He began his studies at the Conservatory of Benevento, and subsequently he has
completely dedicated himself to the singing studies under the guidance of Franco Corelli
and Paride Venturi.
An important performer of Italian operatic repertory, most at home in the works of Verdi
and Puccini, Carlo Barricelli made his successful debuts in roles as Pinkerton in Madama
Butterfly (Cesena, Pavia, Como, Brescia, Bergamo, Cremona) and Rodolfo in La bohème in
a production of As.Li.Co. (Pavia, Brescia, Como, Bergamo and Cremona).
During his career he took part in such important productions as Tosca (Cavaradossi) in
Thessaloniki and at the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli, La bohème (Rodolfo) at the Teatro
Filarmonico in Verona and at the Teatro Coccia in Novara, Norma (Pollione) and Tosca
(Cavaradossi) at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Nabucco (Ismaele) at the
Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Madama Butterfly (Pinkerton) at the Arena in Verona (Franco
Zeffirelli’s production), at the Staatsoper in Stuttgart under the baton of Nicola Luisotti and
at the Festival Pucciniano of Torre del Lago.
Recent engagements have included Verdi’s Messa da Requiem in Florence, Manon Lescaut
(Des Grieux), Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari,
Tabarro (Luigi) and La fanciulla del West (Dick Johnson) at the Opera House in Sydney,
Manon Lescaut (Des Grieux) at the Slovene National Opera in Ljubljana, Francesca da
Rimini at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste and La fanciulla del West (Dick Johnson) at the
Queensland Opera in Brisbane, Il trovatore (Manrico) at Opera Australia in Sydney, Aida
(Radames) in Melbourne, Madama Butterfly (Pinkerton) at Aichi Prefectural Arts Theater
di Nagoya.
