For the festival inauguration, Tivoli’s
beautiful historic centre will host a
unique event: a dazzling marathon of
performances by musicians, circus artists,
and dancers from all over Europe. After
an unusual “round-up” of popular music
orchestrated by Ambrogio Sparagna,
Piazza Campitelli will be the setting for a
contemporary circus event, with poetic
images and comic moments. The
evening will continue with the concert by
the PMJO Parco della Musica Jazz
Orchestra at 21.00 in Piazza Plebiscito. At
22.30 there will be the grand finale, with
an amazing hip hop show by German
choreographer Storm.

presents the Italian premiere of “Cruda.
Vuelta y vuelta. Al punto. Chamuscada”.
The show features actor Juan Loriente
and 15 musicians representing one of
the greatest forms of Argentine popular
culture, the murgas: colourful
performances of singing, music and
dancing; it is not simply a carnival-type
event, but also, indeed chiefly, a form of
denunciation of Argentina’s social and
political problems.

This is the world premiere of a great new
show by Giorgio Barberio Corsetti,
inspired by the Dionysiaca by Nonnus of
Panopolis. It is a dazzling story about the
journey of Dionysus, the god of wine and
the theatre, around the world, and of his
victories. The classical legend is retold
with a modern slant in a work brimming
with orgiastic drunkenness and stories full
of magic, with contributions from
musicians, actors, acrobats, and dancers.

This new project by the great pianist and
composer Ludovico Einaudi is inspired
by the time of myth. “For man,
nature, life, history and everything that
surrounds him appears as a swirl of
meaningless images, and myth becomes
a way to order and become familiar with
the true reality. Through myth, man
acquires faith and confidence in the
future and learns how to deal with it,
since he has learned from the past, from
what has been and what will be again.”
“Bbella fatte chiama’ - Love songs from
the Rome countryside”, is an original
project by Ambrogio Sparagna with
poets, singers and traditional musicians
from the Aniene Valley and the Orchestra
Popolare Italiana. With the participation of

Roysten Abel brings us the European premiere of “The Manganiyar Seduction”:
more than just a show, this is a theatrical
concert which, with its original stage
design, boldly brings together the world
of the traditional Indian music of
Manganiyar with the visual seductions of
the red light district in Amsterdam. In collaboration with the Fondazione Cinema
per Roma, this show anticipates Focus
India, one of the most important events
in the next Rome Film Festival.
“Myth” is the new creation by BelgianMoroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi
Cherkaoui. In his ability to explore and
bring together different cultures and great
varieties of dancing styles and
techniques, Sidi Larbi presents a
reflection on human existence, acted out
on stage through the work of twelve
dancers, two actors, musician Patrizia
Bovi and her Ensemble Micrologus.
“Vertiges” by Tony Gatlif, the FrenchAlgerian director of Latcho Drom and
Exils (winner of the 2004 Best Director
award at Cannes), is a great music and
dance show, with 30 artists from Spain,
North Africa and Eastern Europe; it is a
homage to gypsy art, in which Gatlif is a
great expert and which he has chosen as
the poetic subject matter for almost all of
his films. It is a huge, sweeping presentation, in which all the various components
of this fascinating and many-sided world
can find a space, an ode to youth and
liberty, a vortex of images and sounds.

Per l’inaugurazione del festival il
suggestivo centro storico di Tivoli
accoglierà un evento unico: una
straordinaria maratona di spettacoli con
musicisti, artisti di circo e danzatori
provenienti da tutta Europa.
Dopo un’inconsueta «ronda» di musica
popolare orchestrata da Ambrogio
Sparagna, Piazza Campitelli ospiterà, tra
immagini poetiche e momenti di
comicità, una kermesse di circo
contemporaneo. La serata proseguirà alle
21 in Piazza Plebiscito con il concerto
della PMJO Parco della Musica Jazz
Orchestra. Gran finale alle 22,30 con il
travolgente spettacolo hip hop del
coreografo tedesco Storm.

Un nuovo progetto del grande pianista e
compositore Ludovico Einaudi ispirato al
tempo del mito.
“Di fronte all'uomo, la natura, la vita, la
storia e tutto ciò che lo circonda, appare
come un turbinio di immagini senza
senso e il mito diventa quindi un modo
per ordinare e conoscere la propria
realtà. Attraverso il mito, l'uomo acquista
fiducia e sicurezza per il futuro e sa
come si dovrà comportare in esso,
perché lo ha appreso dal passato, da ciò
che è stato e sarà ancora.”
“Bbella fatte chiamà. Canti d’amore dalla
campagna romana”, è un progetto
originale di Ambrogio Sparagna con
poeti, cantori e musicisti tradizionali della
Valle dell’Aniene e dell’Orchestra
Popolare Italiana. Con la partecipazione
di Sonia Bergamasco e Giovanni Lindo
Ferretti.

Roysten Abel propone in prima europea
“The Manganiyar Seduction”: più che uno
spettacolo, un concerto teatralizzato che,
attraverso un’originale scenografia, unisce
in modo estremamente audace il mondo
della musica tradizionale indiana dei
Manganiyar con la seduzione visiva del
quartiere a luci rosse di Amsterdam. In
collaborazione con la Fondazione Cinema
per Roma, anticipazione del Focus India
che sarà uno degli eventi di spicco della
prossima edizione della Festa del Cinema
di Roma.
“Myth” è la nuova creazione del
coreografo belga-marocchino Sidi Larbi
Cherkaoui. Capace di esplorare e di
associare culture differenti e grandi
varietà di stili e tecniche di danza, Sidi
Larbi propone una riflessione
sull’esistenza umana condotta in scena
con dodici danzatori, due attori, la
musicista Patrizia Bovi e il suo Ensemble
Micrologus.
“Vertiges” di Tony Gatlif, il regista franco
algerino di Latcho Drom e di Exils (premiato a Cannes per la migliore regia nel
2004), è un grande spettacolo di musiche e danze, con 30 artisti provenienti da
Spagna, Nordafrica ed Europa dell’Est; un
omaggio all’arte gitana, di cui Gatlif è
grandissimo conoscitore e che ha scelto
come materia poetica per quasi tutti i
suoi film. Un gigantesco affresco in cui
troveranno spazio le diverse componenti
di questo universo affascinante e multiforme, un’ode alla libertà e alla gioventù,
un vortice di immagini e suoni.
