2.
The article “Assembly of shape controlled nanocrystals by depletion attraction” by Zanella et al. was
highlighted as “hot article” by the editorial board of Chemical Communications, February 2011. See:
http://blogs.rsc.org/cc/2010/10/06/the-power-of-depletion-attraction/.

Confernces and workshops: I participated at several national and international (USA, Italy, France, India,
Germany) conferences and workshops with posters and talks.
Degree in physics: I received the degree in physics at Padova University (Italy) in June 2004.
The thesis, at the National Nanotechnology Laboratory of INFM in Lecce (Italy), was focused on the study
of the transport properties of different molecules/biomolecules (Azurin, Porphyrin, Sexithyophene and
Pentacene) to implement nanoscaled devices. My supervisors were Dr. Giuseppe Maruccio, Prof. Ross
Rinaldi and Prof. Roberto Cingolani. In that work experience, I fabricated and measured three different types
of two- and three-terminal molecular devices on Si/SiO 2 substrates or GaAs/AlGaAs mesa structures and
we succeeded in the fabrication of molecular diodes and transistors.
High school diploma: At Technical Industrial Institute “G. Chilesotti”, Thiene in 1995. Therefore I have
theoretical and practical experience of digital and analogical electronics, telecommunications and noise in
electronic devices.
Linguistic knowledge
Italian: First language.
English: Fluent.
I’m learning French and Spanish.
Computer skills
Operating System: Windows XP.
Applications: Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Origin, Adobe Acrobat, Infraview, ImageJ.
Program languages: C++, LabVIEW and Mathematica.
Characterization skills
Mask Aligner and optical lithography, Oscilloscope, Parameter and Dynamic Signal Analyzer for
characterisation of electronic devices and signals even at low temperature, Optical and Electron
Microscopes (SEM, TEM, HRTEM and SAED), EDX and ICP, powder XRD, FTIR and UV-vis
Spectrometers, Glovebox and expertise in the usage of scanning probe microscope techniques.
Experimental experiences
Nanocrystals; Synthesis and characterisation of colloidal nanoparicles of different materials, shape and size.
Clean room: Fabrication of micro- and nano-devices for micro and nano electronics.
SPM: Atomic Force Microscopy, Electric Force Microscopy, Scanning Tunneling Microscopy.
UV-vis Spectroscopy: Investigation of the structural functionality of monolayers of proteins under high
electric field. UV-vis characterisations of nanopaticles of several materials.
Other professional experiences
In order to pay the University fees, I had several jobs (waiter, personal trainer, pizza-chef, teacher of physics
and mathematics and clerk in shopping centres) both in Thiene and Padova, where I went to live on my own
at the age of 20.
Interests
Synthesis, assembly, characterisation and application of nanomaterials with different functionalities.
Molecular electronics: the possibility to realize single molecule electronic devices to improve power and
speed of computers.
Theoretical physics.
Fractals and chaos theory: a very fascinating subject that enter in many natural phenomena.
I authorize the circulation of my personal data in the respect of 675/96 act. In witness whereof.
