Sacred Heart Parish Family XXXII Domenica nel Tempo Ordinario 2 303 Paris Street, East Boston MA 02128 Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time November 11, 2012 XXXII Domenica nel Tempo Ordinario A note from Fr. Wayne . . . From the Deacon’s desk…. Another election season is over, we have heard a great deal of rhetoric on which candidate was able to lead and guide us now and in the future. Two races in particular, the presidential and the senatorial, generated much debate and at times heated discussions among different factions. Yet, with all that was said and done, we the people are the ones that need to realize that there is only one who we must follow. It has always been and needs to be, Christ. He is the one that is recognized as the only qualified person that can truly lead us. Let us always stay close to Christ; and, in this Year of Faith, let us dedicate some time in our day to learn about Him and to encounter Him. He longs to spend time with us. We need to examine if we desire to spend some time with Him. Take a look at the “Year of Faith Page” included in the bulletin and see what spiritual activity you feel will help you spend some time with the One who will always be there for you. How can I make the Holy Year of Faith a personal experience? During the month of November, a Book of Remembrance is placed at the foot of the Altar for you to in scribe the names of your deceased loved ones. November is the Month of All Souls. We want to remember your loved ones at all the Masses celebrated at Sacred Heart during the month of remembrance. Please take a moment after Mass today to write their names in the Book of Remembrance. May God grant them all eternal rest and may they sleep in the peace awaiting the day in which God will raise them up on high in the Kingdom on the last day. • In the Holy Year of Faith, each of us is invited to renew our relationship with Jesus Christ. There will be several Sacred Heart Parish Family Spiritual Exercises during this Holy Year in order to help you accomplish this goal. In the column today, I want to focus on what each of us can do individually to experience this “awakening”. Here are some thoughts: • • • • Attend daily Mass and receive the Eucharist. Make the Sacrament of Reconciliation a monthly habit – Allow yourself to be “freed” and experience that inner peace that is a grace of this sacrament. Read from the Bible – Why not simply spend 5 minutes each day reading Scripture – listen to the Word of God. Join us for Mass and Holy Hour each Saturday morning! Imagine – Mass, the Rosary, and private time with Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. Looking for a good book? Get in touch with our Catholic faith – the Catechism of the Catholic Church is an amazing way to understand the teaching of our faith. Are there more, I am sure there are! Do you need to do all of them – of course not! I simply want you to spend a moment and think about your relationship with Christ and how you can reawaken that relationship with Him! Alleluia. 5 303 Paris Street, East Boston MA 02128 Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time November 11, 2012 Offertorio Rit. On November 15, 2012 at 2:00pm, Cardinal Seán will announce his decisions on the various recommendations on the Proposal received from the Archdiocesan Pastoral Planning Council (APPC). This news conference will be streamed live at www.BostonCatholicLive.com. A video recording of this news conference can be viewed at www.planning2012.com. The Disciples in Mission proposal had two parts: Part One is entitled “Strengthening Parishes for the Work of the New Evangelization.” It contains recommendations to strengthen the existing 288 parishes in the archdiocese and to reorient our archdiocese to the work of evangelization. Part Two of Disciples in Mission is entitled “Strengthening the Work of the New Evangelization in Parishes.” It contains recommendations for reenergizing pastoral leadership in parishes and the Central Ministries of the Archdiocese and for strengthening youth and adult faith formation. Strengthening the work of the New Evangelization in parishes* • That the Archdiocese make significant investment in training to aid the implementation of Disciples in Mission. This training will take place in six stages. • That the Archdiocese continue its extensive consultation of parishes and parishioners, focusing on best practices for evangelization. • That the Archdiocese provides significant adult faith formation opportunities during the Year of Faith. • That the Archdiocese implements the remaining recommendations from the Committee to Study Lay Formation programs and from the Religious Education Task Force. * Paraphrased and partial list of recommendations www.Planning2012.com For Advertising Information, Please Call 617-779-3770 Pilot Bulletins www.PilotBulletins.net Ruggiero Family Memorial Home CHAMPIONSHIP PHYSICAL THERAPY Our Family Serving Your Family With Professionalism, Dignity & Respect” William J.
