A Word from Father Sam
The Feast of Christ the King is the last Sunday of our
liturgical year. Civilly, our year is from January to January
but our liturgical or worship year is from Advent to
Advent. As our worship year comes to a close we celebrate
Jesus as our King who will restore all creation and restore
his kingdom to the Father. Even now, by virtue of our baptism, we live in the Kingdom of Jesus. Our kingdom is not
a territory, our kingdom is a way of life: love, not hatred,
forgiveness not anger, charity not selfishness, prayer and
faith not doubt, peace not war. As baptized people we
profess our faith in God and we renew our faith at every
Eucharistic celebration when we recite the creed. Every
day our prayer should be: “Lord, give me strength to live
in your kingdom today.”
A New Celebration
Our Catechism coordinators have come up with a great idea
to celebrate the beginning of our Christmas holidays. On
Sunday December 16, we will have a mass with our grandparents, parents and children at 10:30am in Italian and
English and then have a lunch together in the hall. Obviously
there will not be class that day. What a great way to bring
our families together! So start planning for this day of faith
and fun.
Morning of Prayer and Rest
We will have a morning of prayer and reflection on Saturday,
December 15, directed by Michelle Garlinski. We will be
praying and reflecting on the Season of Advent. It will be
held at Holy Rosary Church from 9:30am-12 noon. Everyone
is invited, especially Eucharistic ministers, lectors, choir
members and ushers. You do not need to register, just show
up to attend.

Development and Peace
As many of you know, each year during the fall D & P
launches the education campaign on social justice to educate
ourselves about international issues that affect the world’s
poor and to take action by signing a pledge card which is
usually sent to our government bringing attention issues and
topics of concern to Canadians and requesting that we collectively take action to address and improve the lives of the
world’s poor.
This past year the federal government significantly cut the
financial support to Caritas International and to D & P both
Catholic organizations responsible to carry out our church’s
mission in international development. As a result this year D
& P’s fall campaign will be limited in scope.
Nevertheless, D & P continues to advocate for the world’s
poor as our central theme and will continue its strong educational and awareness campaign to inform Canadians on global issues respecting the world’s poor, leading to our annual
Share Lent campaign in the spring.
We count on your solidarity and support as we work through
this period of adjustment to our changed circumstances while
we remain faithful to our Mission of solidarity with the
world’s poor. For additional information on D & P please

perdono no ira, carità no egoism, preghiera e fede no dubbio,
pace no Guerra.

Catholic Women’s League
Attention all Ladies 18 years of age & older
Holy Rosary CWL would like to invite all ladies who may be
interested in learning more about the Catholic Women’s
League to be our guests at our Christmas
Dinner & Installation of New Officers on
Monday, December 10. Father Sam will say
mass at 6:30 and dinner will begin at 7:30,
catered by Calabria Market.
Our CWL currently has about 80 members and has been very
active in supporting our church by buying new tables and
chairs and paying for one of the stained glass windows at the
front of the church. These are just a few examples. We have
strongly supported our Sunday School program with funds to
equip their new classrooms. Our council also supports many
charities to the value of approximately $3500.00 per year, as
well as supplying annual bursaries to St. Paul’s High School
and St Mary’s Academy.
Registration is $25.00 per year. This is not such a big commitment and you do not need to attend all the meetings. There
are only about 6 meetings a year. Involvement usually means
helping at our Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Bake Sales. We
are a strong group of Catholic Women who pray and work
together towards the betterment of our church and community.
We encourage you to become a member of Holy Rosary’s
Catholic Women’s League. Please join us on December 10th
for mass and dinner.
RSVP to Julie @204-669-3382 or Lynn @ 204-269-5986
