Dr. Stefania Romano works as radiologist at the Department of
Diagnostic Imaging at “A. Cardarelli” Hospital in Naples, Italy.
Her main field of interest and scientific research is abdominal and
gastrointestinal radiology in elective and emergency conditions
with more than 130 publications in this area. She has been an
invited speaker at many international meetings on these topics.
She is a Fellow of the European Society of Gastrointestinal
Radiology (ESGAR), as well as a member of the Society of
Abdominal Radiology (SAR), Radiologic Society of North
America (RSNA), American Society of Emergency Radiology
(ASER), European Society of Radiology (ESR), American
Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) and the Italian Society of
Radiology (SIRM). Dr Romano is an active member of the
American Association of Women Radiologists (AAWR) and has
served on the association’s International Committee (2011) and
Membership Committee (2012). Dr. Romano has been a member
of (2009-2011) and Chaired (2013) the European Congress of
Radiology (ECR) Gastrointestinal Subcommittee. She has also
acted as a member of the Radiographics Selection Committee for
RSNA 2007–2013 and RSNA

Education Exhibits Awards Committee 2012-2014.
Dr. Romano is involved as Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor,
Guest Editor and peer reviewer for a range of international
professional Journals in the field of Clinical Radiology. She was
the recipient of the ARRS Lee R. Rogers AJR International
Fellowship (2007) and served the American Journal of Radiology
as international liaison (2008-2011). She is Editor-in-Chief for
the European Journal of Radiology Open (EJRO); she is
Associate Editor, Section Editor leader for the Abdominal-GI-GU
and Responsible for the Special Issues for the European Journal
of Radiology (EJR) and she has also guest-edited several special
issues for the Journal. She has acted as Guest Editor of an edition
of Radiologic Clinics of North America (Diagnostic Imaging of
Gastrointestinal Ischemia and Infarction) and is currently on the
editorial boards of EJR, the Journal of Computer Assisted
Tomography, and Ceska Radiologie.
