portia Prebys (AACUPI President), Julia Race (Director of the British Institute, Florence), Andrea Davis (Co-President of the Tuscan American Association). 10:00, Palazzo Vecchio, Salone dei Cinquecento FLORENCE W ELCOME W AVE The dance students at AEF and Elon University will animate the inauguration ceremony with a flash-mob that will engage all guests in an original performance.
