| Biographical sketch
Since the early years of his university education Eugenio Mangi has been involved in cultural activities and researches
on urban and architecture design.
From 2003 to 2005 he has been charter member and president of the student cultural association SegniDsegni,
oriented to promote the architectural design culture within the Faculty of Architecture of Parma [Italy].
In December 2006 he graduated at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Parma with a dissertation
on the urban structure of Barcelona [Spain].
From 2006 to 2008 he joined as architect Estudi Alfa Arquitectes Associats, a Barcelona office based, developing
achitecture and interior design projects focused on education and healthcare fields.
Since 2007 he is charter member of Parma Urban Center, a cultural association involved in reserach activities
about Italian and European architectural contexts.
Since 2009 to 2012 he is Tutor with the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Parma, collaborating with the
design studios held by Professors Dario Costi and Andrea Oliva.
In 2012 he obtained the Ph. D. degree in Architectural Design at the University of Palermo [Italy] in co-tutorship
with the Barcelona School of Architecture. The Ph. D. dissertation, focused on theory and history of architecture,
regarded the works of Oriol Bohigas and Josep M. Martorell, two of the most influential architects of the Spanish
design culture after the II World War.
From 2009 he founded and started collaborating with Draftarch, an architecture and interior design firm based
in Parma (Italy). Through this collective office he develops projects exploring the potential of the fusion between
Western design concepts and Eastern culture, with a special attention to the Chinese, Egyptian and Turkish
contexts.
From May 2012 to August 2013 he works as project architect and interior designer in JAO Design International,
a Beijing based architecture office, developing hospitality and retail projects.
From September 2013 he set up the Tianjin Office of Draftarch, where, together with his partners, develops
architecture, interior and product design projects.
From 2015 he is part time Tutor with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, collaborating with Design
Studio 1 and Design Studio 3 units.
