Scientific and academic activities: During the degree course is a winner for 5 consecutive academic years, from 1994 to 1999, a
merit-based scholarship (based on the arithmetic average university) at the Department of Electron Microscopy, directed by
Professor Pietro Motta, under the guidance of Prof. Guido Macchiarelli and Prof. Stefania Nottola, Institute of Human Anatomy,
University of Rome "La Sapienza", where "he learned the basic techniques of scanning electron microscopy and transmission, and
has participated in numerous studies on the ultrastructure of the ovary and fallopian tubes, the nephron, the glomerulus, the
endocardium, the myocardium (scientific publication No 26) also assisting the teaching staff in technical and practical lessons and
tutorials in anatomy macroscopic, microscopic, and during the dissection of human cadavers. "
Within the specialty urology, Dr. Pastore plays and has conducted research in the main field of urologic-oncology (basic research,
medical treatment, surgery and its prevention), andrology, benign prostatic hyperplasia and urinary incontinence. Within urology
oncology was particularly interested and busy, both in scientific research and clinical care of prostate cancer: prevention, basic
research and medical-surgical therapy of localized or locally advanced and metastatic hormone-refractory cancer .
On the topic of urinary incontinence and, more generally, on functional urological problems was concerned with the treatment:
rehabilitation, medical and surgical.
Since April 2002 (year and month of birth of the magazine) to December 2004 was in the editorial board of the quarterly journal
urology specialist "Prostate News", a national circulation. As part of this magazine, is author of 10 scientific articles and 1 monograph
on "analogs of somatostatin in the treatment of hormone-resistant prostate cancer."
He attended and participates, at present, as a sub-investigator to numerous experimental uro - andrological clinical trials.

CLINICAL CARE ACTIVITIES
During the degree course, from September 1994 to September 1996, he attended the department of vascular surgery, clinical
surgery II University of Rome "La Sapienza", directed by Professor Fabrizio Benedetti Valentini. During this internship, Dr.. Shepherd
has worked in the activity department and has participated as an assistant surgical activity (III operator) or help (II operator) in 21
operations, elective or urgent need for abdominal aortic aneurysm, thrombus-39 Endo-Arterectomie carotid block peripheral
saphenectomy 23, 9 packs of arteriovenous fistulas for hemodialysis, 11 femoral-popliteal bypass, 5-bis-iliac artery prostheses.
During the degree course, from September 1997 to 'August 1998, he attended the Department of Urology, directed by Prof. Michele
Gallucci at the Rome American Hospital Biomedical Campus of the University, Via Longoni, Rome. On this occasion Dr. Shepherd
has participated in surgical activity, as an assistant (III-IV operator), 76-transvesical prostatic adenomectomy operations, 48
transurethral prostate resections, 52 radical retropubic prostatectomies, 36 complete nephrectomies, 22 partial nephrectomies, 39
endoscopic resections bladder neoplasms, percutaneous nefrolitotrissie 9.
From April 1997 to November 1999 he attended, in addition, the Department of Urology "U. Bracci, "The Division of Urology, Director
Prof. Franco Di Silverio.
During Urology, has worked as a department, outpatient surgery. On this occasion Dr Shepherd has performed 120 prostate needle
biopsies TRUCUT, 168 outpatient diagnostic urethrocystoscopy, 5 TUIP as the operator, the operator 7 as TURP, TURB as the
operator 9, 235 TURP (II operator); TURB 210 (Operator II ) ATV 170 (II-III operator), 110 radical retropubic prostatectomy (III-IV
operator), 45 radical nephrectomies (III-IV operator), 25 radical cystectomy with intestinal junction (III-IV operator), 10 penile implants
hydraulic three-component type (II-III operator), 26 orchiectomy (II-III operator), 34 high ligature of the internal spermatic vein
(second to third operator), 40 eversion of tunica vaginalis (I-II operator); postectomie 65.
It is especially dedicated to the treatment and prevention of urinary stones, at the "stone center" of the Department of Urology "U.
Bracci ", under the guidance of Dr. G. Ricciuti. On this occasion he made, as tfirst operator, 298 extracorporeal shock wave
lithotripsy treatments with shock waves (ESWL) with type litoritore Lithostar  Simens, 149 Placements and 276 removals of
endoscopic ureteral stents, 89 ureteroscopies with uretero-lithotripsy, percutaneous renal lithotripsy, 26 percutaneous puncture of
renal cysts, 29 percutaneous placement of nephrostomy.
From 04 September 2008 at The Medical Manager (UOC Urology University Head Prof. A. Carbone) at the PO Terracina Centro "A.
Fiorini, "fixed-term contract (duration 12 months), currently undergoing renovation until 31.12.2011. On this occasion he played No.
3928 outpatient and 343 urological interventions .
SURGICAL TRAINING CONDUCTED ABROAD
From 01 to 19 May 2006 he attended as a specialist urologist "Visitor", the Universitatsklinik und fur Urologie Poliklinika, Direktor:
Prof. Dr. Paolo Fornara, carrying out welfare department and actively attending (as an operator II) the room surgery, where he
learned the fundamentals of urologic laparoscopic surgery (kidney cancer surgery).
