CALL FOR DREAMS

Eros absconditus è un progetto sugli immaginari erotici contemporanei articolato in tre capitoli: il
primo, Somnium sapientis, è dedicato ai sogni di studiosi delle sessualità e delle loro geografie.
Il progetto intende stimolare un confronto libero e non giudicante sugli immaginari sessuali e
offrire suggestioni poetiche e performative sul corpus onirico raccolto. L'obiettivo è esplorarne la
bellezza, le ossessioni e la generatività attraverso il dialogo con esperti di differenti discipline,
nonché osservare l'eventuale interferenza della propria attività professionale sulla produzione
onirica e viceversa. Il progetto è sviluppato in collaborazione con lo psichiatra psicanalista
junghiano Eugenio Torre e con il geografo Alberto Vanolo.
A questo scopo, si richiede agli studiosi delle sessualità e ai partecipanti alla Conferenza di
condividere con l’artista un proprio sogno erotico, espresso con parole, un segno grafico, attraverso
una registrazione audio o in qualsiasi altra forma.
Del progetto sarà offerta una prima restituzione a Roma, in occasione della III European
Geographies of Sexualities Conference (16-18 settembre 2015), nella forma che Irene Pittatore
riterrà più consona alle suggestioni ricevute. Un video, una performance o un libro d'artista
terranno traccia dei sogni raccolti, delle considerazioni espresse dagli studiosi coinvolti e della
risposta dell'immaginario dell'artista all'insieme di questi stimoli.
L'esperienza ed i suoi esiti formali saranno presentati anche all’interno della rubrica Artist’s
Playground, curata da Irene Pittatore sulla nuova edizione di Playboy Italia.

Chi lo desidera, potrà rendere nota la propria identità e fornire informazioni e suggestioni sul sogno
inviato. Sono accettate tutte le lingue del convegno (Inglese, Italiano, Francese, Spagnolo).
Con l'invio del sogno, si autorizza Irene Pittatore alla sua pubblicazione parziale o integrale.
Irene Pittatore (Torino, 1979)
Laureata al Dams dell’Università di Torino, indaga e realizza progetti artistici sensibili ai contesti d'intervento,
con attitudine performativa e una prospettiva critica che abbraccia teoria queer e studi di genere. È cofondatrice di Impasse, associazione che promuove un trattamento equo del lavoro intellettuale e opera per
estendere e contaminare i contesti di produzione e fruizione dell’arte contemporanea. È art contributor per
Men's Wall e Playboy Italia. Lavora a A book To-Be, How to move your artwork from museum to public space
(edizioni Archive Books), libro d’artista sulle nuove forme d’arte nella sfera pubblica in relazione a processi di
trasformazione urbana, a cura di Nicoletta Daldanise. Con Radici erranti ha sviluppato attività di cooperazione
culturale e progetti d’arte pubblica nel quartiere operaio Pogolotti, fondato all’Avana nel 1911 dall’omonimo
imprenditore italiano: il progetto Parada Pogolotti è stato presentato fra le iniziative collaterali della Bienal de
La Habana 2015. Nel 2011, in residenza a Capacete per Resò, ha sviluppato con Francesca Macrì un progetto
sul rapporto tra arte, discriminazione e consapevolezza di genere a Rio de Janeiro e a San Paolo (In genere).

Eros absconditus is an art project concerning contemporary erotic imaginaries. It is organised in
three chapters; the first one, Somnium sapientis, focuses on the dreams of scholars in social
sciences working on issues of sexuality and geography.
The project is meant to stimulate a free dialogue, arguably neutral in terms of moral judgments,
and to offer poetic and performative suggestions originated from and in strict contact with the
collected dreams. The objective is to explore the beauties, the obsessions, and the generativities of
the dreams through an open dialogue with experts of different disciplines, as well as through the
potential interference of the dreams on the artist’s works and dreams.
The project is developed in cooperation with the psychiatrist and Jungian psychoanalyst Eugenio
Torre and the geographer Alberto Vanolo.
With this aim in mind, it is asked to the scholars taking part in the Conference to share an erotic
dream with the artist. The dream may be described through words, drawings, audio files or
whatever kind of representation. A first outcome of the project will be presented in Rome, during
the III European Geographies of Sexualities Conference (16-18 September 2015), in a form that will
be chosen by the artist. In fact, she will be probably highly influenced by her exposition to the
dreams, and maybe she will generate other dreams, too, developing multiple echoes and
feedbacks. In such a scenario, it is hard to define a priori the shape of the artistic process and the
kind of output that will be developed, for example a video, an artist book or a performance. The
outcomes of the project will be also presented in the section Artist’s Playground, edited by Irene
Pittatore, on the pages of the new edition of the journal Playboy Italia.

Those who wish, may reveal their identity and provide personal information and suggestions about
the dream. Accepted languages: English, Italian, French, Spanish. By sending the dream, the
scholars authorize its integral or partial publication.
Irene Pittatore (Turin, 1979)
Graduated at Dams (University of Turin), she explores and develops context-sensitive art projects, with a
performative attitude and a critical perspective that embraces queer theory and gender studies. She is cofounder of Impasse, a cultural association with the aim of extending and contaminating the contexts of
production and fruition of contemporary art as well as promoting an equal treatment of intellectual work.
She is art contributor to Men’s Wall and Playboy Italia. She is working on A book To Be, How to move your
artwork from museum to public space (editions Archive Books), an artist’s book curated by Nicoletta Daldanise
dedicated to contemporary art practices in relation to the public realm and urban transformations. Together
with the association Radici erranti she developed cultural cooperation activities and public art projects in the
working class neighborhood Pogolotti, founded in La Habana in 1911 by the homonymous Italian
entrepreneur. The project Parada Pogolotti has been part of the side events of the Bienal de La Habana 2015.
In 2011, in residency at Capacete (Rio de Janeiro/ San Paolo) for Resò, she developed a research on the role
and the influence of female gender on the creative process as well as on the admission to artistic career ( In
genere).
