In the parable found in today's Gospel, Jesus contrasts the life of a rich man and the poor man, Lazarus, who lives in the shadow of the rich man and his wealth. Both die. Lazarus finds himself in heaven; the rich man in the netherworld. The rich man asks for assistance from Lazarus in his torment. But Abraham reminds the rich man of the good things he had in his life and describes the current situation as a reversal of fortunes. The rich man then asks that Lazarus be sent to warn his family, but this is denied with the reminder that Moses and the prophets have warned of judgment for those who neglect the care of the poor. Worldwide Marriage Encounter is a weekend getaway that helps married couples rediscover themselves as individuals and as a couple. The weekend format helps couples communicate openly and honestly without group sharing, therapy or marriage counseling. On behalf of Father Carlos Sierra and the Executive Pastoral Council, we wish to thank all our parishioners, community members and all those that were able to join us for last Sunday’s Annual Pastoral Assembly and Community Picnic and BBQ. The event was a success because we gathered together as a united family to celebrate the community at large as well as our ongoing successes within our Parish. Your generosity, participation and continued active involvement are, and will always be appreciated. When we unite as a family and as a community, great things happen, and this annual event is testament to that formation. Special thanks to Father Carlos Sierra for his continued support and spiritual guidance. Upcoming Weekend: October 21st to the 23rd, 2016 at the Queen of Apostles Renewal Centre in Mississauga. For more information and application, please go to www.wwme.org or contact: Gerard & Marge McCauley at [email protected] or (905) 792-1925. We would like to extend our gratitude to all our parishioners and community members that volunteered their time to ensure the success of this event and to all those that donated their delicious baked goods, financial contributions, and door prizes. Thank you to Masselis Supermarket and to Francesca Lauretta from Loblaws-Carlton Street for their very generous food donations. Special thanks to Joven and Mida Fernandez for leading the organizing committee.
